B-Dubs of all people should be giving people the benefit of the doubt and not judging them for something they said years ago.
But he did the opposite with
Black Chamber
because B-Dubs didn't have the moral fortitude to stand up to the mob braying for Black Chamber's head on a silver platter.

They have to hunt down and ban everyone they can because their whole thing is creating a "safe space" except they don't let anyone define what this means. A safe space for me is not necessarily a safe space for you, even if we appear in the same intersectional groups. Kyuuji is clearly not "unsafe" from Cyberpunk2077 or she wouldn't be enjoying her free copy. Other trans users clearly feel "unsafe" if the game is even mentioned because they're nuts. At some point someone has to make a decision on how to enforce both these views but you can't. The only answer is to continue slicing down the userbase through banning until there's a small core group left in charge.
They've already in many ways achieved this. They've defined that core group by refusing to ban the members in it. And letting them dictate what other members need to be banned or driven off. Or allowing them to use alt accounts freely like Banshee mcspook does. Or letting them violate the few clear rules they've established like posting PMs or off-site drama or whatever. The main effect is forever a ratcheting down on all the other members, the ones who aren't playing the political game to achieve status in the progressive stack, until the core group either wins by destroying everyone else or themselves loses interest and leaves. The only question is how long the people who just want to post shit will remain larger than the group that's seeking to gain positions of status within the small group through political warfare.
Though admittingly that can last a pretty long time if there's not an upsetting event that shears across the intersectional groups.

They were willing to pay for the bulk of ResetERA.com when it launched. The hosting, etc. They don't seem to have much technical knowledge though. Originally it was a multiperson group including Shinobi602 and others but Cerium bought them all out at some point.

The story goes he and a few others were planning Resetera as a Nintendo-GAF exodus, but used the 2017 drama to their advantage and build it bigger than they ever dreamed. Cerium got his dad to put up the money to setup the site and then apparently some LLC was formed so there would be no single owner. But then the people in the LLC saw the nutcases taking over the asylum and cashed out; leaving Cerium and his dad the sole people cashing the ad checks.

it's cerium. he never really posts and i swear i dont know who that guy is, but its just one owner.
what happened after the gaf exodus was that a bunch of different forums were going to be spun up. everyone hated the old gaf moderation team and just wanted to get the fuck out of gaf. then somehow a few folks got together and convinced everyone in discord to go to one place to keep the community together, and promised everyone that the bans will not be harsh, that the moderation will be light and fair. they basically lied. most of the founding members/mods soon left and were replaced by insane people who turned that place into nazi germany.
meanwhile evilore finally found out what bishop and others in the mod team were doing and started reversing some of the bans here. Now gaf is basically what era promised it would be. An open and fair moderated forum where you can say what you want without fear of getting banned.
and yeah, i never did an account suicide either. it took me like 3 years to get approved lmao. but tbh, i remember seeing those account suicide posts of people posting absolutely horrific stuff like people taking shits, disgusting porn and thinking if I wanted to be part of a community that welcomed these psychopaths. the early days were fun and i kinda forgot about those awful goodbye posts, but they soon showed their true colors and its been all downhill since.

The old guard (shinobi602, Nibel, and Daniel Ahmad [or ZhugeEX]) left their administrative roles and honestly that's when the website started to go downhill. I liked those guys and they're actually pretty cool on Twitter. I guess some people dislike Daniel Ahmad since he's more political, but I agree with his politics so it never bothered me.

Not strictly true there was another person that was willing to pay and they rejected him.
Resetera only existed for cerium as he thought he could flip it for a six figure sum that Evilore was once offered for GAF. It was and still is all about the money and I assume it is still paying for itself and turning somewhat of a profit but as soon as it gets near the red he'll sell it.

So their owner is just some guy who lets the insane asylum run the place? Was he in any way affiliated with the groups that are completely radical over there? That's the only thing that makes sense, but I can't imagine he's happy with how things are trending now.
The guy found himself in the same predicament that EviLore did here in that the moderation team became so influential and powerful that he's probably too scared to do anything himself for fear of some massive exodus so he just goes with the flow...That works temporarily, but long-term it's a recipe for disaster.
Certainly glad this place has cleaned up the act and doesn't tend to moderate heavily in favor or against certain groups just for having a certain opinion. The moment moderators get drunk with power is when ownership loses all control of these situations.
I honestly have no clue as to the politics of Cerium but he seems well on his way to making the same mistake Evilore did:

I dont think there's any harm in sharing that here. Kinda nice to see some humanity from Era staff for a change. You should see what some of the mods have posted in the Discords over the years. They're not the biggest fans of the community either.

To be fair to ResetEra, in the beginning there did seem to be a genuine wish among a lot of people there to get a new start without all the fanaticism that made NeoGAF so bad towards the end.
But it didn't last.
One of the biggest mistakes was that the social justice warriors on the moderation team successfully implemented only recruiting more diehard SJWs to the team and that is why ResetEra is the way it is now.

There were a couple people willing to pay for it IIRC.
The site should still be profitable for some time, I've seen some back of the envelope calculations for its size and it should do decently for a while even as it implodes more. Definitely not going to flip it for any kind of big pay day probably. But for an already rich dude like Cerium supposedly is, it's free money to let it just coast downward on other people's watch. There's always people willing to get power in a small group for free.

It was all lies. Old GAF became shit because of the mods agenda. Those same mods ran Resetera and as soon as they thought they had rounded up all the GAF sheep looking for a new home they stopped being reasonable and reverted back to the same behavior.

i like that gaf has a ban justice thread for when a mod does misread the situation and goes overboard. either you can go in and make your case or your friends will do it for you and ive seen perma bans overturned. you also have warnings that fucking expire so you dont have mods who see one warning for console wars and think you are constantly shitting up threads.
i think you should read up on Cerium. From what i have read and i might not have all the details right, but he was in the news for accusing a gay librarian of making a pass at him and his friends. the case went to court and the guy was found not guilty and cerium was said to have fabricated the story because he was a homophobe. yes, owner of era was declared a homophobe by a court. cerium refused to even address the whole thing only to post a story a couple of years later about how the librarian was now in prison for murdering someone which apparently means cerium isnt a homophobe who accused someone of sexual harassment and got him fired.
outside of that, i have never seen him post anywhere on era. evillore was far more active.
