You can decrypt and play just about any of the new breed of 5.55 and 6.00 encrypted UMDs... as ISOs. :p

Ah, good to know, thanks. I've been thinking about picking up Persona and Disgaea 2 and wanted to make sure I wouldn't have any problems before I did.

Try connecting the PSP to the wall charger, wait for it to boot, then put the battery in. Mine did the same thing when I was upgrading to GEN-B (hadn't used it in a long time).

Just tried that too and I'm getting no response at all from either the battery or recognition by the PSP. Quite odd.

Got my Photofast adapter from etech today. Doesn't seem to be a fake but I'm having odd slowdown and longer loads in some games. Converting my CSO back to ISO seemed to help with one game but damn I don't wanna do that with all 30+ of my PSP games. Is this unusual? Using two 8GB class 6 micro SDHCs with it. I noticed when I formatted it it said I had over 16GB available, which is pretty odd.

First, did you format through the PSP or through your PC? You have to do it through the PSP.

I also had some issues that seemed weird until I did the following.

1) Put one micro SD card in slot 1 and leave slot 2 empty
2) Format it through the PSP
3) Remove the micro SD card in slot 1 and then put the other one in and format it through the PSP
4) Finally once you've done them individually, put them both in and format

I know it seems odd but I saw it recommended in different places that you should format each one individually first. Might have been a coincidence but it fixed up the issues I was having including slow transfer rates going from PC to PSP.

I just upgraded from 3.80 CFW to 5.00 m33-6.

My PSP games that are on my stick still work, but my emulators do not. My kernal is set to 1.50, does this update affect anything related to emus?

Sorry for the noob question, I haven't been around the CFW scene since around 3.80...

Does anyone have any idea where to find a genuine PSP battery? I've been looking for one of the 2200mAh Stamina ones but at this point I'd just take a regular one. I managed to destroy my original Phattie battery, and the replacement I bought, thinking it was official because it had 'Sony' emblazoned all over it, turned out to be a fake with 'Sony' emblazoned all over it. It gives me about one or two hours of Bookr on a full charge, it's not even worth trying to play a game on.

So far I've found a Stamina battery on Play-Asia, but it costs about $70 and if I'm going to be spending that much money I'd rather go all the way and buy a used 2000 or something.

So I'm trying to flash back to CFW, and it seems like something is seriously wrong with my Pandora battery at this point. I managed to make a Magic Mem Stick through Vista well enough, but my Pandora battery seems like it's just... dead. PSP won't turn on with it, and when the AC Adapter is plugged in, the PSP doesn't even recognize that there's a battery in it.

This is rather strange considering I used this very same Pandora Battery to flash this same PSP back earlier this year, so I have no idea what is wrong here.

My Brother in law who doesnt have posting privileges had this same problem and suggested this:

you need to either use an XP machine to make the MMS or you needs to run DOS as administrator in Vista. He had the same problem when trying to put CFW on a friends psp.

Is there any way to make 2D PSX games run at the correct speed using Popsloader?

No matter which version of POPS I use, going from 5.00 all the way back to 3.00, Broken Sword runs much too fast. I know there's sometimes an issue using PAL versions (like I have with FF6) but I'm ripping both the PAL and NTSC versions direct from the disc and neither is at the correct speed.

I don't have my PSP to hand right now but could changing the in-game clock speed have an effect?

I really hate to ask, but is there a proper tutorial in updating to 5.50 GEN-B?

I'm currently on m33 5.00-4 and have been looking to update my firmware, but I'm having a bit of trouble trying to find a starting point as I know that I have to have GEN-A, but am feeling rather overwhelmed by not only the fimrware, but also editing the version.txt (I've edited it before so I know how to edit it properly).

Sorry for the trouble, but thanks for the help.

Haven't done the version txt and haven't rebuilt isos of newer games like persona yet though

This claims to be compatible with the psp1000:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9328694&type=product&id=1218085898135

It looks like its a kit that contains a fat battery along with a cover for the 2000/3000. Sony looks like they have they same thing on their sonystyle website.

Ah! I will give that a shot. I did format them in the PSP at the same time. I will try them individually now. Thanks!

Cool, and good luck. Report back once you've done it and tested it out. I'm curious if there is really some merit to it or if it was just dumb luck.

So what is everyone using as their memory solution? MicroSDHC cards with the Photofast CR-5400 or MS Pro Duos? Does anyone have any experience with Transcend microSDHC cards? Reliable?

Hopefully someone can help me out...

My buddy has a PSP-1000 he wants me to put CFW on, but he's already updated it to 6.10. Is it downgradeable? He says it's got a TA-81 motherboard or whatever.

