Sony has never sold the Psp Go battery, so any battery you buy online will be used, meaning it came from another Psp Go. It also seems to be completely out of stock everywhere except for this: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?itemId=330679214467&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=46639911196

I would buy another Psp Go before paying Sony $90 for a battery replacement. Seriously, wtf were they thinking? Bunch of dumbasses...

Thanks. The thing that sucks is I got one of those invisible shield full body covers painstakingly installed on it and I don't want to have to repeat the process. Oh well if there's nothing I can do.

The PSP was hacked via the battery and a memory card, at least that's what Sony thought.

It was actually hacked because they were dumb enough to leave a back door wide up (sound familiar).

By making the battery non-removable on the Go, they killed off the Pandora Battery (which they ended up doing on newer 2k and all 3k models when they actually plugged up the CPU exploit that enabled it in the first place).

Is there any way to get games from a different account to work? I have PSX and PSP games split across 2 different accounts (both are mine and both are NA accounts). It seems stupid I'd basically have to pirate a game I own to get it to work.

I've been trying to install(temp) 6.60 PRO B10 on my PSP 2000. Just updated to OFW 6.60 and when trying to put the temp CFW on it, it installs, prompts me to restart, then a black screen, and a sudden "POP" goes off. It never restarts into CFW and the power light goes off. Do I have to use hellcat recovery or is there a different problem? I was on 5.50 Prom 4 before I flashed to OFW.

Follow-up to sca2511's question: is OFW 6.60 what new games require these days? I too used 5.50 GEN for a long time before recently moving to 6.20 PRO.

I ask because after reading a thread about essential PSP games (I can't find it now; sorry), someone posted some usefil info: Valkyria Chronicles 2 plus all its DLC was available on the PS Store for $22.99!

I've never double-dipped and paid twice for the same product, but (1) buying the DLC separately would probably cost that much, and (2) I'm getting a Vita and thought I'd make that my first digital purchase.

So I connected my PSP to the PS3 and tried to transfer VC2 and the dozen or so DLC items -- the P3 refused to move them, saying that I needed to do a firmware update.

I then tried to grab them using my computer, with the PSP connected to it by USB, and it gave me another error.

This is frustrating because I've never had any problems running my ripped VC2 UMD on either 5.50 (which I had for a very long time) or 6.20 CFW.

PS Store-on-CFW veterans, help me out! What do I do? I don't want to feel like a chump, having paid for software that I can't use!

I can get all my UMDs and all my PS1 games on my PSP? This is amazing.

I just saw P3 Portable for $25 and Innocent Sin and FF 4 Complete for $20 each. I'm picking them all up this week.

Use Media Go to transfer the game files.

I am having problem I did as you said when I put the iso in iso folder and try to play data corrupted message not game.

Wow at the loading difference for my two Taiko games!
What used to take ages to load a new song takes less than half a second! Love this Go.

Too bad the newer Taiko game is so expensive still, not a priority to get it though.

On the XMB, hit select.
Change the USB Device to "UMD Disc"
Now when you connect to your PC with USB, you'll see the UMD instead of the normal MS filesystem.

It's as simple as dragging the UMD iso to a folder on the PC.
Then putting that iso file onto your memory stick in the root directory in a folder called ISO.

You can see here: (not my pic)

nevermind. Fixed it by formatting my memory stick, then applying CFW PRO B10. I guess it didn't like that I had stuff on the memory stick from 5.50 GEN/Prom 4

The most up to date PSP firmware is 6.60 and since you're on 6.20, the PS3 will complain. Fear not, you can fool it into thinking you're on 6.60 by changing your version.txt file. Do the following:

- Bring up the VSH menu on your PSP and switch the "USB device" option to Flash0
- Now connect your PSP to your Mac and navigate to the root:\vsh\etc folder on your PSP
- you'll see a file labelled as version.txt which you'll need to edit, make it look like this:

release:6.60:
build:3062,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:50781@release_660,0x05050010:
vsh:p6399@release_660,v50953@release_660,20090415:
target:1:WorldWide

Basically, there's 4 instances where your file will probably show 6.20/620 that needs to be switched to 6.60/660. I've bolded them above to show the locations

- Now save and close the file and disconnect your PSP
- IMPORTANT: be sure to open your VSH menu again and switch "USB device" back to memory stick
- Now connect to your PS3 and you should be able to transfer.

