damn nah man I've said the same shit and I am totally disinterested in redditt; devo's stance on the site doesn't necessitate a feeling of superiority
have you considered that you might be in attack mode when you should be in a different mode. perhaps friendly mode
Why do people feel morally superior and smug in mentioning they nev go to reddit? It's a news aggregation site basically, beutmyou'd think it's a combo of stormfront and a my little brony fan site to hear people try to here people try to be the first to disavow ever having been there.
I feel like one of the few people who doesn't even bother with Reddit.
Nope. I'm saying I see reddit discussed a lot on other forums so it feels like a lot of people use it. Apparently I was wrong, quite a few folks here don't. What's with the hostility.

fucking this.
I never go to reddit, but it gets irritating to see all these people seemingly have some kind of epileptic fit at the mere utterance of the place. But not before telling everyone in the thread how little they care about reddit.
What did they do exactly?
The problem is it hurts the users along with hurting the offending site.Never been to reddit. If the domains that were banned are guilty of spamming and being a little underhanded, the temporary bans fit the crime.
If Reddit is the filter for the internet, GAF is the filter of Reddit and in turn makes it the best filter of the internet.
It's the equivalent of saying "Who?"
Okay, you're right - you were actually being passive aggressive. You made an assumption about someone else's attitude, took offense, made an observation paired with a "lol," and ultimately came across as a whiner.
Quit being fucking sour. Maybe I'm a bit on edge because everybody's been attacking Devolution and it's getting old (no defense force, this schtick is just getting old like the attacks on Gaborn's thread titles did).
The only time I see reddit discussed here, is when people talk about how shitty it is or how people don't use it.
So...Reddit is basically an unreadable version of Digg?

I use Reddit to see new hardware deals or steam sales. It works well for that kind of thing
What is wrong with Think Progress?Go take a look at /r/politics/
The very first article is the same article that Opiate had to lock over here. Ban certain sites but let sites like Think Progress continue unabated? I really wonder what the motivation was on their end.
Of course. Just pointing out that it isn't a perfect solution.Wouldn't be really effective if the offending sites weren't affected.
I think it's time for a hipster gaffer meme pic - reddit style. That would be meta as hell.
I feel like one of the few people who doesn't even bother with Reddit.
That's because most NeoGAF topics are spin-offs of Reddit threads. Believe
None of those sites I visit, so whatever with the ban.
Reddit would break if they banned imgur and other meme/shit-stain sites however, since that's about all reddit is: le rage faces XD!
did you read your own OP? It says they were banned for hiring spammers to promote content on reddit. Whether their apparently new policy is good or bad, it has nothing to do with the content or legitimacy of the banned sites.
on that note, did anyone in this thread read it?

I'm on reddit all the time just as equal with GAF. The websites banned, I could give two fucks and appreciate the mods trying to clean up the place.
It's about as asinine as posters who click a clearly marked WSHH link and then have a mental breakdown crying for the place to be banned and then a youtube link of said video so they don't give that awful site hits.
And the equivalent of posting that who gives a shit macro, who cares, so? Isn't that bannable?
What's wrong with the actual policy? Reddit alleges that these sites were unfairly gaming the system. I mean, the premise of reddit is that the community decides what is "seen" or at least what becomes popular. If spammers are gaming the system for personal gain that needs to be addressed. I would love to hear how gaffers would address this issue.
The only problem I see with their approach is that people could use this policy unfairly against . For example, maybe some group doesn't like a site -- whether it be a competitor, trolls, or those with an axe to grind -- couldn't they get a site banned through submitting links to that site and upvoting them using shill accounts, as is currently being done by spammers for companies that pay them?
Just for copying/stealing thread ideas.Damn, what's with the reddit hate? Thought gaf loved that place?

And I thought I was the only person to see the thread shitting going on here. Thank you!Yeah it's kind of funny that the first 8 or so responses would get banned if they had said the same thing they did but in a slightly memish or banned way. I carry no water for reddit, but geez, talk about thread shitting in the first ten replies or so and on and on.....
Does this mean that Reddit will finally go the way of Digg?
Because jesus, I hate that place.
