Woah, I just fell into the water on Paradiso and survived - I was literally underwater just standing there without dieing. Ill upload the video to my fileshare if someone is interested in seeing what happened. I think I landed on a rock which is just high enough that I can be submerged without dieing.

Again, this is what my point has been. Lamonster's gripes with things like Halsey behind glass during a cutscene and Spartans having different accents area bout as irrelevant to the story as seeing the skeleton of a Krait dragon on Tattoine during A New Hope or asking "Why is Darth Vader all mechanical, nobody explained it omg bad story".

The character interaction in the SW prequels, especially between Anakin and Padme was pretty subpar, but I still love those movies because of
a) the settings and the anal retentive way that the film makers attempt to give each environment a purpose, as if it's a real place. This alone immerses me into a story far more effectively than some character droning on about his feelings so we can "care about him".
b)the social commentary. You take away the sci-fi setting, and the prequels areso close to actual history that it's almost disturbing. One man manipulating entire bodies of government? check. Meaningless wars engineered to accomplish sinister means? check. Men and women who are held on a pedestool as heros when in fact their organization is so corrupt and arrogant that they are littlemore than puppets being controlled by shadowy behind the scenes tricksters? check.

There's more, but my point should be clear. I can get all of this information without in depth character reviews.
I'm sorry. If you think the prequels were an example of good storytelling, I am truly sorry for your loss.

The twists and turns in the prequels don't make sense, aren't logical, and completely alienate some of the core ideas founded in the original trilogy. The characters that were supposed to drive a story forward lacked true depth outside of their attire and armament of choice. Social commentary on what? Hitler with lasers? A porno movie can do the same thing and you would say the same thing? That you were interested in the story and it's commentary on history?

Indeed. I mean, you make your lists for remakes, and majority of them are Halo 3? That's saying something, and that's you (the list-creators) mostly played Halo 3 and little or none of Halo 2. The glory days of Halo MP shined on 2.

Agree 100% with the bolded. Hemorrhage SWAT, snipers and invasion sucks. A lot.
Guessing you never played AR starts on Valhalla, and just be happy there was never SWAT on Valhalla. Either way, it's the gametype that's at fault, not the map. There'll be less rage for some here once the Scorpion is taken out.

BTB is a joke in Reach. It's nothing like the BTB in H3. I loved the sandtrap variants in BTB where there was only one vehicle and everyone was using their BR. I want a lot of people on a mediumish/biggish map using only the DMR. Unfortunately, the assist system sucks giant dong.

Also, I'd love to see a Valhalla remake. I actually loved that map. Sure you could control the hill and dominate the game but with AA's, you can change that. Say like, you can use camo to sneak up and get a couple of kills.

Overall, the "experience" in Reach, especially MM, has been 'meh'. Sure there is more variety and that is good but the game mechanics leave a bad taste in my mouth.

If I could, I'd take a giant dump on the guy that invented the melee and assist system for Reach to let him know how much it sucks.

I did. And it was more enjoyable - the flow and smaller nature of Valhalla allowed for more interesting battles where you could take cover in your own base waiting for backup to spawn as the enemy waited just outside in the caves.

Hemorrhage doesn't allow for many battles to take place inside of or near the bases, and it becomes a battle in the teleport locations, which are mostly won by whoever's teleport is closest to the battle, leading to drab and monotonous encounters. Just an opinion.

The best part about BTB sandtrap was playing with a friend and driving both elephants into the middle of the map to create a giant clusterfuck.

I hate to go against my biggest supporter by allying myself with the enemy, but he's right. I said a story doesn't have to emphasize characters, but that doesn't mean it can completely drop the ball on them. If characters are flat or cliche'd, the good stories have a reason for them being flat and cliche'd, like Alan Wake's story does. Some stories explicitely need bad characters to function, but that sure as hell is not Star Wars. And don't even get me started on the plot. That said, I don't agree with Major Williams' that a story's social commentary is immaterial to the story, it can add value, but good stories have all their bases covered in some way or another.

