Hm, I thought there was that MCV rumor stating Mario and Pokémon within 6 months of launch. I took that to mean more like holiday, but I assumed it was true insofar as we'd see Mario and Pokémon (maybe a Sun/Moon port) Holiday 2017 to drive sales.
A 3D Mario in late 2017 would make sense, given EPD Tokyo's timetable. I would also say a port of Sun/Moon (or Star, if that's what it is) would be a decent bet for the second half of the year. Game Freak have tended to wait before bringing Pokemon to new platforms, but in all those prior cases the new handheld has been backwards-compatible, providing a way for owners of the new device to play the games. Without BC (as far as we know) this time it makes sense to put out a port to give NX owners a way to play the game, and of course squeeze some money out of owners of both who decide to double-dip.
