What's the point of the removable controls? It'd be really annoying if you have to remove them to put it in the dock. If you don't, why would you ever take them off?
Aren't those the detachable controllers though?
I don't know if that's the gimmick, but it's most likely a selling point, yes. Having two motion controls built in as well as a touch screen would allow for devs to make all sorts of new experiences as well. Hopefully good ones too. It'll certainly be different enough to stand out vs PS4 and X1It's clear now that the "gimmick" (or one of them) is a portable that supports two players local multiplayer out of the box for games like Mario Kart, Super Mario, Smash Bros, Just Dance and etcetera.
Well, invites would need to go out next week at the latest to give journalists enough time unless they've gone mental and won't have any sort of press hands-on until near release.
Why would it have such enormous empty bezels on the sides? That makes it an entire 25% bigger than it needs to be. It looks terrible.

Ah. The other mockup makes more sense, I guess. No, that person's mockup has enormous side bezels that are the size of the controllers in addition to the controller attachments themselves. It makes no sense.

Very little about the dock is known overall, beyond apparently 2 USB ports (on the devkit dock). We haven't seen anyone claim that the dock allows the device to run at a higher power level, though this is a very common and reasonable function in a consumer electronics device, which is why it's been speculated so heavily.

I even expect the final unit to have a built in kickstand.
The current rumors go >2x Wii U in specs on a portable. It'll be a very powerful handheld while allowing Nintendo to make better looking HD games than the Wii U and while keeping budgets down and increasing output. If you want more and better games from Nintendo this is probably the best option.I'm hoping all these leaks are false :/
Even the Wii U leaks were more exciting because at least there was hope that it would be powerful by virtue of it being a home console. Even then Nintendo went for power effiency, heat, and size over power. That was with a console! I imagine they will be even more conservative given that this is a hybrid with the usual limitations that go portable hardware.

So, nothing was saying about it. Noone confirm and noone dismiss.
Anyone tried to ask Emily about the dock?
A stand was in the Eurogamer report, I think.
Apple sent the invites for their iPhone 7 event about a week before it, so i guess if those rumors of a NX presentation September 20 are real then those invites should be sent before the end of next week...always assuming they'll have such event rather than a standard Nintendo Direct

Dock is an SCD sold separately that adds extra power?

To be clear, this thing is barely going to be portable at all. It's going to be like trying to fit a Wii U gamepad in your pocket - and then some!

It'll have to be cheap enough to succeed, though. $199 would be great but $249 is also likely, but a bit too close for comfort to the ps4/slim

It's basically going to be as portable as a tablet, which is fine in 2016 / 2017.

If you detach the controller units.
Okay, if that's the case, then how do people carry these behemoths around?? Sure a lot of women have purses, but for someone like me who doesn't carry any extra accessories, how on earth do I keep this thing discrete when I'm not using it on the go?
No way it's $199 imo.
Unless the dock actually did help performance a lot and was sold separately for $60

My biggest problem with the detachable controls is that it's almost impossible to use each side as a stand-alone controller when their functionality would be so limited. I mean, you've got an analog stick, 4 face button, maybe a start button, and that's it (there may also be shoulder buttons, but those would be at the BOTTOM of the controller if you were to hold it sideways). When was the last time you've ever played a multiplayer game that only used those buttons? Almost every 3D multiplayer console game uses the second analog stick or shoulder buttons in some way, shape, or form. In addition, if you were to get with a buddy and play a multiplayer game with him on the go with those detachable controllers, it would still be next to impossible to see what's going on in the game because of the relatively small screen, and you and your buddy would have to cram yourselves in front of the screen just to see what the heck is going on.
Waaaay too complex for ordinary folks.
As many have sai before, it's not clear how that would work.. Cause those small detachable half controllers won't be enough for big games (like monster hunter), and cause the screen will be too small to play correctly something like mario kart or splatoon on it, especially with a split screen..
That and.. i'll say it again. If a game needs you to put the screen on some plane surface, it's not portable anymore i'm sorry. You can't do that in transport for exemple.
Does anyone else remember the original first "rumor" for NX last year, that in addition to having a TV out dongle on the unit, it would "work with PS4 and smartphones".
Well, wouldn't it be totally crazy if Nintendo is somehow entering some kind of partnership with Sony, and the NX is designed to work with the PS4 Neo and it's controllers for docked play?
