RAGE 2 |OT| My name is Walker. My world is fire and pink.

Wait there’s community events? Just PC?

No. Xbox and PS4 too.

I think you may need a Bethesda account, so maybe you need to link it to your Xbox/PS4 account?

Here's the schedule so far:

May 17–23: Kill Trials of the Vomit Comet
May 24–30: Kill Shit, Get Paid
May 31–June 6: Bring the Ruckus

I'm glad there was no Andrew WK in this.

I'm also glad I decided to rent it because the copy I ordered from Walmart went to the other side of the country due to a UPS error. Who knows when it will arrive.

For your sake I hope you mean his music, because otherwise boy do I have some bad news for you... :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Just finished the main story and I've gotta say I had an absolute blast with it. Certainly not Game of the Year material for me by any stretch of the imagination, but it definitely left me satisfied. There isn't a whole lot left for me to mop up after I finished the story, so I might put this on the back-burner until the DLC is released, or leave something to chip away at when I need some popcorn for the brain.

You know an open world game has its hooks in you when you look at the clock and do a triple-take

This gameplay is superb

Well, if you weren't drawn to the gunplay and combat abilities, it might just not be for you.

That's really this game's only trick. It's a great trick! But whether that can carry an entire game...

Depends on how much you like checklist open worlds. I find it relaxing, but it's not for everyone.

I noticed that SSAO is kind of broken, at least on my i7-3770k / 1080 rig.

There are some areas (a certain alley in gunbarrel, the space center, ark reactor basements, anywhere dim and enclosed) where it just blacks out the screen because it's so intense. I'm talking "there's a box of lootable shotgun shells one foot from my face and I can't see it" kind of intense.

I've had to turn it off and go back to early 2000s-o-vision, but the affected areas are completely fine without it.

Anybody found a sure fire way to find the cheat codes vender? I can't find him anywhere and I know he moves.

You got the standard edition or deluxe? Anyways you need to locate the wizard called Mangoo. You’ll find him far eastern side of the wilds

Cult of the Death God is a fun mission. Shouldn't have been cut out as a preorder/deluxe edition bonus.

Also, the defibrillator, I feel like I don't totally understand how the mini-game works, or I'm just terrible at it.

I got the standard. I pre ordered the digital edition which I guess didn't come with the cheat codes

I really just want the NBA jam announcer.

I've check the wilds and he's not there when I check but I don't know where his other locations are.

Finished the campaign in 16.5 hours. I found all arks and completed as many bandit locations as I could. Completed as in killed them all, because I can't be arsed to track down all chests.

The first game was better.

I wonder what this one's budget was. It's unpolished, unfocused and it never comes together like Mad Max. The campaign is a trainwreck compared to Rage, and that one had you replay some levels but backwards :messenger_hushed:
The combat is amazing and it has some beautiful locations but the first game is better in every way.

id Software made racing and car combat a lot more fun than Avalanche :messenger_hushed::messenger_hushed::messenger_hushed::messenger_hushed::messenger_hushed:
At least this one has an ending lul

Strange game, I hope the expansions fix it a bit. However, I realised id knew what they were doing with that barebones Rage world. This one's design is flawed. You eject yourself into a tiny enemy camp and kill everything in two minutes. The pacing is wrong. And it's not like Far Cry 2 where you had a lot of different tools so you could approach any shitty outpost the way you liked - everything in Rage 2 is designed to explode many people really fast in close quarters.
The first game's open world was a minor distraction. Every open world activity was a short, dumb and fun minigame. Chase asteroids! Crash through towers! Destroy waves of enemy cars! Mario Kart powerups!
And then you got to a big fucking level that had good pacing and always had a fresh look and new enemies.
In Rage 2 I got to a point where I'd rather not jump out of the car because the 30 seconds of shooting aren't worth running back to the car. It needs big levels and a ton of enemies. I wish I could at least reset the bigger enemy bases.

Well, other than repeatable missions (Bounties/Convoys) I've cleared the map and beat the game.
Pretty sure I got everything available on the map. Scoured the locations that are empty for some "?" marks or new stuff to show up and nothing.

Took about 25 hours to clear the map, and I was hustling.

So, they are just updating the community counter daily? via the message of the day.

Dying Light--off the top of my head--has a much better implementation for this kind of thing.

At any rate, we're at 90%. We are almost there. :messenger_squinting_tongue:

Ended up picking this, even though I originally decided not to, after I returned Saints Row Switch (I was waiting to open it after the patch hit, which I learned barely did anything) and they already had this on sale for 20$ off so I just swapped Saints Row for this.

Definitely very mixed, the pure FPS part of it is great, and just killing shit is very fun and the weapons are great. On the other hand as a open world game it is pretty poor and dated, and the driving is quite awful (flying even worse), that racing mission was one of the most unfun frustrating experiences I've had in a game in quite awhile, which is quite ironic giving how solid it was in the original. At least the basic bitch side content plays to the gameplays strength as nearly all of it so far seems to be just mindless killing shit in a handful of location types with a handful of objective types (always happy when I find one that's a full mini level with a boss at the end), though that doesn't make up for how little main story mission there are (I assume as it seems I'm already close to the end, and not even did 10 main story mission yet, trophies seem to imply there is only around 8).

On consoles the menus seem to be a be quite laggy and a bit glitchy, which sucks.

