Ok I apologise to everyone now. The hate is gone.
I think my expectation was beyond mars for the reveal. It was very decent, especially if you compare with the PS4 reveal.
power and eject(bottom)what are the 2 slots on the front bottom left?
ahh ok thanks alot ! cant wait to see the tear down and more controller talk + the new system UI + psn storepower and eject(bottom)
USB and a USB-C port (top)
power input cable, network, and so on... were not modeled.
There was no Killzone moment or deep down or whatever it was called, were it was just so clear it was next gen.
I still haven't seen any in-Game gameplay that looks like it couldn't been done on current gen consoles. I mean GoT looks better than anything I've seen there. Talking about gameplay graphics, not cutscenes.
Hopefully they will show more.
Wrong. Ratchet instant world change was gameplay and it's only possible on PS5.
That game looked so sick dude. I remember the first one for PS with the red and black checkered disc. Wow. It has been a while...Still remember racing in Switzerland was a dope trackGran Turismo 7. I need nothing more.

Titanfall 2 apparently had an entire mission based around this, on HDD, I'm told.
It did but I was told they had to load two different versions of the level in ram to make it work.
With these super fast SSDs they don't have to do that anymore. When they are done with one area they can just dump it all from memory and load the next one. While this doesn't eliminate loading, it allows gameplay to appear seemless instead of broken up by long loading segments like elevators for example.
A good example is when Ratchet is good through all those portals really quickly.
Its clearly not only possible on PS5, though, is it? Not only has it happened on a system that's orders of magnitude slower, via creativity, it's likely very possible on Series X as well, with a game set to do that exact thing.
By possible do you mean the same as how the PS5 is handling it?
My answer to that question is yes but not on the same level of we are just talking about the I/O.
Pretty sure they could get Ratchet Rift Apart to work on a PS4 but the load times would kill the experience for many people. Not to say it isn't possible on the XSX it's just the load times would be longer than what we saw in the PS5 version. How much longer is the real question and would it hurt the experience?
That goalpost moving.
I am interested in the answers to these questions, but the assertion that this is a PS5-only experience, is clearly wrong.
To get into nuts and bolts, I could see a mix of having small parts of 'the other world' in memory, and using the SSD. This is under the assumption that said game is an Xbox exclusive, though I wonder if the approach would work for ports, to address the superior PS5 speeds.
Its easy to explain why it is the biggest Sony console ever.I found the presentation really good.
(although not exceptional, mainly due to the start with GTAV)
The games are quite interesting and varied.
But, with the exception of the new IPs, and some smaller but still beautiful games like Little Devil Inside, the bigger games had already been leaked (with Demon Souls or RE8) or their announcement was still predictable (as with Horizon 2 or the new Ratchet and Clank).
The console is original and intriguing, but at the same time bulky and massive.
(the biggest console created by Sony)
If on the creative side it stands out, on the purely functional side and instead at a disadvantage against Microsoft.
(that with Series X, although Microsoft has done a minimal job, it also seems to be more synthetic and functional as a form)
[personally Sony's idea was also nice in design, but to stand out best it would have to be at least smaller than how they made it.
Since PS5 is bigger than a PS3 Fat.
(and the PS3 Fat was already quite big)
That's why I'm not exactly ecstatic with Sony's priority.]
In any case, a more than excellent presentation for PS5, overall.
(with new IPs, and with excellent sequels)
And, considering that there should be a new event in August, I also expect other new announcements.

So its shaped like a big V...does that ring a bell?Looks like a vase, someone shop flowersin

Oh come on, using that bogus argument you can nullify any technical advantage. Cant hit detail/framerate? Simple: Draw less, simplify assets, lower frame-rates etc.
Just because you can make a game run on the Switch, it doesn't make the versions running on beefier hardware less good or not better than visually.
The most annoying thing about this console war chatter is that its distracting from the FACT that i/o innovations like the PS5 hardware design offers a new pathway to better software in ADDITION to the tradition paradigm of simply increasing rasterization speed and computation power.
Its not supposed to be a thing that competes with or replaces more cpu/gpu grunt, its just another thing that has the potential to be just as, or even more useful.
To be honest both Soul Reaver and Medium use modified version of the places you are already in, meanwhile Ratchet and Clank was shown fast loading completely different areas. This is a lot of outrage for simply stating that world shifting is not a PS5-exclusive feature. It isn't. It's in a marquee game for the competition, and was creatively done a generation ago, on the weakest, slowest console.
I look forward to seeing what developers do with the speeds, and loved the Ratchet and Clank showcase, we agree there, but I can't accept that it's a 'PS5-only' feature, and debuted for the first time two days ago. That's simply not true.

While Titanfall 2 does have shifting and developers managed to do creative tricks to incorporate it with slow HDDs
it's nowhere near what Insomniac is doing in Ratchet and Clank.
Incorrect. A world shift is a world shift.
Wrong. Ratchet instant world change was gameplay and it's only possible on PS5.

Still not on the same scale. I'm pretty sure alot of the geometry is the same with the two versions of that Titanfall 2 level.
If they try and just bring Ratchet and Clank over to slow HDDs they would have to make alot of changes just to make it work.
Like 30 seconds of loading between each shift for example..
A reminder of the discussion, since some of you need it.
And nobody is arguing that. If the statement had been that the PS5 had the most impressive example of it, I'd be inclined to agree. But it wasn't.
Why are you constantly trying to 'shift' the conversation in another direction?
I don't want to downplay Medium, it's a different game so we are apple-oranging a bit, but in the trailer I saw what looks like shifting and adding (lots and lots) of assets. I'm not saying it's unimpressive, I would say it's phenomenal at least, but for the moment the only game I know that moves you from an area to another completely different one it's Ratchet. Which of course doesn't mean it can't be done on others systems with those faaaast SSDs, but having such kind of game ready at launch, it's an indication that PS5 is well suited for this kind of job. But you are not wrong, game development progresses every year, there are lots of chances for Xbox and Pc to see such kind of games in the future, on PS5 it's probably just easier due to the higher transfer speed.Medium (is that the game?) was loading completely different areas and models as well, not simply retexturing them

Why are people bitching about gta5? You wanted BC on ps5, right? Now you have it
And Ratchet doesn't look next gen to you?, even DF said that it looks better than the freaking CG movie (and I agree). Maybe you just need better glasses or something.Iwas talking about graphics though. I even said:
"talking about gameplay graphics".
I wasn't talking about gameplay mechanics
That's cool. The texturing is actually PS button logos, thats' so unnecessary but cute lol

Horizon 2 trailer made me feel very emotional. I didn't like seeing that fox dying like that and then the water drowning it out during what should have been its last breaths
That game was too emo for me. Even the protagonist's voice was about to crack. Looks painfully realistic, the entire plight isn't something I'd want to engage in. Seems way to relatable to this world's problems, only they added some elements to make it futuristic somewhat
Idk, that game didn't sit well with me in my mind. Only think J liked was the vibrance of the visuals. The hero seems a bit shaky
But to each his own