I have a Pandora battery that I used to hack my 2000, but I've never done a 1000. What are my options?

From qj.net:
For CFW PSP users to update to 5.50 GEN-B2 (NEW METHOD)
Note: This app runs on any CFW, and can update your PSP to 5.50 GEN-B2 directly without any patches.
1 - Download 5.50 EBOOT and XGEN UPDATER V2.
2 - Rename the 5.50 EBOOT to exactly 550.PBP and copy it to the root of the memory stick.
3 - Extract the XGEN UPDATER V2, and place the UPDATE folder into the GAME folder inside the memory stick.
4 - Run the updater VIA XMB Game menu.
5 - Click on "Flash Install CFW 5.50 GEN-B2". this will then format the Flashs, load all modules of the updater, and then install it.
6 - When finished, press X to reboot, or O to shutdown.
You now have the latest CFW 5.50 GEN-B2 installed

Does somebody know if it's really safe? I heard that upgrading from M33-6 directly to GEN-B would brick the console...
I'm guessing that disabling all plug-ins before upgrading is mandatory no matter the method how you update the system...

I used this one-step updater from M33 and didn't encounter any problems.

It should be the same thing as the qj.net link but with all the files named and placed in the correct folders for you.

Version 3 of Yoshihiro's 5.55/6.00 Game Decyptor is out, and it seems to improve compatibility with 5.03 Gen and 5.00 M33-6!

oh well I caved and upgraded to 5.50 GEN and I'll stick with it

don't see a point going back down to 5.00 M33 just because decrypted games will work with it now

Yoshihiro's Game Decryptor? I believe so, but some games might require additional patches after decrypting in order to circumvent anti-piracy countermeasures. Soul Calibur is one such game.

Any 1000 is CFWable no matter what firmware is on it. The procedure should be pretty much the same as what you did to Pandora your 2000.

Sorry I'm abit loss my friend is still on the 5.00 M33 which option in the recovery menu holds the disable plugin option?

For my cases I errmmm didn't even check it's a miracle that I didn't brick my system now looking back at it...

Also where's the option is it in the 5.50 GEN B I just want to ensure that I disable all plugins now if there's a upgrade to a later version.

Used my friend's CFW PSP in order to Pandora my battery, used a shit load of MMS programs and finally I'm up to 5.50 Gen B2. I swear, once you go Custom, you can never fully go back. I missed simply having all of my owned PSP games on the mem stick itself, making switching rather easy.

Now, I need to rip Persona and all will be good.

If you boot into the recovery menu (hold R while powering on), there should juts be a menu option there that says "Plugins"... then you just turn off the ones you want.

I'm getting ready to use Yoshihiro's Game Decryptor and I'm stuck on the first step about opening the ISO file from UMD GEN 4.00. Thing is, I bought Prinny off of the PSN Store on my PS3 and after copying it to my PSP I am showing a folder named X:\PSP\GAME\ULUS10407 with the following files:

DOCINFO.EDAT
DOCUMENT.DAT
EBOOT.PBP

Since I don't have an ISO from a physical UMD, how do I go about decrypting the game so I can play on 5.00 M33-6? (I was going to update to 5.50 GEN-B but after seeing the current page of this thread with version 4 of Game Decryptor, I want to try to get it going under this CFW)

If we're talking about PSP games (not PSOne Classics), then you can use a PSP homebrew app called NPDecryptor. It'll only work on games you can actually run, but it takes the license information (from the purchase) that's stored on your PSP and uses it to strip the DRM out of EBOOT.PBP file you downloaded. It also converts the file into an ISO that you can store it with your other UMD rips, (or categorize it via a plugin).

Very handy. I use it all the time. I hate downloading shit from PSN and having to store it in only the specific gibberishy folder it is "supposed" to be in.

Try NPDecryptor.

Oh crap, I was thinking those were the same programs (just saw the Decryptor but missed the NP prefix). Thanks!

Hey guys, got a Q for you. I just put NFL Gameday '98 (PSOne) on my PSP and the game boots up just fine and I can navigate the menus, but when I try to start a game, it freezes on the loading screen.

Any suggestions/ideas? Much appreciated.

Edit: On a PSP Phat running 5.00 m33-6

what version of pops are you using? You can try the different versions to see which one works best for the game.

Is there a murmur from anyone though? I really want 6.10's SensMe app. Feels like an age since I installed a CFW that brought with it new functionality. I'm not seeing any news or progress reported at all. It just feels like a complete standstill :/

Is there any advantage to updated to Gen2 yet? I am runnin 5.0 m33-6 PSP 2001 and its working perfectly fine. I'd rather not mess with it unless there is some groundbreaking changes I will want.
