That's not what ResetEra's moderation strives for. They strive for ideological uniformity - which includes allowing certain types of racism and certain types of bigotry to rear their heads. Any attempt to portray moderation over there as mere housecleaning against racism and bigotry is a complete misrepresentation.

I'm not stanning for the resetera mods, I'm just supporting the claim that unmoderated online communities tend to go in that direction. That doesn't mean you have to do what they do.

Edit: actually I wasn't supporting the bit about tightly controlled speech and tough rules. You don't need to go nuts. Just ban the people who say racist things. The biggest challenge is indirect racism. Does something amount to racism with context even if it isn't outright racist taken in isolation? On that you just have to make a call.
