PROJECT BEAST (PS4, From Software/SCE Japan Studio) - First WebMs [Port beg = ban.]

But if this game is a hit and becomes a franchise, FROM would essentially be shipping Souls games almost annually. Thats too much Souls on PS4.

That's not exactly a bad thing.

If anything, continued success should allow FROM to bulk up as a studio, and hopefully see them invest further in their mecha (Armored Core) team.

Or hell, start a whole new team and go back to one of their old IPs.

Hopefully it's the end of the Souls Series so PS4 exclusive from now on.

Nah. Dark Souls is going to stay multiplat or Microsoft may have splurged for it's own exclusivity. It's not going away, FROM wont say no to money.

They already have one team on this and another that worked on Dark Souls 2. So yeah, they are just getting bigger and need the funds.

What?!? They finally have a franchise that's more popular than anything they've ever done. No way there isn't another entry in the series. It doesn't mean Dark Souls 3, but another Souls nevertheless. They will probably keep a bi-annual release for a mainline Souls game, but they could certainly branch out with something a little different or whatever Beast is on the other years.

I think he's joking. Or at least I hope he's joking. Can't imagine why anyone would want a multiplatform series to become exclusive to a console or than bragging rights.

So what happens to the Dark Souls series now? Is Namco completely out of the picture now that Sony came back in?

I think all of us need to make clear of this: Bamco is only the publisher of Dark Souls series outside of Japan. FromSoft is an independent developer and capable of releasing their games on their own as they did with Dark Souls, or any other of their original IP. FromSoft collaboration with SCEJ was long before Dark Souls even considered and taken by Bamco for international release, so Sony involvement with Project Beast wouldn't affect any FromSoft IP even though they are (Dark Souls I+II) similar to what Sony's own (alongside FromSoft) that is Demon's Souls. Bamco wouldn't out of the picture unless FromSoft decides to choose different publisher if they ever gonna release another non-collaborated Souls title.

I don't think there is another Souls in development. I think the B team are going back to Armoured Core.

You should stop thinking of From as two seperate teams. They have many people who work on many different projects. There will be people who have worked on Armored Core, Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 2 and Project Beast.

I think the alternate voice of the woman in Demonite's webm is the VO woman from WipEout HD. *shrug*

The atmosphere in this game looks second to none btw. So hyped!

I like this theory. This is a hint I can believe in!

Sorry guys, but the "5 megatons" thing is garbage :P Demon may work at Sony but even Andrew House probably isn't aware yet what the exact format of the conference will be and how many reveals will be made may not be decided until much closer to the day, perhaps even on the day depending on the MS conference.

demon and dark souls were made by the same director, lead programmer, and lead graphics designer. Dark souls 2 was not. And it shows.

Well Sony owns the Demon Souls IP so I don't think they can infringe on their own property.

"Souls" I think has to be in there.

I think the fact it has guns means they should try and keep it away from the Demon's Souls IP. Bloodbourne is perfect for this based on the few glimpses we've seen...

It also leaves the door open for a sequel to Demon's Souls as well...

They have elevators, and gear-mechanisms and complex traps already in the series. A bit more steampunk isn't going to break the bubble of suspension of disbelief. I don't know why people--not you, necessarily--are getting their noses all bent out-of-shape over guns.

I think its a natural evolution. Do people really want to play the same game, with slightly different bosses, forever?

Considering it got to 97 pages in a day and a half I'm gonna say no.

There is absolutely zero chance of this thread going 3 more pages, it's just not happening.

I agree it will be difficult i think :D

51 pages to go... long road until there... I don't remember any 100 pages thread in my recent memory (excluding OT threads).

Even the older Project BEast threads?

You mean 50 pages?

It depend how you have filtering your thread view.

So this would be bloodborne, and of course there will be DaSIII and the possibility of a DeS2!? Can't see this happening. If Project Beast isn't the successor to Demon's then the gameplay and tone are already too similar for all 3 to exist and by the same developer(s).

Music is nice. Can't say much about what its about from just that trailer, looks like dark souls with new gear? those game are not easy, i fell alot on DS2.

You're right, something like is the natural evolution of the series and it could serve as a testing bed for features they could implement into Dark Souls 3. I guess I'm looking at it from a point where I was hoping we would eventually get a true sequel to Demon's.

Seems awfully slim if this is what their plan is for the Demon's IP.

Yeah, three may be pushing it, but I'd still love a proper sequel to Demon's at some point. However small that possibility is.

I want a fist fighter character class with with different awesome gauntlets in the game. The god gauntlets were alright in Demon's but could have been so much more in terms of moveset.

For all we know Beast's will also include Boletaria but centuries ahead of the time period in Demon's. And yes I would love to see the Maiden in Black return.

The new people did a fine job. Easily better than Demon's Souls.

It did on technical side such as stable FPS, smooth movement, intuitive and good looking UI, and cloth physics. But other than that, Dark Souls II completely overshadowed by its predecessors. Not only that it's definitely have weaker atmosphere and whole game cohesiveness, it's also missing small details such as weapon seaths.

What? Hell no, I think you need to go back and play Demon's.

Oh man, now I want this to happen. I'm going to hold you personally responsible if future Boletaria isn't in the game.

How many of you actually finished all three?

I have. I think DS2 was perfectly enjoyable. Better in some aspects than its predecessors, and not as strong in other elements. Too many of these absolute opinions floating around, or being expressed in this thread. "If I don't like it, it is absolute, creamy, corn-filled shit!" Such is not the best way to launch a sensible discussion on the merits and flaws of anything worth debating.

Finished Demon's and Dark 1. Dark 2 is sitting unfinished in its case, I just couldn't get into it for some reason. I'll probably revisit it over the Summer.

Its definitely tailored with modern-conveniences, such as fast-travel. But I didn't find it detracted too much from the game. Honestly, as I've gotten older, I'm much more conscious of how these Skinner-boxes like to whittle away our hours on useless activities. I actually have begun to hate it when a game eats up too much of my time on things like movement or inventory management.

Edit: I did not like how you could accomplish everything in one play-through, with the exception of grinding certain miracles/ sorceries. I ran out of steam at around LVL 255, and haven't touched the game since. I got my money's worth though, which is what matters.
