UPDATE TO GEN-A FIRST!!!!!!!!!

I accidentally did straight to Gen-B from M33-6 and it fucked up my system.

Oh, and if you're really feeling unsure, make a magic mem stick and pandora first as they'll fix it up in case you screw up.

Yes, you'll have to update to Gen-A first. But you don't need to have M33-6. Every fw beginning from 3.52 M33-3 and after, seems to work.

can anyone help me please.

I cannot get VSH menu to work when i press select. It says "the game could not be started. (80010002)."

I copied over some plugins. I disabled all of them except for VSHmenu, recovery, autostart, game categories, and pops.

Any suggestions or tips?

thanks.

edit - i figured it out :)

It's a windows based program. Not sure if there is a mac version.

You know, it's been a few years since I fucked around with CXMB and/or flashing custom themes directly to the PSP. I'm feeling a bit adventurous, and I can only imagine that themes have become more robust than they used to be.

I wonder if support for 5.50 Gen exists. I see an unofficial version of CXMB already out for 5.50 Gen, but I can't really determine if porting 5.00 themes to 5.50 is easy or not. Time to do some reading, I think.

I don't have any experience in flashing custom themes or converting themes for 5.50 but I've found this site that has a plethora of GEN-compatible themes if you're interested.

Everytime I see something about the GEN CFW I get tempted to update but right after that I see the post damning it to all hell. So after reading the latest about Broken Destiny should I just jump in or just wait for D-A who seems to be reluctant to do anything at this time?

also, what are some good custom themes that people use?

I use Overheat the Soul (Yoruichi Version) myself. Real nice set of Bleach icons if you enjoy the show.

I'll definitely check that out. Many thanks.

can anyone help me get chick hen to work on a psp phat? I'm trying to get it to work on my bro's psp but i can't get it to work.

I have the h.bin at the root of the MS.
I have a photo>chickhen> then the 4 gifs and the eggploit.tiff for the phats. I can't even get the psp to freeze. It just loads the tiff and doesn't freeze.

This is frustrating.

edit - wow finally got it to work. There were so many different guides that i read and saw on youtube trying to get it to work on the phat. I put the picture in the Picture folder instead of Photo. And it worked.

If you have a game that requires new FW like GEN to play, I would upgrade. If you don't, I would just wait until a group comes out with CFW that works with 5.55 games.

I forgot how easy CXMB was, and how awesome custom themes can be.
And I'm honestly shocked that of the 10 or so custom themes I've tested so far, all of them have played very nicely with the Game Categories Plugin v4.

One of the biggest reasons why I dropped custom themes to begin with was due to my assumption that one plugin would totally break the other, and thus, were mutually exclusive.

My bad.

hey, you know i m33-6 theres an option in the recovery menu about speeding up memory stick speed or something. It's a new feature in m33-6. Right now mine is set to never, should i enable this? i don't want to touch any options without knowing what they do. Thanks.

So can anyone tell me some apps that I should have? All I have so far is emulators, and I only have a small memory stick and a few older psp games that I have no interest in playing.

No way. So get this... in recovery menu>advanced>advanced configuration, you can disable plugins, and I had them set to disabled. All that headache trying to get popsloader to work, but that was the right answer.

I thought I remembered doing something like that when we were all trying to get FFVII to work!

Thanks to Mejilan, Feel the Swift and anyone else who tried to help. The answer turned out to be something way more boneheaded on my part than what you guys were guessing, but I still appreciate the help.

Personally there's really very little I care about OTHER than emulators... but here's a couple:

bookr - ebook reader. Supports txt and pdf.
psptube - watch youtube on your PSP. The way it works is kind of weird, but still cool once you get the hang of it. If you like pr0n, there's a version that also can search a bunch of adult sites as well.

Yes, I've set mine at ALWAYS for a long time now and I haven't run into any issues. There is not risk involved, it just speeds up the loading times.

After ripping JP DISSIDIA to an ISO it wouldn't go past the menu screen so I assumed there was something wrong with the ISO. I couldn't wait so I played most of the game on UMD until I realized that the solution was to disable this speed-up. In short, this depends on the memory stick involved. FYI, I'm currently using a SanDisk adapter with a 2gb M2 card.

As I said, I never had any problems with my Sony MSs. Guess it's MS dependant then. Either way you can't possibly brick or damage your PSP by enabling this feature, thus it's safe to tinker around with the option and see what's best for you.

thanks a lot. I'll tinker with it later today.

