exactly.

nx january reveal is happening, friends.

NX will be shown this year, Nintendo said as much themselves. They will not show every detail of NX this year and will show more next year in a Nintendo Direct (or something similar) before launch.

Now this is just speculation, but it seems like a very safe and very obvious bet.

Analysts said they expected Nintendo to release NX details by early October.
I personally am just waiting for October 26/27 and Nintendo's Second Quarter Earnings Release/Semi-Annual Financial Results Briefing. They're bound to say something about NX then.

"We will not be addressing the NX today. Please understand".

BTW, regarding the "you don't need to show NX so soon, just look at PS4 Neo" thing people were saying...

Since Sony chose to reveal the PS4 Pro so late, it's now completely impossible for them to add a UHD drive. The possibility of consumer rejection with no chance to fix it is the risk you take when delaying your reveal for so long.

I doubt Sony wasn't expecting backlash or that they would add a UHD drive if they had time. This really has little to nothing to do with the matter at hand.

well golly mister, I hope you're excited to play the all new... new super mario bros nx!

Cross-posting this since I think it's relevant, though to me it's not 100% clear if Miyamoto-san is referring to 2D and 3D Mario games or just 3D, at least in the first quote.

-

Regarding a new Mario at launch, Miyamoto-san's comments at E3 indicate we won't see one until next E3 at the earliest:

"We're always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you'll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two," Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview with IGN.

"Maybe next E3 we'll be able to share something."

"It's kind of difficult with Mario because some of the more important conventions of Mario are based on the approachability and accessibility of those games," Miyamoto said, noting that having new people join Nintendo has allowed them to look "at the conventions with fresh eyes."

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1235065

Last year, in September 2015, Tezuka-san said:

“We will continue to make 3D and 2D Mario games, but I want to make one that even exceeds New Super Mario Bros. I can’t say anything concrete yet, but you may see it within a few years.”

http://alwaysnintendo.com/takashi-tezuka-wants-to-create-non-mario-projects/ (translation courtesy of Cheesemeister)

And back in July of 2015, Eurogamer posted an interview with Miyamoto about SMG3/future projects:

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has spoken of the "opportunity" for a new Super Mario Galaxy game as the company's "hardware technology gets better and advances".

For many fans, the original Mario Galaxy and its sequel represent Nintendo at the peak of its 3D platforming powers. But it has now been five years without another Galaxy-style title.

"[A new Mario Galaxy] is always in discussion," Miyamoto told Eurogamer. "But even with Mario 64 there was a lot of feedback about motion sickness with the 3D or maybe us making it too difficult.

Nintendo has since returned its focus to more traditional Mario outings, such as its 2D New Super Mario Bros. series.

"Going back to our roots and making New Super Mario Bros., anyone can play that," Miyamoto continued. "So that's why we went back.

"We're always thinking, is there a middle ground where people who do enjoy the 3D worlds of Galaxy and those who enjoy New Super Mario Bros. can both enjoy it? We're always looking at those opportunities," he added.

The recent Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS and 3D World for Wii U are examples of this middle ground. Both titles feature 3D environments but still do not offer the free-roaming levels of Galaxy, or earlier titles such as Mario Sunshine and Mario 64.

"On the other hand, me and [Yoshiaki] Koizumi-san, director of Galaxy, are always looking to challenge Galaxy and do another 3D action title," Miyamoto continued. "However we can't make so many games at once in parallel.

"But as the hardware technology gets better and advances, I think there will be a lot of opportunity for both options."

When asked what extra hardware power would be needed - and whether this meant Nintendo would now wait for its upcoming NX console - Miyamoto was coy:

"Wii U's definitely good enough in terms of hardware performance, it is more the workload of the team. If you look at Star Fox Zero, the TV and GamePad are both rendered in 60 frames, so in total that's 120 frames. It's really just a matter of the CPU speed at this point."

The number of Nintendo fans that have picked up 3D paint shooter Splatoon will also help increase the number of players that are used to controlling a 3D camera, Miyamoto added, and should help the next 3D Mario find a wider audience.

The wider audience of the 2D side-scrolling Mario titles is reflected in the fact that New Super Mario Bros. titles have sold far more than the Galaxy games.

Can't read the article but who are these "analysts" even meant to be? Seems like a very broad term which could include anybody really. Can't say I care what they think as their guesses are just as good as ours.

Spun this off into its own thread, in part to try to temper September expectations a bit (though I do still think September is a good bet):

FWIW, the WSJ is a source of extreme repute, and as such I believe the analysts at least potentially have more information than we do, and that's what I expect may be part of the reason WSJ cited them.

