Psychonauts 2: Exclusive Look At New Level Gameplay (4K)

I don't think there's a valid contract since that would have been through their previous publisher Starbreeze, but MS is smart and they have probably seen from Epic what happens when you pull a switcheroo on a crowd funded project. It's a ton of refunds and bad PR. They COULD have done it but they're smart enough to know not to.

I think late summer, sometime in August, and I base that mostly on where they are in both the production and marketing cycle. They have been content locked for months now, and they're doing a lot of press and interviews, this is coming out before their big fall titles.
Fig may have different rules than Kickstarter. Fig was also started by Tim Schafer I believe so adhering to the platform rules is a good idea. I think KS is just crowdfunding buy Fig is like crowdfunding + a guarantee and even profit sharing? Or something like that. Either way, they're committing and it's good that they are.

That's an even more important contract, a contract with the customers who funded the game. They did so expecting a Playstation 4 version at the minimum, so Microsoft would run into a lot of legally dicey territory by not releasing it to Playstation.
They'd have to offer refunds I think, the way Shenmue III did.

It would have been a boneheaded move, just as that deal was for Epic.

Refunding the crowd sourced money is a totally reasonable way out. There would be no possible way double fine could have offered a ps4 version to funders without having a publisher, unless it was a digital only release.

Finished the original for the first time the other day, I was thinking on why I didn't play it earlier as I usually go for this sort of game as a nice break from big action /RPG stuff. I enjoyed it. Cool game.

Fig was founded by Justin Bailey who used to be Double Fine's financial guy, but Schafer, Cliffy B, Feargus Urqhart and a bunch of other devs kind of put their stamp on it and served as "advisors."

This should be stated every time someone accuses MS of taking games off other platforms. PS4 owners still get the game they were promised. Honorable.
Especially as i read elsewhere that breaking these kind of contracts woul;d only cost Microsoft a tiny fine, like 30k.
They are being very fair honouring these contracts.

Well it's also a bad look and really shitty thing to throw your backers under the bus, because you found a publisher / got bought / got a timed exclusivity for lots of money. So there's that.

Well, I fully expect this title to be playable at E3, and possibly part of Microsoft's showcase at the event. Sure, it's coming out for PS4, but it will have native XBox Series X/S support and will be on Gamepass Day one.

Really hoping we see this finally in 2021. I think we all deserve it after the s***show 2020 was for most folks.
