Rainbow Six Vegas 2 |OT| of no auto shotguns

Not Wario
I checked the OP and it says only 2 players offline. Now, is that on one console? (Reason I ask is that a few friends and I were thinking of renting two copies to system link and play 4 players- is this not possible?) Sorry if this has been asked before; I only read through the OP.

The multiplayer maps are made for ultimate close quarter destruction. Good lord inQCB Training the teams might as well spawn in the same room, and i love it!

Why can't you snake cam doors in terrorist hunt?!?! WHY? :(
Yeah, I'm surprised that they still haven't fixed that. Would make for some really awesome multiplayer situations.

. Graphically i could see that they did enhance the graphics in r62, a bit like they did for ghost recon 2, .

sorry dude but no,the graphics on single player are worse than the first vegas

I'm not even talking about multiplayer (online versus), you can't even snake cam doors in single player terrorist hunts. It's a bit crippling. :(

The terrorists don't spawn in the room until you enter it (obviously not in every case, but enough), so snake-camming is rendered useless.

Maybe because, like in Vegas1, terrorists spawn from devils asshole? You already could notice it when you moved swift enough, snake cam would only make it so much more obvious.

Spawns ruined most of the fun in TH for me on Vegas1.

I disagree. It's had minor improvements all around.. I still shudder remembering the car models in the first one.

The conclusion I would draw is that using the tactical mirror as a reason why you can see everything while in cover is a poor explanation.
I think you're right. The reason you can see everything while in cover is the designers thought that it would be a fun mechanic. Most of the design choices tend towards realism, and this is a break from that. I really dig the cover mechanic. I dig it in Gears too, fwiw. I also enjoy the way COD4 handles cover too.

I think some R6 detractors are saying it sucks because the 3rd person cover isn't realistic, and COD4 1st person cover is. It's a flawed argument because unrealistic does not equate to sucking. In almost every other point of comparison between game design in R6 and COD, R6 is more realistic. That doesn't mean that 100 yard frag throws, long sprint time, and perks aren't awesome. They're just as "cheap" as being able to see around a wall you're hiding behind. They also make the game interesting give it depth.

Only got to play 2 hours because I had to leave for the weekend. I loved what I played.

OP has been updated with more gamertags/psn names

I miss Calypso Casino, it was my favorite terro hunt map in Vegas 1. =(

The new Vegas 2 maps seem much more open-ended, with so many more angles that the terros come from, which results in many times where I don't even know where I was shot from. And the tangos are still quick-draw shotty snipers. :lol

I want Calypso, LVU Campus and Library.

Make note Ubisoft, fix the online and I will take up the ass on DLC maps.

you obviously must be playing it on a sd tv then if you haven't noticed.....

well im a graphic artist,im playing the game on 42 inch lcd bravia and i have spend circa 200 hours on the first vegas.so the sdtvd argument is going nowhere

they have done this, upgrade the mp graphics and models and ported to the single player experience, less detailed levels, worse and repetitive textures, etcc etc they have touched the lighting a little bit to make some things different but not better

That's why it annoyed me we got shafted on maps (not that we can actually play them on the ps3 :lol)

All the reload animation from the guns in the first game is the same, the M4 uses a stock reload animation when you're in cover too.

I read in this interview that there would be split screen online play (guest support). I rented the game today and find no indication of this being available. Don't see it for system link play either.... I assume it's not actually in the game? :(

Yeah, I just want to say, R6V doesn't bug me. What really bugs me is the comparisons to COD, how one is more 'tactical' or how 'COD needs a cover system'. I can't understand how one can look at COD and R6V and say that COD cover system 'doesn't exist'. The only difference is that you can't see around walls in COD.

I'm actually looking forward to the Killzone 2 cover system.

Yeah I've played 300+ hours of CoD4 and there's no cover system in that game. Thing is - there never was one and IW didn't implement one. Shut up about CoD4 already. CoD4 is the better reviewed, better selling game but Vegas 2 is fun too if you want a slower-paced feel.