Got the firmware installed. Couldn't find anything different until I hit the Select key.

One of my UMDs, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, fails when I try and rip it.

It gets about 80% of the way then errors out.

Is there any thing I can do?

Plug PSP into USB

Copy paste the contents of:
PSP:/SEPLUGINS/game.txt
PSP:/SEPLUGINS/pops.txt
PSP:/SEPLUGINS/vsh.txt

Here.

My SEPLUGINS folder is in my "Removable Disk (E:)" folder where there's my PSP, PICTURE, MUSIC, VIDEO folders as well.
Is it in the correct folder (ig: Computer > Removable Disk (E:) > )?
Or do i have to move my SEPLUGINS folder into my PSP folder (ig: Computer > Removable Disk (E:) > PSP >)

I have the 3 txt files in my SEPLUGINS folder but somehow im unable to take a screenshot. My psp is running on CFW Pro as well.

Sounds like the UMD itself is scratched.
Does it look in any bad shape at all?

You could try one of the alternative homebrew apps that are available to dump UMD's to your memory stick (rather than the dragging and dropping to your PC method via the VSH menu) which may have a different result....something like ISO Tool or UMD Dumper has the ability to dump your game onto your memory stick (provided there's room of course)

It may not make any difference if it's a UMD read error because of a scratch, but it might do.

I can't see anything obvious, and trying to turn the UMD to take a closer look is proving impossible.

I also had Gran Turismo PSP fail as well.

Do either of those tools work with Pro CFW under 6.60? They seem rather old...

Edit:
What does the "UMD ISO Mode" do? It's currently set to "Inferno"

Had a third UMD (Gods Eater Burst) fail as well. :-/
Always with 79.1 MB left to go.

Tried UMD Dumper, and it worked on Castlevania.

Tried Gran Turismo and it said there wasn't enough space.

(16GB Memory Stick with 9.5 GB free)

Will pull the Castlevania ISO off and try again.

This is a pain. :-/

Edit Again:
I can rip one ISO this way. As long as I delete it before starting the next one, everything works.

That's really odd.
I'd keep using UMD dumper then and copy from the MS to your PC so you can keep a backup.
Just have to repeat with all your games.

Now that I got 6.60 to appear on my memory stick I got this message when trying to start it: "The update cannot be started. You must use update data that is compatible with the model in use. For details, visit Sony Computer Entertainment Web site for your region". What did I do? D:

Xomtor, this is some fantastic advice -- I never would have been able to figure out how to get into the flash0 and then figure out which file to edit!

I'm having a problem, though. When I try to open version.txt and edit it, the Mac tells me that it "could not be saved" even if I unlock the file in its "Get Info" window.

Incidentally, some of the numbers are a little different in my file:

release:6.60:
build:4047,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:55383@release_660,0x06020010:
vsh:p6544@release_660,v56454@release_660,20091118:
target:1:WorldWide

(The real file has 6.20 and 620; I'm trying to paste in the one with 6.60 and 660. Does the 0x06020010 refer to 6.20? Should it be changed? Yours would "really" be 5.50 if this supposition is true.)

The PSP's memory, when connected to the Mac using USB, isn't locked, and I can lock and unlock the files freely -- the Mac just continues to see them as locked even if I unlock them.

I've tried connecting using USB both from the main PSP menu and from the Recovery Menu. I've got both the "USB DEVICE" (in the Pro VSH Menu, seen when you press Select) and the Pro Recovery Menu -> Configuration -> XMB USB Device set to "Flash0".