Anyway, I don't regret buying it as just killing shit is fun, it's one of those games that I like to call "the best bad game." Definitely like the first more thanks to it's superior driving and the more hub world, with linear levels, design, but this ones superior FPS gameplay helps save it.

Cult of the Death God is a fun mission. Shouldn't have been cut out as a preorder/deluxe edition bonus.

Also, the defibrillator, I feel like I don't totally understand how the mini-game works, or I'm just terrible at it.
Especially given this game seems to be lacking a bit in content for a open world game with a short main story, it needed all the content it could get, not less to be DLC. More full level type missions, the better. I want more shit and bosses to kill.

So when the circles that close in get INTO the corresponding key's circle is when you hit it.

Go for the arks first, the campaign is like 3 hours long lmao. In hindsight I wouldn't even complete any enemy camps until I got all the ark weapons and powers!

I am very bummed that after the campaign you don't get a new game+ or at least a reset of enemy locations á la far cry.
To me, it almost feels like the abrupt ending of Rage 1. :messenger_beaming: Even though the last mission was a blast.

hopefully they will add "reset of enemy locations " in a patch

Hopefully, the DLC adds a new game+ or some carrot.

I basically got the DLC "free" through GMG, but I wonder if I will still be interested by then. I do that a lot it seems.

So when the circles that close in get INTO the corresponding key's circle is when you hit it.

Thanks. Take a look at it tonight.

The shotgun in this game... is it me or is it unabashedly op?

Upgraded with the range extension mod it basically becomes click-to-headshot, even at moderate distance. It's so good. I'd almost rank it so high as to say it competes with the shotgun/super shotgun in Brutal Doom for the position of personal fav.

I hope they make the shotgun in Doom Eternal more satisfying to use; more like this. Doom16's was disappointing.

Yeah, one of the best shotguns ever.

So anyone having getting those last few drones as well? I’ve got to 26 but the last few... I just seem to be going in circles.

Also I know for sure I have killed a lot of people but the 1337 kills trophy hasnt popped up. Not sure if it’s bandit enemy type or all enemy types.

Really enjoying this game. Yes, it's one of those open world games where you just go around completing different versions of the same types of missions, but the gunplay is so smooth and satisfying that it's fun to just go around kicking ass and clearing out hostile bases. And I like that everything only takes about 5-10 minutes to complete, which makes for smooth pacing. You never get that "Uggghh another one of these I have to spend time and go through" feeling that I would get when coming across one of the 200 dungeons in Elder Scrolls that take 45 minutes each.

Also, one of the common complaints is that the world feels empty, but there's constantly different factions fighting each other all of the map with explosions and gunshots often heard and seen in the distance. Makes you feel like you're in world of anarchy as the game advertises. Not to mention there's good variety in the game world from deserts to swamps to canyons, etc.

So yeah, the game provides a simple but effective formula, which is refreshing among the usual overly dense and drawn-out open world games. My only complaint (besides the bugs) is the significant effort to make everyone in the game ugly. Doesn't fit with the overall fun vibe of the world and comes off very forced.

Huge patch came out yesterday. You can now replay bandit camps. Open the map, select a camp to replay and you'll fast travel just outside of it. You even get a minor reward for completion.
New game + will be added in the future but so far this is a great fix. The only thing pausing the action is loading a new location, and that only takes a couple of seconds.

Downloading it right now. I guess it also prepares us for the DLC

I haven't. Finished the game and haven't touched it since. Should probably remedy that, it's a fun game. Bought Ace Combat 7, though, so it's next on my list.

They should have launched the game during QuakeCon with these fixes included. The reception would have been much better.

The first expansion is now sent to die in September...

Rage-2-DLC_09-09-19_001.jpg

An old threat has returned to haunt the wasteland once again in RAGE 2’s first major expansion. Explore a brand-new region, face a lethal new faction, and gain access to a new weapon and ability in Rise of the Ghosts. Get more details on Rise of the Ghosts and how you can get in on the action below.

Rage-2-DLC_09-09-19_002.jpg

Walker Ain’t Afraid of No Ghosts

The Ghosts were once a terror in the wasteland. Ruthless, vicious, tactical and cruel, they took what they wanted and left no survivors. Following the Authority Wars, they were nowhere to be found. At the time, many people assumed they had simply been wiped out and they began to fade into wasteland legend. In reality, they had found a higher calling; a strange woman named Iris promised them power and glory if they did everything she said. Iris and the Ghosts fled to the Overgrown City, where for years they underwent intensive brainwashing and were subjected to experiments that left them with powerful and mysterious nanotrite abilities.

Rage-2-DLC_09-09-19_003.jpg

Now they’re ready to reclaim their place in the wasteland. Under the watchful eyes of Iris, the Ghosts will prove to be a formidable new foe for Ranger Walker. He’ll need to navigate a huge new region called the Overgrown City and put a stop to their uprising before the Ghosts can gain a foothold in the wasteland. Luckily, he’ll have the new Void ability and the Feltrite Laser Launcher to add to his already-impressive arsenal. Rise of the Ghosts also introduces the new Ghost Motorcycle to the game, which players will be able to find in the Overgrown City and bring back to their Garage.

When, Where, and How?

Rise of the Ghosts will launch on all platforms on September 19 (Editor’s Note: This release date seems to be an error on Bethesda’s part). Download it from the in-game store for 1,500 RAGE Coins ($15). You need to be online and signed into your BNET account to access the in-game store.
