It has arrived :)

I'll try and report back with some impressions, however I am a bit time limited at the moment so it might not be right away. I'll get it fired up as soon as I can, keen to try out some PAL (UK) cards, fingers crossed...

lovely photo :)

I was considering one of these but it doesn't seem to be compatible with tearaway :/

You went whole-hog!

I'm just going to rock my 8GB card. That is what I use on my normal Vita and it lets me have enough content. Though I do buy carts for actual Vita games.

For classics, I'm hoping it performs a bit better than PS3 (in lag and using the Vita screen options). Really curious how things like PCE are presented. They work fine enough on my PS3 but maybe, perhaps, a bit better on Vita TV. Aldynes and Einhander and stuff like that.

Thanks, it poses well for photos :) Yeah, I've seen tearaway has some rear touchpad action going on... Vita TV am cry :(

Hah, cheers Boss... yeah, I kinda went all in. The 64GB is actually going in my domestic Vita (UK model) which sorely needs it (PS Plus = sogood.gif), which currently has a 32GB card. I also have a Japanese Vita which will inherit the 32GB card, and that will be the one that gets swapped between Vita and Vita TV.

I love this device, but I strongly encourage people in the US to NOT mport one. It's just not worth it.

If the 720p Remote Play of PS4 games was enabled I'd say it would be worth it.

But remember you could only use a Japanese account on the ps vita tv and ps4 do the remote play on vita tv at present time and it may not work until japan gets the ps4 as there is no ps4 link icon and ps3 remote play icon with the 3.00FW.

I really want that stand now. Yeah if I see it in akiba tonight I'm buying it.

Apparently the price according to Amazon Japan is around 1000 yen, which is sold out No ETA on restock. The hyenas on Amazon Marketplace got it market up to around 2000 yen. To give you an idea on price.

Oh that reminds me, the power cable.

A) is it using the same one as the Vita?
B) if not, can I just use an adapter or have I got to mess around with a step down converter. (I'm in the uk)

Mines been delivered apparently but I'm in work till about half 5. :(

So it is the same as the Vita then? I can just use the AC adapter half of my vita if so. I always charge my vita through usb anyway.

No the AC adapter is different. You just need to change the power cable to an UK one to connect it to your power outlet.

Why would they be selling a UK power cable for the Vita TV if it's not out here?

Do you mean just use an adapter..?

I think what is meant here is:

- Vita TV (JP) has a power cable with external power block that connects to the VTV itself.
- It comes with another cable that connects to the block at one end, and the wall socket (with JP plugs) at the other.
- Instead of using that JP socket cable, switch it out for the equivalent cable that comes with a Vita in your respective region, and connect that to the VTV's power block/your wall socket.

Bummer, not surprised though.

When installing apps, are you able to specify internal vs external card? If something is on the internal storage, what happens when you try to use another accounts content?

there's 1GB internal storage. but i haven't seen any option to specify where you want stuff installed. at the moment i think it just automatically installs to the memory card.

but whenever you want to reformat, it does ask you to check which storage you want to format, internal or external.

when you try you access something that's linked to another account, it says that its linked to another account and you can't play it.

The AC adapter It's a power block with a JP power cable just change the power cable and you're good to go :)

OK, got mine today in the UK.

First of all I imported from nin nin, the package said 3000y video game device and I was charged about £6 vat and then fucking £13 for "handling" charges, so not too happy about that.

The device feels top quality and looks smaller in person, the set up was a breeze but I was only able to use a JP account as you all know. I've tried it on a 40" and a 32" Samsung 720p TV and I must say the image quality is excellent, no blurring or any image artifacts.

The image is a LOT better than I though it would be and I can see myself using this a hell of a lot if only the dam games worked. If remote play via PS4 works like advertised then this should look really good on the TV, a cheaper alternative than buying 2 PS4's.

Here's the problem,

The games that I've tested are all UK carts and not one works from the following list,

VT4
MK
WRC12
Super Monkey Ball
Rayman
Uncharted
Most Wanted
SFxTK
LBP
AS3 Lib
UMvC3
Little D
Unit 13

Now I'm not sure if they will one day work when the DS4 gets patched in or if it has something to do with UK accounts but I feel Sony has missed a great opportunity here. Why not patch in the DS4 from the start and make these games compatible? the Vita is region free so it's safe to assume that some people will have traveled and bought software from other regions and in doing so they would expect them to work on the TV model. First impressions are key and if they had worked out making 90% of the games run then the TV would of been a must buy but as of now it's no more than a paper weight.

