Anyone heard about the 5.70 firmware that was seen at Gamescom?
I saw the video on N4G.com.
I saw the video on N4G.com.

EDIT: Oh, I found the system settings. It has 5.02 GEN-A (Full). Does this help figure out which motherboard this one has? I'm googling around to try and find the answer, but it can't hurt to ask experts.
Took a bit of finangling, but I got it working. The Faceless Master said:http://dl.qj.net/PSPident-v0.4-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/26999/catid/151
that'll tell you what the mobo revision is
batbeg said:2. Is there some sort of screen/video grabber tool out there? That'd be pretty awesome.
Kazenone said:Re: 2. I'm not sure if this works on GEN-A/B but on M33-6 you can use a program called RemoteJoyLite to output the PSP screen on your PC. It comes with a built in video recorder and snapshot tool. It's quite a hassle to set up (Not all the download packages out there include the driver you need) but it's really worth it afterwards (You can set up a joypad with it too, really neat).
Here's the GAF thread on it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334119
And Re:1, Depending on the FW the game requires (Any game upto FW 5.51 I think) use this:

I've used the screenshot plugin in this bundle since 3.71 M33 and it worked fine in 5.50 GEN-B when I tested it.Varth said:So the usual screenshot plugin I have for M33 won't work on GEN fw?
riskVSreward said:And could someone tell me the latest CFW ver and if it works on the launch PSPs? People are talking about 5.00 and GEN A... I have no idea what is the most current.
It'll work on a phat? Also, can anyone recommend some staple apps? I've only messed around with emulators so far but I would like to have a better music/video player with visualizations etc... As long as it works on the phat, AFAIK some things can only work with the additional ram from the newer models.red shoe paul said:I have the same card, but 1gb, and it's fairly fast. Although I haven't used anyother so I can't compare really..
Latest CFW is 5.50GEN-B.

Sorry for shitting up the thread all the time, but I have one last question. Do you know if all the old emulators will still be compatible with GEN-B? I'm mostly concerned with CPS2PSP (cps1+2), SNES9XTYL(snes), MVSPSP(neo-geo), gpSP(gba), RIN GB/GBC(gbc) and NESTER J(nes). If it's assumed that all older apps/emus will work then thats a fine answer toored shoe paul said:Yeah, I have GEN-B on my Phatty and it's perfect.
As for Apps, I've been out of that for years, haven't bothered with those since dev's stopped updating to the newer FW versions, so I'm not the man to ask about that..
After a Google search, I found this:

Awesome, I'll do that now. Thanks for the help.red shoe paul said:http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-downloads.php
This was THE site back in the day for me to download homebrew, I think you can put the emulators in the 1.5 folder and run it through like that. I know they do work still, I just forgot where they went on the PSP, haha. I'm sure a read me is included to tell you.
Yeah, it's so simple now, all you basically do is plug in your PSP, navigate to the certain folder and drop the file in, then run it on the XMB. Takes literally 2 minutes to upgrade.![]()
Kaijima said:Forgive the off-topic question but I don't see a general hardware repair thread and figured the folks modifying their PSPs might have an answer:
I have a launch-era NTSC PSP and the analog nub is dying. Did Sony change the analog stick part across PSP revisions or will any replacement stick assembly fit the 1st gen PSP? Having trouble finding a clear answer online.
Thanks in advance for any help!

NaviLink said:I have a little battery problem.
I've bought a dual purpose battery (normal and pandora with a button to change mode).
Used it to put CFW on my PSP, using it as second battery, no problem.
Problem now is, even when fully charged, either in normal or pandora mode, the PSP won't start. If someone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated, because I don't have a clue what to do to fix it.

Thanks, but is there any way to do multiple disc with this one?Bootaaay said:Try a program called IceTea (google IceTea 1.3), that worked for me.

5.50 GEN-B update: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1764 (only AFTER installing above successfully!)
- Trying GEN-B update without GEN-A will brick your PSP
- Disable any custom themes first (revert to default)
- Disable any active plugins before updating
- Put folder containing update files in GAME folder
- Have AC charger plugged in when you run, for safety
- Enjoy latest CFW

Is there a proper way to verify the correct hardware for installation? I have a PSP-2001, one of the release day slim models.
Thanks.
red shoe paul said:You'll have to check your motherboard, which isn't hard to do. If it's release day slim, then you should honestly be set to go.Just please follow a tutorial because honestly one thing wrong and you're out of luck.

Or back to 5.00 M33-6, I have no use for PSN so I think this is the best version for me. I only have my one PSP and battery, so I'm not sure how to downgrade. Someone please help meh.

Its a 2000 and has firmware 2.90, im not sure about the board number so i would have to check about that. If you can what way would i have to do it, pandora or just by using an installer?
LOL must be mistaken, just had a quick look since my GF seemed interested in buying it from him and i wanted it to be able to hook it up to my tv to playThe Faceless Master said:can't be 2.90, slim came with minimum 3.60, maybe you mean 3.90?
if so, then it should be CFWable.