Now your just putting words in my mouth (on my keyboard?). I never said this, and you clearly are having trouble understanding the point I was attempting to illustrate :(

I said I enjoyed them even with the lack of good characters and gave reasons why.

There's also the frequent annoyance when the enemy team blocks your teleporter with vehicles, then there are the cases when you're sniped from all the way across the map when you exit the teleporter, or try to cross the middle.

Bah. Hemorrhage design is archaic. It's so...backwards.

I don't think Firefight needs too many new maps unless they go for a very different flavor than the initial eight, which hit pretty much all the bases. Since it's only a mode for four players, there's not the need for as wide a range in sizes that the MP side demands, what with 4v4, BTB, Invasion, Race, etc. I'm sure there will be new FF maps, so I hope they try something weird and/or different than the core set. But the initial DLC emphasis is probably going to be on filling in the holes in the shipping map set for the MP side, which is fine with me. I'd request a big vehicle map for Firefight, but I think Lost Platoon on ODST showed why that could get old fast. It was a good call to scale the vehicle maps down to be a bit more intimate in Reach.

How have you people got the time and energy to get all the way to Lt Colonel so soon? It's actually insane how you can reach that rank so fast, I'm still in the grotty dungeons of Warrant Officer Grade 3.

Both teleporters are covered from standard snipe spots on Sanguine! Give it a whirl! It's in my file share!

Once you get past Warrant Grade 3 it's quite easy. Especially if you're getting close to 1000 credits a game.

No, Hemorrhage is just outdated map design. The Scorpion wouldn't be an issue if the map had shorter sight-lines and more varied terrain. You could put a tank in Valhalla, even without the laser to act as a counter-balance, and it wouldn't dominate the map like it does in Hemo. Same for the Wraith. And that's not even bringing the sniper rifle into the equation. Infantry simply has more cover, and more routes through the map in Valhalla than Hemo.

I played Halo 2 from its release until the launch of the 360. I'm familiar with the game and it's maps. The multiplayer in Halo 2 was nowhere near as good as it was in Halo 3. You think starting with an AR was bad, but starting with an SMG was better? Dual-wielding upset the shoot/grenade/melee trifecta, and turned almost every match into a spray-and-pray war. Bungie had to incorporate BR starts just to try and undo that, but then there was the noob combo.

That said, Halo 2 has bar none the best collection of maps of any Halo game. Especially BTB maps. Halo 3 is a close second (especially when you factor in DLC), and then Halo: CE. Reach is a long way behind.

Metalic Sand

who is Emo-Beas?
Was waiting for the spartans to take the 2nd point on spire because of how bad my team was and the banshee took 1-2 minutes to spawn

This is by far the buggiest bungie release ive ever played.

We're likely not going to see eye to eye on this, we have two very different points of view and all our clever analogies are getting in the way of all the map talk/ swat complaining. Best to just say....

It's a real shame Bungie's most feature rich game has the worst maps in the series. :( How I miss Waterworks, Relic and Headlong.

I think Bungie focused too much on the 'texture' of the game than on the actual maps. The texture of Reach is amazing but the maps, not so much.

Now, why is that?

Even with the Scorpion gone, Hemorrhage still isn't great.

It's huge and empty as hell with clear lines of site across the map. This makes it suck when you're on foot, and most people don't even seem to bother to go past their half of the map (either camping at base or going no further than their teleporter). The whole center part of the map goes unused.

Valhalla was just a far superior design which fixed most of the problems with that map.

Yep. Also, the spartans don't move as fast as they did in H3. Everything in Hemorrhage seems slow.

It could fix it if Bungie was willing to implement this Sanguine and take out Hemorrhage. Fat chance of that happening though.

Prove me wrong, Bungie.

I hate all the vehicles in game that's not the Ghost. They are poop.

Hot Potato on Boardwalk. We have the ball below. I have rockets. The enemy drops down upon us. I whirl about and fire the rockets blind and get a double kill.
