Finally got to B earlier.

I can't get myself excited over another LBP. Fooled me once, etc. If it has the same kind of jumping physics and multi-plane stages I don't think I will be bothering. Still, I imagine the touchscreen would be rather nice for the creation mode.

We've tweaked the platforming so it's more responsive and precise and kept plane shifting to a minimum in the story mode levels. Not having to worry about backwards compatibilty helped a lot push several improvements. Those who've tried the beta so far have had positive experiences over LBP1/2 so far. Hopefully more people will like what we tried to improve on over the console versions. :)

The only thing that irked me about LBP Vita was that some of the touch stuff was a bit unresponsive. It felt like the detection boxes weren't lenient enough, I hope that's something you can change in the editor (never did give that bit a go.)

Excellant, I've been hearing this a few times now - too floaty controls was my main worry with LBP(1-only one I played). Also, saving files locally was the only other 'issue' I had with LBP1 that stopped me from trying to have fun with it..

Can't really not buy it now that you've sorted both! Hope it does well, good luck!

^ Thanks a lot! :) A lot of the guys who worked on LBP Vita were hired out of the community, so we understand the gripes that players have about the franchise (since we feel the same way about a lot of those as well).

Yup, in create mode you can set touch detection ranges for touch enabled objects.

This is FANTASTIC. I couldn't get into the other games because of how floaty the controls felt. Actually looking forward to this one now.

Hmmm, I don't think he said it wasn't "floaty", just more "responsive". That could be a lot of things. After 3 titles, I can't imagine the jumping mechanic is going to radically change to be more like what people had originally hoped for?

I'm just saying, unless the rep or people who beta tested say "it's not floaty at all anymore", I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Hey, Donkey Show. Don't often see you in here. Thought i saw you mention that the jumps were tweaked, but good to see you in here re-confirming it.

When I think floaty with LBP I don't mean the long jumps (although.. ;) )...I mostly mean the delay from what you press and what you see...response time or intended action, I guess. There wasn't a good sense of connection/agency between you and the character for me in LBP1 (never played 2).

I don't imagine they've added SMB style traps and routes but as long as I get to enjoy the level the way I want to play it...and not have to fight with the engine to control my player...

I know what you are saying though - some people might be expecting a completely different game...which would be a shame because LBP's gameplay is well suited to its charming and slightly more relaxed platforming atmosphere. Just wanted it to be more precise....which is apparently what they improved (boya).

There are quite a few good platforms already that have satisfyingly strict platforming mechanics...(Sound Shapes! ...and sort of an in-between is Rayman Origins).

Grah, too many games that I want to play are coming out next month.

I think I'll just settle for AC3:L and NFS for my Vita, and Code of Princess for my 3DS.

Yup. I should definitely peek my head in more. xD

To clarify for corrosive's post, you could basically say it's less floaty (as I'm presuming what most of us has in our heads thanks to 1/2). Much easier to do precise platforming and has a little extra weight due to less travel times when stopping, quicker response to controller inputs, etc. If we were to change the dynamics completely, it might as well have been a different game. If you've played the franchise before and try this out, you'll feel it's been altered mechanically (for the better) but is still LBP at the core.

Whether or not that last bit is still a deal breaker, it's understandable. :)

Ah, fantastic.

Never really had a problem with how any LBP games controlled myself. Hope the Vita game turns around some sceptics of the franchise because the beta was really well made.

No cross buy. Vita version out next month.

Off to sleep, night all

Oh, you didn't dream of it being on Vita, it's just not cross buy and is coming out a after the other systems.

Hm well at least it's coming. Guess I'll hold off and get it on there to expand the library.

Also if the LBP physics really are fixed then I'll consider getting that too. I truly hate the floaty jumps in those games.

^ I'm holding off too - got my DC JSR fix recently to bare through the wait...but it is pretty cheap, £6.50 ... might just double dip anyway - but I can wait for the handheld JSR now..

Yup. I should definitely peek my head in more. xD

Improved control response time AND and slightly more weight/less momentum?...with locally saving, downloadble levels and a level editor..in the little big planet world...in your hand....

Reckon you'll do pretty well!

I hope you guys get that message across to others somehow - especially with the vita being in its early stages - (slightly older) early-adopters who might be concerned with it due to those things in the previous titles.. I guess you can't really outwardly bash LBP 1/2 in the trailer....but it ought to be said at least briefly and probably a little modestly..somehow.

neogaf and a beta doesn't hurt of course.. I know we appreciate it :D

Yeah we'll see, being so damn quiet mere week or 2 before release doesn't sound promising now does it?though sony shares a great relationship with ea i hope for the best.

Totally, I'm so furious they are not releasing a demo like they just did for PS3 and 360. They even released one for Madden! Not a single gameplay video, not a single screenshot wtf?
I was still hoping for a demo till today, now other demos are up but no love for the Vita. Now I don't know what to do with my preorder, should I just cancel it or what?
Dammit EA, I've been waiting for this game.

Has anyone tried out GTA: Vice City Stories on the Vita? How well does it run, and I can assign the right analog stick for the camera, right?

Yo VitaBros, I was just at my local Wal-Mart and noticed the prices on all Sony-brand Vita cases, cords and headphones have been rolled-back 25% or more. I'm not sure if this is only at my store so ymmv.

Thanks for the info. I haven't really been following it tbh. But based on what you are saying I might end up giving it a shot after all. Hell, I don't own a single vita game since launch so maybe I'll start with this.

And I had no idea you worked at MM. I loved Azure Palace level.
