Ratchet and Clank PS4 Reboot Delayed To 2016, Out Spring 2016

I still am not understanding what you are trying to get at by using the word preview. Also, trespassing the line? Sorry.

All Sony has said about a possible release date for R&C was 2015 and we haven't even seen a formal reveal of the game yet. I am not sure this is something that would be betraying their fanbase. The larger issue of not many first party games in the fall/winter, sure.

Sorry, it may have been a bad translation from my oficial language. Maybe "foresee" or "previse" is better worded? I'm not sure if I can make myself clearer.

And if Sony stated it was a 2015 release, then they should be prepared to release it in 2015. Specially after DriveClub and The Order issues.

I have to ask, but does Shuhei, as President of WWS, plan anything in terms of 1st party releases?

This is the 2nd Holiday in a row now that's looking beyond weak, with Holiday 15 now looking even deader than Holiday 14.

I honestly feel he is doing a piss poor job as President.

What a joke.

Do you only buy 1st releases? During the reign of Shu, he secured console exclusivity with the biggest fighting game on the planet (speaking in terms of branding, as for players, that goes to Tekken worldwide).

Edit: There are still a bunch of AAA games coming out like Until Dawn. There's a long list of console exclusive titles, and Sony exclusive titles also (which they are finally putting in work on the PS4 side instead of just straight porting, like that Godzilla game). A wide variety is still arriving this year in either AAA, indie, exclusive, multiplat, console exclusive, or Sony exclusive format.

So Cerny lied to us. Timed to triangle...arrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh

But on serious note. I completely forgot this was coming out - lol

As someone who adores this series, and has not yet bought a PS4, I'm okay with this. I want the game to be the best it can be, if it takes a little more time so be it.

Unfortunately this is not surprising considering the movie got delayed and both will be out at the same time for commercial reasons.
Still we'll see the game at E3 and with the extra months of development it will be more polished.

The funny thing is, is that there is more to selling a console than just holiday games these days. This is abundantly clear by the sales figures for the PS4.

The management of SCE, in particular Andy House, are doing an excellent job.

Adam Boyes is doing a great job in 3rd party productions, marketing deals etc.

Marketing department doing excellent job.

Shuhei is the President of Sony Worldwide Studios, and there are no* internally developed Sony games from their flagship studios releasing this year.

How is that not mismanagement, and general incompetance with his role as President?

*There may be unannounced title/s (I hope to God there is), but if E3 passes and nothing announced for Holiday 15, then Shuhei is really doing a terrible job.

I understand your frustration. Let's hope Shuhei can redeem himself at E3.

Except that everyone expected Street Fighter V to be released for PS4 down the line anyway. Making it console exclusive doesnt make it more special (at the contrary, many SF fans are pissed with it). Also, not eveyone likes fighting games.

Shu played no part in that. His responsibility is to manage SCEWWS.

Again...rushing a game to get it out at a specific time is so much worse than a delay. Hell, look at your avatar and think about Halo:MCC, Battlefield 4 and Driveclub (as you already mentioned).

That shit is so much worse than delaying the game.

It is but that doesn't mean the games will develop faster

Easy to develop for is such a small thing during game development. You have time crunches, bad bugs, wanting to add more content, avoiding the same release date as heavy hitters, not enough advertising room to fit the games in and get them the proper amount of attention (poor, poor Tearaway), etc.

Agreed.
Ease of development does not make it easy to make a game up to snuff.

I suppose I misunderstood what Mark Cerny meant by PS4's "time to triangle" comment.

From that endgadget article, I initially assumed he was talking about shortened developer cycles due to the PS4 architecture, but it seems he was alluding to how long it takes to create the base/foundation of the game, not the entire game itself.

This is the article I'm reading right now:

I am so hyped for this, I thought it was just a movie game didn't realize it was a reimagining of the original, way more excited now. I can't wait to see how it looks, with all the bolts flying around should be amazing using the PS4s Ram. Wonder if weapons will be upgradeable ala going commando.

I won't deny MCC was a joke of a release. But that doesnt mean that delays are good anyway! Take a look at The Order and DriveClub, they were both delayed and when released were a joke in terms of content (actually DC even had serious connection issues)! DriveClub is fine now, but they needed some patches to put it in the right track!

Bad schedule is not a good thing! Delay a game to fix it, is not a good thing either, its just better then release it broken but still means that something bad happened in the development! You know what is good and right? To announce the release date when they're prepared, to follow it as planned, and to release a solid game at the planned release date. That's it!

"2015 is going to be an amazing year for gaming" they said
"2014 sucked but 2015 is going to be incredible to make up for it" they said
"We will get Uncharted 4 and Zelda WiiU and The Division and a new Ratchet and Clank and Quantum Break" they said

I'd rather have delayed games that are actually done, than stuff rushed out too early.

Just because everyone expected a PS4 version doesn't make it any less special.

I know SF fans aren't happy with it. That's too bad. It's happening, but at least the PC version is still a thing.

And not everyone likes fighting games? Not everyone likes platforming titles with scant amounts of fighting like Rime. Not everyone likes campy b-movie games like Until Dawn. Not everyone enjoys grinding in D5. You are moving the goal post.