HOWEVER, the coop single-player in Vegas 2 is a fucking disgrace. The graphics are significantly worse and the frame-rate is downright atrocious. The game is basically unplayable on the final level.

First let me say that I am enjoying the singleplayer in Vegas2. What I am not enjoying however is the worthless shit A.I. teammates. Things I have witnessed.

1 A.I. teammates standing out in the open oblivious to enemies right in front of them.
2 A.I. teammates refusing to climb a ladder when given the instruction.
3 A.I. teammates running into a room full of enemies without the instruction to breach being given, thus getting themselves killed and failing the mission.

Edit - Need to add a new one. My A.I. teammates have just gotten stuck in a corner in a parking garage. Their stuck walking circles in a 5 foot area around a bunch of vehicles.

Just beat it online co-op with a friend. TBH I liked Army of Two a lot better. The ending was about as predictable and corny as any ending. Even cornier than Army of Two.

I'm sure you'll be shocked to learn people don't respond well to being told to shut up.

I am not trying to convince anyone to not buy Vegas. I am not butthurt that people want to play Vegas over the "better reviewed, better selling game of COD4." Some people made comparisons and statements to and about COD4 that I think are silly/don't understand. I didn't bring it up, but I wanted to discuss it since I thought they were wrong. Perhaps you can explain, why do you see such a big difference between Vegas cover system, and COD4 crouching behind a car?

fatalt did. boy did he.

you people know that you can buy cod4 and vegas2. like, both of them. you don't have to choose sides. In fact, if you buy a second 360 you can actually play them both at once although I imagine you'd not fare too well and the lag would be bad.

no cover in cod4 was shity and i wish it had but it didn't break the game or anything. cs didn't have cover either.

Sure did and it mad me sad...If they would bring garage, carnival and I think it was meat factory then there would be no need to ever stop playing this version of rainbow.

Because there is no cover system in CoD. Crouch behind a car in CoD4 and you'll die in a split-second from a noobtube. Most of the walls in the game can be shot through and that's without even having Deep Impact on. In CoD you're never safe, especially with enemies spawning literally beside you sometimes.

Vegas 2 you can actually take cover and it is effective. Like Che said, a nade is like a shot-put so no real threat there either.

So, got it today and been playing it all day...

RSV2 >>>>

CoD4
Halo
Resistance
Crysis
Far Cry
Gears
etc etc.

I just loooove how things are done in this franchise.

It's slow and tactical, not jumpy and spammy like most console FPS.

They have the best gun models in any game. They recoil hard, they're loud, they feel powerful, the way guns should feel.

The game is all about two things: Your aim and your tactical decisions. The fluff that's present in most FPS is stripped away for your killing pleasure. They should call it Killing Dudes: The Game.

Your teammate AI may suck, but the enemy AI is lethal. Realistic mode is a beast.

Terrorist Hunt mode is hot sex. Goddamn HARD, but fun.

The new points/skill meter is a nice game-within-the-game. I don't really focus too much on it, but hey, why not? Keep more stats. Fine with me.

Sooo many weapons.

I was playing this for a few hours tonight and I got a bunch of invites from friends to play CoD4. I got bored within an hour and split so I could play more Vegas. Don't get me wrong, CoD4 is a real nice game, but RSV2 is just more my style. Slow and strategic. Mmmmmm good!

I loved the early rbs games, then it sbeen hit and miss, just picked this up today to play over the weekend after seeing a tonne of friends playing and wanting it after it was sold out in one shop I was in.

Bash me a inv if Im online later

I played this for 5 hours straight last night with some friends. We started with 4-player Terrorist Hunt. Did every map on "normal" with "medium" enemy density. Gotta say, that was AWESOME. The enemies are so active, its crazy. I love how they are constantly moving from cover to cover. Its like playing paintball or something. They're definitely not fish in a barrel. Very smart too. I can't count how many times I had flashbangs and grenades thrown at me.

After that, we rounded up a full room for Total Conquest. Lots of fun. I have to say the maps in this game are the best maps since Rainbow Six 3.

I'm loving this game. And to think, I almost didn't get it. I don't know what the hell I was thinking.