Is there a straight forward way to create an eboot of a PSX iso file on a Mac? I'm not having any luck with the OS X version of Popstation, I can't even get it to run because I'm a total noob when it comes to anything involving the terminal.

Because I care.

Keep in mind, there's no way to do multi-disc eboots with this old programme. Hopefully someone else steps up to the plate soon.

Don't know if that matters, but my review UMD doesn't work with 5.50 GENB, even with 5.55 spoofing and various drivers. Had to dl an iso to test it, since I needed to capture screens of it as well -____-

Funny thing, it freezes if I try to capture movies or "board" screens.

Wait wait wait what?
Did i read it correctly? 5.55 spoofing?
I can finally play my copy of tales of vs? (still means ditching m33 though =()

No spoofing that works, yet.... unless you believe the rumor of this new CFW which hasn't been proven yet.

Is US Dissidia 5.55 required?
The person I quoted above seem to have it working on cfw? or I am missing a few things.

US dissidia doesn't require 5.55. From what I have read, the game should work fine with 5.00 M33-6

Sorry, my bad. I meant 5.50 spooofing.
Anyway, I'm beginning to wonder: what fw does the us dissidia carries on the UMD? 5.55, right?

Looks like CFW 5.55 MX isn't fake after all.
Still, I definitely ain't touching this one as it is now.

Thanks to tipster Kindjal, we were made aware that Team MX has released their Beta 5.55 CFW. And they sure do have quite a list of instructions for your perusal, so why don't you get going.

Instructions and application within the. Rar:

PSP Homebrew - Image 1Due to the large number of mails received from you and the little time we have available to answer only say:

1. Not see System Information prayer "5.55CF TMX-1" as only a beta, it will be seen in the final version.
2. You can download any of the 3 links, that was just in case one failed.
3. Before publishing the beta, it was sent to several PSP users with positive results in 65 of the time.
4. It is advisable to just install on a CF M33.
5. They can only return to the previous version if you made the backup of flash0 recommended in the readme.
6. Do not ask questions like "what a PSP can use such plate as we ???", we only tested on a PSP 1000 and the other users who tested the beta before anyone else obtained positive and negative results regardless of the model plate or PSP.
7. It is noteworthy that this is our first work for the PSP and the errors tend to spend so please do not judge a bad way bugs that come out of this beta.
8. The beta was released for yourselves what they liked and did not wait for us to have something better.
9. All you have to do is install the files in the flash0 and try any game that requires 5.55 and comment in the mail that had problems after that, remember that doing this will be part of Team MX and are also believed to contribute their grain of sand.
10. We will rely on the information they send to finish the CF.
11. MX Support Team to get the new PSP and continue to develop the firmware 5.55 by clicking on the AdSense blog.

Edit - Or not. I'm hearing reports that this is a fake/useless release.
Edit 2 - :lol Apparently all it does is flash your version.txt. :lol :lol
Edit 3 - And two other files. Still useless though. Alas.

The 2000, but you have to be careful that you don't get one of the later 2000's. Google around for more info about it. You will have to shop carefully.

Awesome! My issue was not having libusb installed. Somehow I missed that step when I first read your post. Thanks!

It only works as an ISO file for 5.00 M33, it's won't with a retail UMD copy though.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
So apparently if what i'm reading is true, soul caliber patches have been released that enable the game to work on 5.00 m33 now .. whelp, the homebrew community sure doesn't let up.

It's true. You have to hack the iso to get it to work. This only works for SC since there is a leaked SC iso with decrypted boot.bin.

Brilliant. I'll look into this tonight. I have NO problems whatsoever patching my ISOs!
Hopefully they'll be able to apply this progress to other games. I don't care about GI Joe, but it'd be nice to be able to patch Persona when it hits in a few weeks.

The method that is being used so far only applies to SC because there was a leaked ISO that had a decrypted boot.bin. According to a retired M33 developer on maxconsole, this could have been an image from a debug build of the game. So if we need games like Persona to work, we need a leaked iso that has decrypted boot.bin

Yes, I realize that this won't DIRECTLY apply to other 5.55 games. But I'm hoping that by analyzing the decrypted boot.bin, they'll gain some insight into how the rest of them work. It wouldn't be the first time PSP homebrew developments come from reverse-engineering.

The thing about the Persona situation that sucks is that I want to buy the UMD because it comes with the 2-disc soundtrack (and personally I think the music is the best part of the game), where as the UMD does not, and it's still $40. Thus why I really would like to play Persona ripped to memory stick.
