I think Nintendo could overshadow the PS4 Pro with the NX as long as they don't have the Zodiac Killer present the thing. Mark Cerny gave off some serious sociopath vibes today.

It's a mobile runner. Not making it F2P severely limits it's audience.

By that logic every single game on the AppStore should be f2p, cause apparently that severely limits their audiences.

A taped, edited event is FAR better for a reveal like this. It allows for information to be clear, concise, and prevalent.

I would honestly prefer a Direct for that reason. They can be so much more creative with that format as well, and with all of the other console news out of the way, they could drop it and pull a lot of mindshare, considering the "new" things from their competitors are old things with new chips.

It's free to start meaning more people can play it. So like a trail, they've done it before on 3DS. I guess they don't want people to make the game feel bad to play after awhile if you don't play since they do want people to play the game and then come over to Nintendo platforms

I guess it's not impossible, just very unlikely. I imagine they'll want people to be able to play it and trusting various journalists to not reveal the event before they do seems unlikely

Analysts who are best informed to make educated guesses thought an announcement might come before TGS. Since the system was originally scheduled for this holiday, probably November, we can presume the original plan was a reveal at E3 at the latest, five or so months before release. So this or nezt month is a good bet since the system is scheduled for a March release and the latest ER rumor says they're ahead of schedule. Finally of note, John Harker who is a credible source has indicated Sony and Nintendo were racing to see who would announce first, and more recently IIRC he said that he no longer expected an announcement to necessarily come before TGS. Anyone please do feel free to correct me if I got any of this wrong.

They'd keep it secret due to an embargo preventing them from discussing it. I think it's a reasonable possibility. It's also possible though that the initial reveal won't include press hands-on time, though that seems moderately unlikely to me at this point.

You have to remember, Nintendo usually wants to announce things on their terms.

If Nintendo only invites a few Journalists from the biggest gaming sites, it would be easy to find the leaker. And if the NDA says you have to pay a lot of money if you leak something, people won't say a word.

Still I don't think that they invited for the event at all.

So, what if this was all a mistake. The pad are not detachable. It's .. the screen that is, and it's optional.

What if the console is in the pads (it's not possible cause there are two.. but anyway let me have fun ok). What if the NX is a screen less portable, that can use.. your phone's screen... That way it gives you controls, Nintendo games, battery life, power, but people don't think they need two devices. It's a thing for their phone. BAM mic drop.

(That said it would potentially sell to way more people)
