I went ahead and hit square anyway the MS light flickered for a bit then shut down. I figured I was on the right track so I went ahead and did the next step (hit X after inserting the tool).
So now I put the normal battery in and turned it on. Um, how do I know if it worked??
I have 3.90 M33-2 at the moment and I can do everything you're looking to do (In theory).Super_Chicken said:I've finally tracked down a pandora battery. Can you guys gives give me a brief summary of which custom firmware level to upgrade too?
I'm currently at 3.72 on a PSP slim. I wanna play GOW when I buy it next week, and I like the idea of the network updates, but I'd also like to be able to play my PSX games that I rip to PC as well as some of the older emulators.
So which version should I throw on my PSP slim?
Go to system information (System Settings menu), it'll tell you the firmware level.eznark said:So now I put the normal battery in and turned it on. Um, how do I know if it worked??

Super_Chicken said:Please elaborate on the "In theory." Also i won't be affected by the memory card slow down, I've read about somewhere on the internet?? I've got a legit 4GB Sangate Pro Duo so I'm hoping the .iso's will run fine? Makes carrying my multiple games on the subway possible

The in theory relates to the fact that I'm having problems at the moment, but fear not as further investigations have revealed this is likely to be specific to me.Super_Chicken said:Please elaborate on the "In theory." 1. I'm not the best person to ask. I do this pretty much only so that I can play games I own straight from the memory stick.eznark said:Cool, thanks. I did what navanman's guide suggested and went to 3.71 m33-4.
Couple quick questions
1. Now what? Everyone says CFW is the shit...what can I now do with this sweet baby
2. How can I rip my UMD's to the MC, and bout how big are they? I have a 4 gig card.
Thanks a lot, this is easily the most cordial and helpful thread on GAF. Much appreciated to the uninitiated

Super_Chicken said:Another question I'm kinda wondering what's so fancy about the 3.71 m33-4 that's better than all the CFW above it?
navanman said:In what way do you mean. IMO there is no reason for Phat PSP users to upgrade to 3.80, 3.90 M33 as it hsa added no new features to it and it plays all released UMD games also.
Slim PSP users get Skype and Pandora/Time Machine IPL functionality.
Super_Chicken said:What about the patapon demo that just came out last week? It and the god of war demo both require 3.80 to play.
navanman said:Papaton, the full UMD release works on 3.71 M33, dunno about GOW until its released.
Yup, so PowerISO officially is no use for ripping PSX CDs. I really should have tested this before forking out the $30 on a full version.navanman said:Edit: No45 sounds like a problem ripping the PSX game to me. You could try another program called CDRWIN.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure they'll have much sympathy with me if I ask for a refund. :lol
Mejilan said:Did you set up the 1.50 installer properly? The 1.50 installer eboot.pbp needs to be renamed 150.pbp.
Pretty much exactly how you set up 3.40 OE, actually.

3.52 M33 Readme said:PSP 3.52 M33 Installation
1 - If you are under official 1.50 PSP firmware, copy kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders from "1.50only/" of this download to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME/" and use it.
2 - Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition/M33, copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME" (1.50fw) or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150" (SE/OE)
3 - Download official 3.52 eboot, rename it to 352.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
4 - Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
5 - Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33 CREATOR". Once finished, it will go back to the XMB.
6 - Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33UPDATE". You'll have to press X to agree to the installation.
7 - When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually.
8 - Enjoy your 3.52 M33
Here is the latest update:
- Now uses 3.52!!!
- M33 NO-UMD: fixed problem with Simple 2500 Series Portable, The IQ Cube
- Fix a bug which made Go!Cam, GPS and sceKernelLoadExecVSH* not work in game mode.
- PSN downloaded PSX games support wasn't working in 3.51 M33 (didn't work in latest OE's either). Now it is working again. If an original PSN game still doesn't work, we recommend to delete files KEYS.BIN if exists, and copy the game again from ps3 to psp.

Mejilan said:Reading the readme would probably go a long way to helping you out, if you're talking about the 1.50 installer. Because the official 1.50 installer is NOT the same thing as a 1.50 kernel patch.
Here you go:
Mejilan said:Yeah, in the x:\ISO folder. But first use YACC (Yet Another CSO Converter) to compress it into a CSO!
Mejilan said:Dude, again, you need to READ that readme. You're only supposed to use the kxploitpatcher if you're PSP is running on 1.50 official. It's the first freakin' step. Read the ENTIRE readme and plot out your course of action, if you must, but read it. Understand it. It is NOT complicated.

navanman said:3.90 M33 is identical in every way to 3.80 if you have Phat PSP. If you have Slim PSP, it has Skype functionality included.
First of all...where exactly do I install this - in my popsloader folder inside the seplugins folder? If so, I don't see a file that it would replace, since I don't already have a systemctrl.prx file.ark AleX also recently released a patch for 8GB memory stick support on any CFW. On addressing the issue with the Popsloader, Dark AleX said that:
I haven't been able to reproduce the problem in my 8GB card, but anyways i think the reason is literally that the memory stick was not ready in the time plugins are loading, althoug the memory stick modules are loaded, but they require some time to initialize as they are executing code in other thread. The code in 3.80-3.90 of plugins loading is same, it was probably the change of sony ms driver what altered timings, etc.
To install the PRX, Dark AleX gave these instructions: "Try this prx (systemctrl.prx for the phat, systemctrl_02g.prx for the slim), replacing the one of the flash0 kd folder, and tell me if it works after this."
Dark Alex also gave this warning: "By using this prx's you won't be able to init the PSP without a memory stick inserted. I would fix that in a formal release, but I need to know first if the trick is working."
Note that by using installing this PRX, your PSP 3.80 M33 will brick without the memory stick. Users are asked to be careful when installing the app.

Two things:navanman said:You should use the Network Update auto-update functionality built into your CFW. It will update to 3.90 M33-2 which has some fixes for SEPLUGINS & POPSLOADER on various different MS.
No45: Emulator talk is fine here. I'm sure lots of folks can help you out with the best and how to use them.
Pancakes R Us said:Two things:
1. Will I still run the risk of that bricking error.
2. Will updating to 3.90 result in my losing the ability to do anything I can do on 3.80/encounter problems because this CFW is pretty new?
Jimmy Stav said:While my logic was wacky, I thought it still applied to me because I was under the impression that my firmware was actually below 1.5.
