What if... MuchoMalo is Burntpork  Man those were the days.

Btw somewhat ontopic, thinking about the NX, with all the news going towards the hybrid set-up we haven't heard much (rumours) regarding the OS right? Wonder how that's going to work. I remember Nintendo hiring guys who worked on PS's OS... I'm also wondering if Nintendo will make accomplishment a systemwide thing for NX just like achievements/trophies for Xbox/Playstation.

I remember someone speculating once months ago with mynintendo, "...An achievement system where you get mynintendo points as a reward."

I'd expect the reward to be platinum coins though.

Yeah, I've read that too. But like trophies it would be cool to get bigger rewards.

"Get a Bronze Star to get 20 platinum coins!"
"Get a Silver Star to receive 50 platinum coins!" etc.

I love how everyone is freaking out about the Splatoon contest prize but ignoring the Uniqlo prize which was announced months ago (an NX signed by Miyamoto).

Honestly, people here (and everywhere) tend to have very short memories. The Xbox One was unveiled 6 months before launch and I can't recall this type of entitled complaining about how awful their marketing was before the reveal... I guess the difference is that everything about the XB1 leaked months before that, and we knew not to expect anything crazy like we should with Nintendo.

I still think September-October is the likeliest reveal time. I just don't think January is realistic because it's too close to launch for retail partners, development partners, and for Nintendo's marketing efforts too. Also they previously said they'd talk about it in 2016, and if it's ahead of schedule I see no reason for that to change. November-December is too close to the holidays so I kind of doubt that, but I suppose it's possible.

Let's all start freaking out if December goes by without hearing about it. There's really nothing wrong with their strategy so far, but that will indicate something is up (at least to me).

Yeah, that reveal went perfectly smooth. They controlled the message and all. There was no backlash or anything that ruined their plans or nothing bad about the marketing before the reveal. Lol.

Disastrous marketing AT the reveal is very different than disastrous lack of marketing BEFORE the reveal, which is what I'm addressing (people saying that this silence is terrible marketing). Unless there was something before the reveal that I'm forgetting...

Look, don't get me wrong, the silence is annoying and I don't really understand what they gain from keeping quiet so long, but I don't see it really as Nintendo failing at marketing or being stupid or insular, since we really have no idea what they have, especially software wise. Also they are professionals in this industry and I am not. I like to think they know better than me in these instances.

Man, that was a long time ago. What ever happened to Burntpork? Didn't he get banned regarding Project Café?

The disastrous marketing at the reveal happened because things leaked out before the reveal and they couldn't control the message anymore.

I don't think there was any salvaging the draconian practises Microsoft had in store for the One originally, controlled message or not.

If Nintendo were to attempt something similar, by all means they deserve all the backlash in the world. And I say that as a very big fan.

Is that the case? The used game fiasco was leaked before, and not something they were promoting at the reveal? From what I remember that was what caused the biggest backlash.

Either way your point is a good one, that if they keep this silence up much longer more and more information will leak, and might confuse their messaging too much. Then again, Nintendo is likely aiming for a different audience than MS was aiming for, and the casual/mainstream/tablet audience likely doesn't follow videogame leaks as closely as we do.

I think we'll agree that they should reveal it ASAP though. I can't think of a good enough reason to put it off much longer.

Yeah, logically it should be sometime in the next 2-3 weeks before everything in the final dev kits leak out.

I can't believe how much time has passed since we heard the words "Nintendo NX" from Iwata. I also can't believe that we still have no official word on anything regarding the machine, so close to its supposed release date. I firmly believe they're going to reveal it this month.

I'd argue they'd deserve a worse backlash, because they aren't in a dominant position market-wise, so it'd be an even more astoundingly moronic act.

I think media probably got invites already. Gaming media has been quiet and certain insiders on here have been quiet. NX rumors are all of a sudden quiet...

they may already know when the event will be. Or they might've given all necessary information. Or Nintendo Ninjas did their magic.

All valid reasons why they stopped sharing info.

My buddy told me there us a wallstreet journal article that has 3rd party developers interviewed saying that the NX can run games on the same level of the ps4 and xone? Can anyone confirm the existence of such article?

Mine was better, today, part of Sony's conference. The so called "trinity" portable.

$10 psn increase is to cover Nintendo's share of the subscription, the third part of trinity is nvidia streaming~

Dreams are fun~~~

Dreams are pretty fun! Though my dream partner for Nintendo would be Microsoft, not Sony.I think that Microsoft and Nintendo just complement each other nicely. Microsoft has a great OS and online infrastructure, but they lack "exciting" first party studios. Let's also not forget that Microsoft owns Rare.

NX = Nintendo Xbox confirmed.

I'm pretty sure it's in Nintendo's best interest to turn Splatoon into one of their flagship series. And that requires sequels (and spin-offs too, can't wait for the shitstorm there with the way people have been reacting to spin-offs lately).

So I'd say Splat2n for NX is kind of an unspoken truth. It's simply going to happen. There's no way it's not.

The Splatoon characters lend themselves to a wide variety of gameplay.. I, for one, would welcome a Splatoon 2D platformer. I think the basic mechanics would translate well into 2D.

Yeah, we definitely need another 2D platformer from Nintendo.
Seriously...

It's probably my favorite genre of game but C'MON. Enough already. Nintendo needs to diversify their lineup more than that, especially with their vast array of IP.

3D platformers are still fine. Not like Nintendo will take a stab at that for anything other than Mario, though.

No, but we can agree it's not likely before TGS. We cannot however say anything definitively.

Hah good ninja edit, yes I agree with your edit.

Yeah, I quickly realized that I have to work on my semantics. I'd probably be a little less hated if I'd started doing that sooner. No use crying over spilled Moo Moo Milk though.

You're not wrong.

Nintendo is too conservative for this cutthroat business.

Yet they're the same company that showed one fucking game at E3...