Am I doing something wrong?

Whilst spoofing the firmware is good advice, doing it via the internal flash0 version.txt is unnecessary on PRO firmware these days. If you're on PRO firmware you can just put a modified version.txt in your seplugins folder and enable use version.txt in the Recovery Menu.

If you're running PRO firmware - Copy that info into a new txt file (save it as version so it's then your version.txt) and just drop it into your seplugins folder. Then when you have your version.txt option enabled in the Recovery menu it should display differently under your firmware info in the system information. Hopefully that should allow your PS3 transfer. However, it may also be the case you need to duplicate that version.txt file you just made and rename the second copy usbversion.txt (so that you have both in your seplugins) to allow PS3 transfers to work.

After ripping Crisis Core I can't get it to run.

Compressed ISO, regular ISO, regardless of what ISO Mode I pick I get a black screen and am forced to restart the PSP.

Am I doing something wrong or do some games just not like to run like this?

xist

I dumped my copy of Crisis Core (drag and dropped via the VSH menu) and it worked fine so it must be something you're doing which is causing the problem.

Have tried the different dumping methods? There's actually a UMD Size verifier floating around somewhere that allows you to check the integrity of your dumps so that may also be a useful check to perform.

Bah, that ISO was one I dragged & dropped from the PSP while mounted in ISO mode. When I ripped it using UMDDumper it started up fine.

Perhaps you should try to work out where the problem stems from by trying alternative USB cables and USB ports on your PC. Perhaps it's simply a dodgy cable?

Copied the ISO, compressed it, copied the CSO back and it plays fine.

This is the same cable I used the first time.

The problem seems to be with copying UMD ISOs while mounted via USB.

Can't imagine why it's not allowing you to save as it's just a plain txt file. Unfortunately, I'm not fluent enough in Mac to be able to say.

Incidentally, some of the numbers are a little different in my file:

Yours probably looks like this:

release:6.20:
build:4047,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:55383@release_620,0x06020010:
vsh:p6544@release_620,v56454@release_620,20091118:
target:1:WorldWide

Does the 0x06020010 refer to 6.20? Should it be changed?

Nah, that can be left alone. Just try changing the 4 bolded parts above. Actually, try following xist's instructions since you're on 6.20 PRO firmware. I'm still on 5.50 so I need to edit my version.txt in Flash0.

Xomtor, when I said some of the numbers were different, I meant the digits after "build", "system", and "vsh"; I had already plugged "660" and "6.20" in where necessary but didn't touch any of the other numbers.

Xist, I tried pasting my new "version.txt" into "seplugins", twice over (as both version.txt and usbversion.txt). When I reset the device, my System Information profile now reads 6.20 PRO-B10 for the system software and [Model: 05g Fake: 6.60] for the MAC address. Will this be enough to let my PS3 send the files over?

Edvardelis, have you tried grabbing the ISO directly off the PSP using ISOTool? I've gotten that to work easily. Version 1.977 is on my PSP and has done a wonderful job pulling UMD contents directly to the memory stick without the need for a PC. You need to follow the rip with a run through ISOtool's patcher, though.

This may be a stupid question but I haven't had a pspgo long and I haven't got any manuals for it. Is it possible via CFW or otherwise to pair more than one ps3 controller to it at the same time to play ps1 2 player games?

Oh I see what you're saying. Yea don't worry about those numbers; they may possibly be different on your machine so don't copy and paste the lines from my post; edit your own text file by hand.

Just be sure to change only the 4 parts I bolded as those are the ones that reference the firmware version. Just be sure all 4 instances make reference to 6.60 firmware. You'll notice that each instance follows the word "release". The first instance will say release: and here you'll need to enter 6.60 (note the decimal), the other 3 will say release_ and these will need to be followed by 660 (no decimal). BTW, were you able to get your Mac to save the file?