I hope that when it does come to the UK all these problems are sorted and this JP model works with my UK account and the games. I would say if it did work like it SHOULD then playing Vita games on the TV will be a lot of fun as will the PS4 remote play options as it really does look fantastic. That's the annoying part that it looks so good on a TV but it doesn't work ATM.

Any Questions?

I haven't hooked mine up yet, but will do when I get back from the office later this afternoon. I'll roll through my physical Vita collection and try everything, will report back with my own compatibility list.

Has anyone posted an initial setup guide yet? I might take some photos and do a little walkthrough if folks are interested.

^^^

my copy of UMVC3 works on my vita tv.

it's the japanese version though.

I saw that it is also listed in the TV section of the JP store so maybe the JP version is patched? have you updated the game? or it could very well be that it is fully region locked :(
Has anybody got any UK cart to work?

Also I connected a PS3 remote control up and that works fine plus when I entered a party chat with my UK vita it shows a talk icon on the Vita TV so I presume you can pair a BT headset? but I can't see no option for that unless it relates to the DS4 headphone socket.

not on here but there some on youtube I've seen.

I seem to recall reading that the 1GB internal storage in the Vita 2000 and TV is only used when there's no memory card inserted.

mine is the cart version. can't remember if it prompted me to patch it though.

oh by the way, facebook and youtube apps do not work. twitter works though.

Seams strange that apps wont work when the TV has simulated touch controls, I can see it being very difficult to play games that way but with the You Tube app you could still use it.

Maybe there is more to the inner workings of the firmware that makes certain things not possible? Maybe Sony only want to allow programs and games that work 100% to run so not to put people of if for example a app runs like shit because of the bad controls.

So the only thing I can really do ATM is go on twitter, web, email and use party chat, psn stuff. No games.

yeah, its actually quite limited at the moment.

PS1 and PSP games play fine though. not really that many vita games playable.

only have motor storm RC, dragons crown and UMVC3 playable at the moment.

can't do remote play to PS3/PS4 yet (option isn't there)

facebook and youtube don't work

i can however stream .mp4s, photos and music from my mac to the vita tv though.

I haven't set it up yet to try media, what do 720 or 1080 videos look like? I guess also that when it launches in other regions if we can log into the stores and profiles there it may work in the UK when released here. Think it comes out in HK around mid January.

Ergh bet they've done the same to mine. I even specifically said what to mark it as on the order.

Do any non japanese games work? I imagine the firmware has a whitelist of allowed game ids, which vary by region despite region freeness.

all my carts are either japanese (R2) or asian (R3). can't test US/EU carts :(

streamed video looks good. can't really say much as i'm not really picky about video quality.

I'll give my carts a go when I get home. Some of mine are American mind you, namely Persona 4 and Muramasa Rebirth.

Yeah they marked mine as 3000 yen as well. Guess FedEx will send me a charge through the post in the near future. >.<

It would seem it does have an issue with EU games. I tried my Lumines EU retail copy and it wouldn't work despite the US version apparently working.

Guess I'm stuck with Persona 4 and Muramasa in terms of Vita games for the time being. Hopefully Ys will work when it comes out too.

The upscaling is surprisingly good though. Muramasa looked really nice. persona 4 didn't look amazing, but that's more down to the fact it was a jagged mess anyway rather than the upscaling being bad.

Random question - for PSP games that couldn't be transferred onto the Vita without a PS3, like Valkyria Chronicles 2, are those compatible with the Vita TV?

if you get a chance try PSO2 please.

I just received my Vita TV today as well. Putting it through the paces as we speak. So far I've been able to capture everything via my LGP without any HDCP issues which is nice.

Type 0 is on the compatibility list so I plan to start with that one which should keep me busy until the PS4 link app shows up. If anyone has any questions I'm more than willing to answer what I can.

Vita TV enters God tier:

Vita TV was made for P4G - graphics are razor sharp, and the colours... so many colours..

I also fired up Niconico and linked my account to the VTV:

Seems to be running fine, the saving grace being that you can switch the scrolling comments off in the video frame (which can be viewed fullscreen). If you leave them on, it's just a crippling wall of text!

I didn't have time to check everything, but I can confirm that Oboromuramasa (JP download version) works fine and looks great, as well as P4G (US card) as mentioned above. I'll try and roll through all my cards (mostly UK but also US and JP) later and do a checklist of what comes up working or not.

Sweet found a stand today for 880 yen at Sof Map. They had a bunch of them. Looks like Amazon JP has it back in stock too. Amiami is still out though.
