I see that doing this involves messing with the flash on the psp so I have to ask, does this work with the PSP-3000?

In the read me it says something about putting Sony update in the same folder named 500.PBP? What update? I'll also need to do the little text edit thing above as I'll be needing to play PSN versions of FFVII and MGS on the PSP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted to check the PS1 games and buy Holy Invasion but I am blocked from the store.
I might just go back to OFW, I have no real use for CFW anymore.

Is this still moddable?
if not, is there a way to downgrade? I saw some video on youtube of a guy downgrading his PSP's firmware, but I don't know if it was legit or not.
red shoe paul said:If you're safe you'll need to use Pandoras battery and mmsx to downgrade.
Awesome. No OSX version of Media Go. And even if there was I'm not sure I'd wanna bother jumping through all those hoops. What's the fucking point in blocking store access? If I'm visiting the store chances are it's to buy something.Mejilan said:Ok, for you (us) hold outs that don't want to ugprade to 5.50 Gen-B or 5.50 MHU, I figured out a way to regain PSN access on 5.00 M33-6.
1) Do the version.txt trick I posted a few pages ago.
2) Download the Media Go app from Sony, and install it.
3) Run Media Go, sign in using your normal PSN credentials.
4) Profit.
Long story short. Sony have blocked the version.txt spoof trick for direct PSN access (but have not blocked PSN access from all CFWs). Also, they have NOT blocked the version.txt spoof trick for running games (UMD or DLC) requiring newer firmwares. And I can only deduce that they have not blocked this spoof trick for Media Go PSN access.
It is extreme. Hard to justify when high-end XBLA and PSN games rarely cost that much.I tested it by downloading a demo. No issues.
Not sure if I'm going to bite on Badman though. $20 for a non-retail release seems extreme, to me.

I think I've got a Pandora battery, I bought the system second-hand from a friend and he said he had hacked it, but then upgraded it and didn't bother hacking. And even before my firmware had been upgraded to 5.50 I tried to hack the psp, maybe I was doing something wrong, but the Pandora battery didn't seem to work. Are they like "one use only" type of things?
this includes 3000s?The_Joint said:You can use ChickenHEN on any PSP with 5.03 and install CFW.
With OFW 5.50 you can use a save game exploit. Currently the Japanese version of Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and the English version of Need for Speed: Underground work. You load up the savegame and then use the CFW enabler (currently at 3.60).
So really, depending on what OFW you have, any PSP is able to run CFW now, be it 5.00 m-33 or 5.50 GEN B/MHU.

Thanks. Digital distribution is AWESOME. Oh well. I didn't need another game anyway.Mejilan said:Don't think that works anymore. I've read that you need to be signed in both on the PS3, and the PSP. if you bought a stick from a 3rd party seller on amazon, tit was an awesome deal, ad now when you use it, the performance is suspect, then yeah, it's probably fake.Corran Horn said:Is there a way to see if a Sandisk memory stick is a fake? 3rd stick I got online thats fake now if this one is...fuck this, only buying in stores now lol.
Mejilan said:Try using NPDecryptor to strip it of its DRM.
Only works if you actually purchased it. ;p
Edit - Regarding the version.txt trick. Did you version it up to 5.50 or 5.51? I hear 5.51 is required.

Tried still wont see the games. When I first dumped a few of my PSP games onto it, it showed them. I played Rockband for awhile then quit and now it wont show the games anymore, just like the 2 fake sony memory sticks I have. Getting a collection of this crap :/gokieks said:Make sure you do a full system restart when switching Memory Sticks. In my experience, tThe PSP has a tendency to not read things properly when you switch them w/o rebooting, especially if the different sticks are of differing capacities.

Fixed, thanks! Saved me some money there :lolDMPrince said:oh rockband LOL. There's a thing where it makes your games "disappear".
you need to create a blank text file. and put it inside the PSP > GAME Folder.
Create a GAME folder under PSP directory and the game should come back.
EDIT: I saved the file as ".txt" - Don't give it a name.
