Sony once "won" E3 with a Kickstarter, a game that's still not out yet, and a game that ended up being completely forgotten by most people I never understood the hype for most Sony conferences because that gen was all hype for games that were years away, or a bunch of multiplatform games that Sony just had marketing for. Uncharted 4's trailer was the only moment where I thought Sony's conference was anything special. That was the gen that made me realize that video game "journalists" opinions on games are completely different than mine and it's not worth caring about them, because they just hype up mediocre games
Shenmue III, FFVII: Remake and The Last Guardian all came out.

You couldnt pay me to play a single game from that show. Not one.
Just sad this this where the industry is now. A 2 hour show crammed with games - but zero creativity - its all very generic looking.
Nothing stands out - nothing looks...quality.

Its either a souls ripoff, mmo, or some kinda all-in-one roblox. For the souls ripoffs - ide rather just replay one of From Software's games.
Just look at that hyper generic steam game Marauders. What even is that nonsense?

I say it in many of these modern conferences - but how do these games even find an audience? Who is playing this crap - who are these games even for?

Bargain bin and subscription gaming fodder i guess. People gotta have something new to buy these holidays

Zero RPGs except Wyrdsong which is like 2035 release judging by size of its current team

Worthless fucking show. So much cartoony nonsense everywhere. Still, there were few games I might be potentially interested in, but none that would scream "day 1 buy".

1/10, a gigantic waste of time and I was doing something else half of the time.

What was shown as gameplay looked really rough (lies of P, Callisto), the rest was just CGI. Tons of shooters. Wyrdsong could be good but remains a big question mark.

Kojima segment was just embarrassing, a bit less than Druckmann last show but still high level.

Only saving grace is the AOE4 DLC looking decent.

Yeah - all those highly reviewed games that sell millions. What bastards. All of those gameplay trailers and demos. Utter pricks. All those games that actually come out. Swines.
The first does not make them good games. It just makes them a specific kind of games that review higher than other game genres.
The second is bad, as 13m gameplay trailer do not belong in game shows, but on Youtube. One or two is fine, if your whole show is just that, it's a bad show.
The third is just wrong, as Sony has as many delays or games that get cancelled as any other publisher on their shows.

My point still stands. Sony shows get rated 10/10 from fanboys, while being a real 5/10 or 7/10, if someone is into those games, while the same people rate other shows 1/10

Why the fuck people watch the whole thing instead of waiting for the 4k trailers like 10 min later?? Of course you are gonna score a 1 for something hosted by that cringy dorito twat, you asked for a bad experience....

The best game demos last gen had a trailer and a gameplay demo with it. People always scream for gameplay, and with Days Gone, God of War, and Horizon they did that to name a few.

If you are telling me that Horizon, God of War, Spider-Man, Day's Gone, Ratchet et aren't great games then you need to take your fanboy goggles off. They review well and people buy them in millions and they are well-liked.
Sony always have a strong mix of gameplay and simple trailers in their shows, and when they choose to highlight an indie game it is almost always an incredible choice as it is usually a fantastic game.

It makes me laugh that people don't think Sony knows what they are doing. They are the big dog and Microsoft went up against them and had to bounce to a new business model as by their own words they couldn't compete. Now Sony are expanding beyond their traditional remit and they'll eat into other companies slice of the cake in subs, PC and mobile. They are doing this all while releasing incredible games that appeal to their traditional core.

Quite possibly the worst event I've ever witnessed in my entire life. Sony E3 2006 was better than this.
I agree was nothing but shit games from medicore publishers, though telltales game was the stand out for me, dead island being shown at gamescom and not e3 pretty much confirms the game is going to exactly like the first with nothing new added to it

4/10 but I have extremely low standards for game conferences nowadays, it's a 1/10 on 00's standards but let's face it these days aren't coming back for AAA development. The only games that seemed interesting to me were Lies of P and High on Life.

Gave it a 6. Had some decent announcements and showings, such as Lords of the fallen, Atlas Fallen and Lies of P. Didn't watch the show though, only the released trailers. If I watched the entire show I would've probably rated it a 1 or 2.

I would call it the Attack of the clones, 90% of the games were the same FPS game with a different coat of paint, this industry needs to collapse and start anew.

Dewritto pope didn't disappoint, my baseline for him is disappointment, it only goes up if I'm really impressed. This hype whore needs to stop dishing out his snake oil hype.

What a weak showing - Gamescom felt like it was tailored to casuals rather than actual gamers. Nothing in this conference was exciting.

Some solid games shown, lot of cool looking new stuff, I was impressed. It probably helped that I watched it after so I didn't have to suffer through all the bullshit. Helps when you can fastforward through the bullshit which I admittedly did for like 70% of it. There were probably 5-6 titles that had me very interested. I'd say that's a win... unlike the nintendo directs which make me pissed off that I even bought a switch.

At this point i rate shows by how much they make Gaf rage rather than how good of an actual show they are because I never watch them (and nothing can please you guys from the looks of it anyways)
Overall, this is some of the most vitriol and hate I have seen from gaf since Kretos committed account seppuku. 10/10
