Proliferation (or lack thereof) of "yayer!" & how Nintendo exploits Splatoon culture?

These phrases sound absolutely ridiculous out of context.

What the hell is going on here? "Yayer"? "Woomy"? Woomy is such an unusual word to cling onto since a good google search does make it seem like it's some sort of meme now, when it's just random gibberish spouted off by female inklings.

I kinda wish Nintendo would dip their toe into fashion a little and do some Splatoon shirts and hats and stuff. I don't really like wearing many gaming-related shirts because I find a lot of them kinda loud and garish, but some of the Splatoon gear is pretty subtle with its reference. I could see people walking around wearing some of them. They should totally consider licensing them to some T-shirt manufacturer.

I hate mesh hats but this one always looks so good.

I want an official version of the Red Vector Tee.

(I completely forgot "yayer" was in the game, though.)
I said earlier that I would like the takaroka mesh, the red vector tee would be nice too :)

They don't really need to use those words, nor do they need to catch on in some way. They already have a couple of things already that has made its way into meme culture. What catches on is for the community and internet to decide.

On merchandise, I want them to release them outside of Japan and not just their NYC store. Japan is quite literally squid heaven and it needs to expand into the west.
