PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but update 2 is up already for those who want to download it.

Also...

"So it's true. How would you merge two PSX eboots though? Can you give me link to instructions?"

Can you merge more than two? Like if a game is 3 discs or discs long can you merge the 3 or 4 of them? I'm not sure if any games require that many but I was wondering just in case. Thanks.

I think u can merge up to 5 if im not mistaken but not for fw 3.80, dax is working on a new popsloader for it.

So you lose that functionality by upping to 3.80 then? (Well for now at least?)

No you should still be able to use it with the POPs built into 3.80 M33. BUT if you wanted to run it under 3.71 or 3.72 POPS which also support the feature, you will have to wait for new POPSloader release.

ok im bout to pull out my old fat psp that i havent touched in a lonnnnng time, i know it had the official firmware of 1.5, whats the fastest , easiest way to get myself to this 3.8 custom firmware?

I'll wait for the 1.5 kernel... I'm still stuck at the sacred grounds in Cave Story :(
I'm running 3.80 M33-2 and Cave Story works fine on the 3.80 kernel.

Seriously, that Network Update feature is amazing. How good is D_A?

Reset PSP to defaults and then use this guide. It can't verify but it should work on 1.50FW.

Damn, I just PSP Radio for the first time. It really does dump all over the official Internet Radio webpage app. I'm going to be using that at work tomorrow.

What??

I don't get it? I'm running 3.52 M33-4 but when I run the update program it says I need 3.52 M33-3 or higher and then quits out.

I'm running high enough firmware. Its a PSP phat.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong??

Go to recovery mode. Check to see if your homebrew settings is set to 3.52, not 1.50.

you've run 3.52 M33 and also *run* the updater for 3.52 M33-4 (it says M33-4 in the settings->about?)

I've been doing this every update since 3.60, but I have yet to upgrade... sorry for my ignorance, but how would one go about updating from 3.60 M33 on a PSPslim to the new 3.80 M33?

Also does Remote Play work, or do I still have to do all that other stuff that I was too afraid to try before?

I think you can go directly to 3.80 without any other work since you already have CFW.

Download Dark-Alex's file for 3.80 original release and the official Sony firmware 3.80. Name the sony firmware file to 380.pbp

Put DA's and Official 3.80 files in PSP\GAME\UPDATE (just copy the update folder from the DArelease to PSP\GAME\ and move 380.pbp in the UPDATE folder). Now run the M33 program that appears on your PSP.

You should be able to go straight to 3.71 M33 or 3.80 M33. If you update to 3.80 M33, there is no need for the remote play fix.

Alright folks. My turn. I think I'll only upgrade my Slim for now. I'll wait for the updated 1.50 patch before upgrading my Fat.

This is probably a very stupid question, but does PSP support WPA2? Because I see a WPA-PSK option but not WPA2-PSK...
Nope.

Neither does the iPhone *gasp*

Fixed.

I have downgraded 3.72 slims and numerous fats.

Yes, with a Pandora solution. I was saying that everything up to and including 3.50 can be cracked with a software exploit OTHER than a Pandora. 3.51+ has no software exploit.

My slim upgraded just fine to 3.80 m33-2 from 3.72 m33-4. Everything seems to be working solid except for mame4all, which has some audio glitches and some slowdown. Now, hopefully the dAppletv theme will get updated for 3.80. I didn't take that into consideration when I upgraded my CFW.

I have a hard time trusting the Network Update feature they added. Is there any proof it actually works? I would hate to use it and get an official Sony version.

It is flawless buddy try it out, D_A probably removed all links that lead to OFW and replaced it with his web, so there, no problems.

Hah, I literally just finished installing 3.80m33 and didn't want to bother downloading to PC, connecting via USb, disconnecting and then installing...

...then I remembered network update feature. Worked beautifully and was much less of a hassle :D

Just downloaded and updated thru "Network Update". Totally noob-proof and automatic.
Seriously good piece of coding.

Have you ever actually USED the Network Update feature?
It downloads the program for running later. You can CHOOSE to jump to it, but you can also exit out and run it later. And THERE You can see it's DA's.

Um, some GAFfers used it. Besides that, you need to step through a few confirmations before you actually flash your PSP.

Can't be said enough, GREAT PIECE OF CODE. Net updates are an easy win. Dark_Alex: Undisputed PSP MVP. PEACE.
We couldnt see a breakthrough big enough to dispose him of his PSP crown...

Can anyone advise me on my upgrade path? I'm on 3.40 OE-A and haven't done this in months!

Am I right in saying that I need to upgrade to 3.52 M33 then upgrade that to 3.80 M33? Do I need to upgrade the revisions too?