Shu played no part in that. His responsibility is to manage SCEWWS.

Wouldn't that include the deal anyway? Maybe not.

Bloodbourne, Yakuza 5 and 0, Xenoblade, GGrd, MK9, The Witcher 3, Jojo Whatever That Title Is, DMC4:SE, Resident Evil Rev 2, MGSV, Rime, Until Dawn, D5...

I'm not even done listing games and I'm pretty damn content, but I get why people who only wanted those titles might be upset.

You know the reason, you opened up a thread about him if you remember.

Orichi's perfect version of Shu:

Mark Cerny isn't one to talk since Knack had awful performance issues

This could be something really special and I hope to have a PS4 by then so I'm fine with this. Do your thing, Insomniac.

We'll do our thing and then some!

1. Who are you

2. If you are currently working on something for the love of god be good

3. If it is a resistance remaster of any sort I am going to jump out of my first story window, I wont get hurt I am just letting you know I'll do it.

And the movie is 2016 as well? Weren't they going to debut it at Cannes this year? Well this is disappointing, I was really looking forward to both. I wonder if the Sly movie will get pushed to 2017 then.

Bad examples since the Order wasn't going to be any better no matter what time it released at. And Driveclub needed proper beta testing. LBP3 is a good example because it needed more time to cook.

Well said.

If anything, someone should be holding a belt keeping Shu on track.

WWS output is his responsibility, and the delays of high profile titles aren't doing him any favours.

I bet you'd say the same if the games came out and were a glitchy fest.

Someone post that Miyamoto quote.

Well Tearaway Unfolded is developed by Media Molecule and it comes out this summer.

I'm just going by what was in the Insomniac museum. I was scarred for life when I figured out hoverboot races were cut because of time constraints.

Also the procedurally generated arena challenges which sounded very interesting.

Both of those got cut more because they weren't fun then because we didn't have time. The procedurally generated stuff wasn't as interesting as it would have needed to be, and in order to make the hoverboots fun for the kind of racing we wanted would have made them completely not fun for just using in the normal world.

What do devs delaying the games have to do with Shu?

Nothing.

What does it have to do to him? - he's only the President of Sony's Internal Studios network and greenlights / oversees development on all 1st party games.

If he can't manage the studios correctly and stick to schedules, because, you know delays cost substantial amounts of money, then somebody who is actually capable of operating efficiently, and productively should take his place.

Because, in my opinion, he is doing a horrific job so far, with the amount of delays, projects cancelled, and millions just flushed down the toilet.

The highest rated game exclusive to PS4 is Bloodborne, and it's developed by From Software in partnership with Sony Japan studio.

Every sole exclusive released so far has averaged middling scores with the exception of Infamous: Second Son.

That is just not acceptable - I wish Verendus would come in and give some perspective, because at the moment, the release schedule for Holiday 15 is bleak in terms of 1st party content.

I agree.

I REALLY hope we have some surprise announcements. Sony's worldwide studios have been one of my FAVORITE things about PlayStation, and they are an utter no-show this year. How is that even possible?! I mean, Tearaway is coming to PS4, but that's just a reworking of an existing game. The new game from them won't come out this year.

I feel like Shu, who I have always respected and still do respect, has done a miserable job with worldwide studios thus far this gen.

I know this doesn't directly correspond to my complaint since Insomniac is 2nd party, but it just reminded me of it. And we still have no idea what exclusive games are coming to PS4 from now until the end of the year.

Allowing GT6 to be developed for the PS3 has the be one of the larger managerial fuck ups. Forza will have seen two, if not three, iterations on the xbox one before Gran Turismo sees a single release on PS4.

Just my own dumb little thought here - Sony's doubling down on cinematic gaming has hurt their output.

To be fair. Having a large output last gen hurt themselves because they couldn't market everything. The probably slowed down to be more cautious and market everything carefully.

Oh welp

How bout those 4 or so weapons that were cut

TLoU, Puppeteer, GT6, and Beyond Two Souls, four big AAA releases, came out on the same year that the PS4 released. I just don't understand what in the world Sony/Shu was thinking. Worldwide Studios have been either a no-show or released middling games on the system thus far, yet four well-received games came out on PS3 in the first year of the PS4.

The only one I know of was a revision on the predator launcher that wasn't working at all. It was hard to use, difficult to see what was going on and not much fun. I don't remember when that one got cut (it might have been because of time) but I don't think anyone was sad to see it go.

There were a handful of gadgets (2 I think) that got cut super-early.

I'm not saying there are no good games this year. But for me it has quickly turned into a "good" year instead of an amazing year.

And I still fear Rime and Persona 5 will also get pished back.

PS: Also, as far as I know Yakuza 0 hasn't been announced for the west.

I never thought I would say this but good, I am working on over 10 PS4 games right now. I need a summer outside and clearing up my backlog.

Dang that's disappointing, it was going to be the perfect change of pace from Bloodborne.

The other thing that excited me was that it has been kept so secret up until this point, I was hoping for a short time between reveal and release.
