I agree. I love my Go. Maybe even as much as my GBM.Chemo said:You made the right decision. Now that it can actually pretty much play everything, the Go is the best handheld out there.

Anywhos I wanted to download PSP Custom Firmware 6.37 ME v7 off the psp-hacks site. I think currently my psp is Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3. I will have to confirm when I get homes.
I can't emulate anymore or play any of the latest stuff so I wanted to update. Do I need a pandora battery and Magic Stick to do this?, or can I just download the files and update following some steps etc?
I just pre-ordered Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection so i want to be set to play when it arrives on April 22. Otherwise I will just get a new psp.
I blame Ephemeris for leaving town so he is not around to help. Also for setting up my psp last year to play grand turismo 5 without telling me it would break my emulation O_O.... Yea Bro what up with that xD.
No seriously though this is my first time trying it on my own so any help would be appreciated : D.
Edit: I am running 5.50 Gen-B Full.
linkboy said:Install Promethius v4, that should improve your compability. I use it and I'm able to run Ys Chronicles and 3rd Birthday via memory card perfectly fine.
The 6.35 and 6.37 ME firmwares are really buggy and have given me nothing but issues every time I've tried to use them.
If you do decide to install one of them, all you need is the 6.35 or 6.37 eboot update and the installer. Rename the official update to 635.pbp or 637.pbp and put it on your root of your memory card. Put the ME update in the UPDATE folder and then run the 6.35 or 6.37 update from your PSP.
Also, if you do get them running and have no problems, let me know. I'm still interested in upgrading, but I want to see if anybody has issues.
JoeFenix said:I have a question, I want to revert back to official firmware and I've followed instructions online on how to do it but the PSP says that it is already running the latest version when I try to update.
I can't use the official system updater either and can't connect to PSN. I really just want to play God Eater, the umd won't work if I purchase a physical copy and am running custom firmware right?

-Suspend mode
-BlueTooth (DS3, heaphones, teethering...)
-Best screen
-Best formfactor
-Arguably best build quality (PSP1k comparable)
Lastly, while not a feature many will care about
- Slide-out/slide-in "turnon/sleep" functionality (like the DS). I prefer that over the button for some reason.
There are exclusive negatives too (like the weird charge/video/usb port), but IMO positives outweigh them.

The Go has shitty controls - the d-pad is merely ok, the stick is shitty, the buttons are too small and clicky and the L/R buttons are complete shit.
Playing Dissidia on a Go is a nightmare![]()
linkboy said:It can, but its temporary and only works on 6.20 or 6.35.

Why would you do that? said:I thought the buttons and stick were better, except the L/R buttons, which I think sucks.
I'm used to the L/R now, but when I first played it, it was so annoying.
The plus side is, you can use a PS3 controller if you really hate the PSP's controls.

Infact alot of new games are working on this firmware, I thought it would be incompatible?
I had the exact same problem when I upgraded. Unfortunately, I think you're just screwed. :/Dave1988 said:Upgraded from 5.50 Pro-4 to 6.35 Pro-B2 and now all my saves appear as corrupted? How can I fix this?
Well, if you access your Recovery Menu you can change the ISO Driver (the way ISOs are handled being booted) to NP9660, Inferno, or M33. NP9660 bypasses the corrupt data issue depending on how that game was saved on which CFW.
You can just download MagicSave (version 3.5) and fix your games rather though. That's what I do.
How to effectively use MagicSave:
enable the plugin, you should know how to do this, don't ask me.
Press VOL UP and DOWN buttons during a game, navigate into Save Data and click "Read Invalid Data", exit the Magic Save menu and attempt to load the Save data. If it works, immediately save over it.
If it doesn't, try booting the game up with different ISO Drivers.
I have a PSP3000 with 6.35 Pro-B4 quick recovery, and tried to use version.txt to run my Pix 'n Love Minis (original, bought in my PS3). It needs 6.37, and version.txt doesn't seem to work here.linkboy said:Check your PM's, I sent you one on how to fix it.
For anyone else who's having this issue, here's what I send him
Follow these steps
1) Go to recovery console (hold R while the system boots)
2) Under configuration enable Version.txt
3) Now go to advance and access Flash 0 (be careful as flash 0 is the internal PSP flash)
4)search for version.txt
This is what the file should look like
release:5.00:
build:2740,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:46876@release_500,0x05000010:
vsh6264@release_500,v46652@release_500,20081010:
target:1:WorldWide
(this was what I posted to get FF7 to work back on page 107, but its the same for reverting back to OFW). Just copy the above and replace your version.txt with it. Make a backup of your old version.txt before hand just to be safe though. Also, don't mess around with anything else in flash 0 as you can hose your PSP that way.
What's happening is your version.txt file is set to something like 9.90. When you try to install OFW, its at a lower requirement and won't work. You might have to enable hidden files and hidden system files for them to show up.
Once you replace the 9.90 with 5.00 or 5.50 (actally anything lower then 6.37), your system should update just fine.
Could you post the info here? Can't find anything on it atm. Thanx.ScrabbleDude said:TN-E is out and the change log is awesome. Gonna load it up on my Go.

shidoshi said:Is there any fear in going onlike via a PSP while it's running custom firmware? I know it's not exactly safe over on the PS3 side, but unsure how that works here. As I said before, trying to run a PSN-purchased copy of Phantasy Star Portable 2, and am now running 6.35 PRO "B".
I did the initial connection just fine, and then I suddenly thought, "Oh crap, maybe I shouldn't be doing this." *laughs*
