PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Yes, but they lost: Keys were leaked. No need for hardware or exploits anymore.

So there is not any reason to not update your firmware anymore? I have a PSP go running 6.39 now.

I also haven't checked out the scene for a while. The last time I looked it seemed like emulator development was dead with most updates over a year old. Has the leaked keys sparked things at all?

Correct. The best-practice approach to CFW now is upgrading to the latest OFW then running temporary CFW on top of it.

Nobody's written a really good SNES emulator yet, sadly, but some of the projects have gotten some upgrades, at least.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm still toying with the idea of selling my Go to get a Vita but the fact that CFW is so open makes me want to keep it.

Try this one

http://www1.axfc.net/uploader/He/so/254285.zip

There was a problem with All Stars in an older build of Euphoria. I think the newest versions fix it

Thank you!!!

Wow, All Stars runs perfectly now (SMB2 at least). :)

Any idea on which GBA emulator should be the best or at least works for 6.20 TN-D?
If I can get that to work then I think the PSP-Go would be totally amazing as a portable gaming device. ;)

By the way, is there a full-speed Neo Geo / MAME emulator? I recall using one that was pretty much full-speed back when I still had a PSP-2000, but have not kept up with the scene now to know what is what for the PSP-Go.

So I just got back onto my PSP. its a PSP-1000 and the firmware is 3.50, so you're saying its ok to upgrade to the latest firmware - what custom firmware should I get so I can still play my SNES games?

I tried to install a signed version of Picodrive on my Vita. It doesn't work, the content manager says that the file is corrupted.

So a security breach has been found in Motorstorm Arctic Edge (you can load homebrew using the PSP emulator), so what did Sony do ? Well, just remove the game from all the PSN stores ! Apparently even people who were downloading it saw it removed from their download list.

Stay classy Sony.

I wonder if they'll patch it up and put it back on sale again.

I sure hope so. But they should've at least made an announcement (like "The game is currently unavailable, we are working things out") and let the customers who were downloading it actually finish their download instead of brutally cutting everything.

I'm trying to run Lumines from my memory stick on 5.50 prometheus, but it won't run. This is the only game I'm having problems with. I've backed it up several times, so it isn't a bad backup. Should I upgrade to 6.60? Is updating as easy as installing a firmware, or do I have to do something first since I am on a custom firmware already?

Hello guys, I have some questions regarding plugins.

I got a PSP 3000 running HEN 6.60 PRO. So far, so good. Now I'd like to put some plugins, as I have some useful ones on my PSP 2000.

Examples : a plugin to save power/battery (I used to have one called PSP Power Saver), Hold Plus, Game Categories, PSP HUD...

I've tried to find a list of plugins compatible or updated for 6.60, but so far, nothing really conclusive.

Does anyone have a good list of plugins I could use for this HEN ? Would be really appreciated, thanks a lot.

And thanks to fatty for his guide, helped me out a bit too, should be in the OP.

I finally installed custom firmware 6.60 on my PSP Go, but I have a few questions. The fast recovery and updater applications got clumped together in the middle of my list of 20 games. Is there a way to move it to the top or bottom of the list in any way?

Oh and what can I actually do with custom firmware? What're some tips and tricks? Are there any recommended emulators?

Thanks in advance for the help. :)

Is there a way to change the region of your savegames that doesn't involve SGDeemer? It doesn't seem to work with Ys Chronicles and I wanted to switch to the European download version.

Can someone help me recover/fix my KH:BBS saves? I had them on 5.50gen-D3, and the upgrade to 6.60 PRO has resulted in the infamous "savegame corrupted" error. I used to have another PSP running on 5.50, but the buttons have shorted out and I'm now only left with my 6.60pro PSP. I haven't had any luck with the Magicsave plugin :/

Download and install Category Lite. Bask in the glory of fully customizable folder structures for your games/apps!

So I followed the link at the beginning of the thread. Looks extremely extremely simple. EXCEPT that the past is causing trouble. Looks like my PSP is currently using 5.50 GEN-D3. Evidently it tried to be sneaky to prevent updates from happening, because when I go to update to official 6.60, I get the message "The system software of your PSP system is version 9.90. There is no need to update."

EDIT: OK, I see now that I apparently need to take a couple more steps to flash down to 5.0 first.

So, I finally got the guts to install PRO CFW 6.60 from m33

But I got a few questions, was there any point to install OFW 5.0? I didn't do that step since I couldn't for some reason.

Can I got to the PSN store and buy games? I seem to be able browse the store

I went and put the 6.60 CFW on my PSP the other day. I'm aware that I can keep it that way as long as I don't shut it down entirely, but what happens if I want to switch Memory Sticks?

Pop stick out, put new stick in.

Firmware is still in the memory. Shut it down, OFW comes up and you have to redo the "flashing" to get back on CFW.

The files should only take up a few MBs so you could just stick it on both memory cards if you don't want to bother switching memory cards at boot.

After doing the homebrew I decided I want to back out of it. So, I have an 09g PSP 3000 with 6.60. I'm using the last version of the downgrader to go back to 6.20. I'm getting the "file is corrupted" error. Can anyone help me?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. AFAIK the latest OFW is 6.60.

I'm saying that I want out. From what it seems the easiest way to do this is to downgrade to an older version of the firmware then upgrade back to the current firmware to completely wipe your psp of any homebrew.

Why would you want to do that? CFW and OFW don't have any differences outside of CFW being much better.

You don't need to do that.

Did you install/launch PRO 6.60 CFW? Launch it again (not the FastRecovery) and uninstall the modules. Once done you can just delete the files from your memory card.

Downgrading a 3000 is still very unstable last I heard and could end up in a bricked PSP.

@Wazzim, it's his choice to get rid of Homebrew so we should just guide him :p

Using the firmware feels like you're walking between electrical fences and one false move could have you screwed.

Can anyone remind the best way to convert a psp save file from one region to another, I did it a few times before but forgot which plugin or program I needed.

I want to convert my 300+hour save file in MH portable 2ndG to EU Unite then upload that to my PS3 so I can then send it to my Vita and play it on the OLED screen.

Or if someone could do it for me I would very thankful!

I'm not that lazy...

Go to system settings > system information or something and it should tell you your firmware.

Have you ever installed PRO CFW? I didn't ask this at first because I already assumed.