Maybe I'm just a jerk but I feel like I've been patient enough. I mean, c'mon: Announcing an official release date but still not really announcing much of anything about what it is they're going to be releasing? I mean FFS they announced the March 2017 release date back in April and since then it's been nothing but crickets. We're about six months away from the expected release and no one outside of Nintendo (and tight lipped developers) has ANY flippin' clue what to expect.

Which leads to the endless amount of rumors being thrown around.
Honestly, each iteration of these rumors make me more exasperated with Nintendo as a whole.

Unless I misunderstood Oregano's post (and please correct me if I did, Oregano), I don't think he or anyone else are expecting we will get a date for the system launch with no other information. I think the date he and others are referring to is the announcement of the date on which we will learn about NX. I don't know that anyone thinks NX will announce "NX is coming March 32nd," and then not provide any more information, at least at this point. Hope that makes sense and makes ya feel a bit better about it. (Apologies if I totally misunderstood your post, it's early and I'm still waking up!)

Here comes the hype, reveal date confirmed.

I don't mean to take the wind out of your sails at all, and I hope the date is correct, but IIRC there's been some significant debate ITT about whether that source did predict those games previously or if they were in part making educated predictions. That is to say, they didn't predict the games by name, just more in concept IIRC.

Last night I dreamt that Nintendo announced the NX but the 3D graphics capability was about on par with the original DS. However it had a huge 1080p screen and the best 2d capabilities of any machine ever.

Has anyone put together a decent (sensible) launch list yet?

We know we'll be getting Breath of the Wild, and since looking at previous launch titles and their relationship with Ubisoft, I reckon we can count on a new Rayman release or at least an Assassin's Creed Port, or Beyond Good and Evil 2

I wouldn't rule out Super Mario Maker or Smash Bros , which I think for the first 3 months is an insanely strong first party launch. Looking beyond and at third party releases, we'll probably have Call of Duty and Fifa . Whatever happened to the Waverace ip? N64 and GC both launched with it

This would be my dream console. More 2D Zelda please.

I made a list with all credible rumors: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=215758899&postcount=3056

There's a section for games. I did not add speculated games though.

A launch title list at this point would be nothing more than speculation, so it's probably better to wait until Nintendo reveals NX.

I strongly hope for a new Rayman. I don't remember who posted it but I think the theory that BG&E2 has become a UbiArt game is a reasonable one, especially if it's NXclusive (coining that right now, BRB).

I have to imagine there will be at least one first party console exclusive game at launch. I'm not sure what it could be, though. Presumably something showing off system capabilities i.e. SM64, Luigi's Mansion, Wii Sports or Nintendo Land.

Don't know right now it could be anything, NX delayed to fall 2017 therefore announcement delayed either till next year with Nintendo trying to get some earning this fiscal year thanks to Pokemon Go, Mario Run and new 3DS games coming soon...or they'll stick with the March 2017 release and the announcement will be in a few days carried by the renewed Mario and Pokemon hype...all that remains is to wait

I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't have until October to reveal NX. Yes, there were rumors for September, but plans can change. Not revealing it in September doesn't mean there's a delay. (It's not like September is over yet...)

A reveal in November or later wouldn't be a good idea for several reasons, but Nintendo won't do this anyway.

Emily Rogers said something along the lines of the NX being ahead of schedule, so I don't think it's getting delayed at this point.

Not to be a broken record, but if it makes you feel any better, there is no reason at this juncture to believe the system will be delayed. At the end of July Nintendo was still telling investors that it would hit March 2017. The latest Emily Rogers rumor says they're ahead of schedule. And, maybe most importantly, Nintendo hasn't announced a release month for a system and then changed it in the past 20 years or so.

Nothing says that these are the same analysts who predicted pre-TGS though. Not that they're wrong, but it just doesn't mean much.

I had a horrible dream that the entire NX presentation was leaked, and the official name was the Nintendo Duo, but spelled weirdly like Duouo... I didn't want to spoil myself by looking at pictures or anything but I did happen to see one photo which was literally just two Wiimotes connected to each other side by side, where their entire front surface was a free-form screen. So the NX consisted of two wiimotes with screens. It was terrible.

That's is only my guess, I don't know how, when and where NX will be revealed. However, the events of October 26/27 are something we know about, so I figured it is a good point of reference.

The thing is, I think if they wait until them it'll most likely be an announcement of a delay.

The NX is allready in people's homes. Everyone who owns an WiiU owns an NX. The Wii U game-pad will simply download some RAM, GPU, CPU in a future update.

All I know from this thread so far is that miyamoto is in town, there is an mario endless runner that is not in any threat of a dmca and if a poster like
mallow01.jpg

is convinced that its happening... Then ronpaul_its_happening.gif.

I honestly think that the Apple conference putting Nintendo at least somewhat in the spotlight would be a great chance to reveal or at least talk about NX. There's already buzz, so add more buzz.

Of course, I said that when Pokemon GO was at its peak, too.
