PSP FIRST EMU !!!!!!!

Your wish, I have added shinobi for pure joy of seeing it playable.

Again, sorry, for the crappy quality, I have no time to do a proper picture or to play searching for a more visually appealing zone. I will try to take better pictures later if it´s possible.

Dangnabbit! I want to run this stuff now!

I would *love* to have the home, expanded version of Ms Pac-Man in portable form. And many other games, too!

Hurry with the hack for 1.5 units!

I totally agree. Seeing all of these great screens is pure torture!

*weeps once again for his broken Japanese launch system which is still 1.0, but is unplayable* :(

What's so broken about it? is it the one that fell out of your pocket when you were getting off the bus?, you know you could always Ebay that for parts :D

SMB Deluxe? I've never even heard of that, what is it?

It was a Gameboy Color game that had SMB 1, SMB Lost Levels, and some other goodies. It was pretty cool at the time. If you had the GB Printer, it had a sortve SMB Print Shop built in you could do stuff with.

Do you have a link to this? Isn't there a large collection of prior art, from homebrews to Digital Eclipse's GBC games?
It came to light on the forum last year... alas, I can't find it now. :(

jesuschrist! , those pictures are so good. Ok Ok lets have predictions on what the psp could potentially emulate? I think it could do up to N64, PSX maybe saturn? (probabley not).

i'm pretty amazing how fast they got these emulators running. man, my psp is gonna get so much play time when they crack 1.5 (not like i've been playing PSP every day since launch, but this will just make it even better)

I find it very interesting that the PCE emulation pics don't look very distorted, if at all. Are there borders on the sides to preserve the PCE's aspect ratio or is the scaling just not apparent in the photographs so far? In any case, looks cool.

Well, it didn't fall out of my pocket. Idiot bus driver drove right over a curb and threw everybody around. My PSP was in my pocket and my hip was thrown into the railing. :(

But yes, it is that one. I probably should try to recoup some of the loss, but I wouldn't know how much to charge for it.

I'll be happy if it tops out at NES, GB/GBC/GBA, SNES, Genesis, and 1990 or so arcade games.

Wishlist:

The above, plus:

Lynx, simulating linx cable with wifi! (I can dream, no)

Atari 7800/2600

Vectrex

And dreaming here-- PS1.

I want the Amiga too.

And I dont think N64/Saturn/PS1 is too much dreaming. We wont see them soon, as they arent that much into 3D development, but the power would be sufficient for sure.

I bought an American PSP so im outta luck.. Which came with 3 dead pixels visable in the dark background.

Luckily I bought it from Best Buy with 2 year replacement warrently. They are refunding me the whole I payed for it, plus i get to keep the psp :lol

Now someone break firmware 1.50...

Oh ok, I knew it was something like that. Well as for charging for it, I'd say 120$USD is a good price, I know there are people shopping around Ebay for Broken or very cheap 1.00 Jap units so they can DEV with them, maybe even figure out a fool proof way to replace the firmware/bios chip.

Can someone 'translate' the latest news on www.psphacker.com for me? Is that good news for 1.5 owners?

In short, it's a sample buffer overflow hack that makes it possible to run arbitrary code on the machine. Now all it needs is for someone to code a loader and we're good to go! Very good news for 1.5 owners! Very good news indeed. *drools uncontrolably*

Depends on the ROM, I think... also it helps to do a clean boot.

What do you mean? How exactly is the emu supposed to be installed on the mem stick? The PSP can see it and shows its logo. But it freezes once the PSP jingle plays. I don't even get to the interface. What're the steps?

Edit: Ok, now it says no "Rom header file found". Wtf is that?

For the SNES emulator, I think you have to rename the rom to "ROM".whatever the extension. SNES emulation is only it beta form though so its abit slow but with sound.

Yeah, it's pretty flaky for now. You're best leaving it alone for a while until it improves. There's plenty to go at with the much better NES, PC Engine and Game Boy emulators! Someone seems to be working on an MSX emulator now too...

Is there a good NES emu? The one I'm using seems to be ass slow.
Go for Famicontest 0.3 instead of InfoNES. Although Famicontest runs at full speed, it has sound and graphical errors for some games.

Hmm, maybe I'll give it a shot. The extra cash would be nice....

all these emulators coming out are cool I guess, but I would prefer them to just concentrate on one emulator at a time and just optomize it, instead of rushing out a slew of them that all run crappy.

You do realize it's not ONE team working on a bunch of different stuff but a whole bunch of different developers working on their own projects right?

Could you think for a moment, why there'd be so many different releases of different emulators?

I figure in about a month the 1.50 problem will be solved.

Any justification for that belief?

I don't see a quick fix for this one - it's all dependent on finding a way to execute unsigned code or finding a way to sign code without Sony's permission. The former is unlikely and will always be subject to future patches, the latter is a lot of work, with a leak from within Sony being unlikely but perhaps the best hope.

I would pass of Snes at the moment, it needs improvement, it's just a matter of time. Same for Neogeo Pocket one.

But you have GBC/GB and specially Pc Engines, that it´s a very good emulator full of great games to play (playing portable Parodius at full PSP screen it´s a joy).

It's a shame that the PSP homebrew scene seems to have devolved into a collection of emulator ports and old games. Why can't somebody do something truly innovative, like write a web browser, an ebook reader or a wardriving app for it? Is it just that there aren't any developers doing PSP homebrew with enough skill for that sort of thing? If that's the case, it doesn't hold much hope for 1.5 being cracked.

Perhaps it's that it's only just been 'cracked', and people are still figuring it all out? Nah, that couldn't be it.
