I'm reminded of when gay riights was the big cause du jour, and shows like Queer Eye came out. At a time when gay people were still openly discriminated against, there was a huge push to show the public that gay people were just regular people. And beyond just being regular, it highlighted a ton of positive character traits! They'd come remodel your house. They'd teach you how to cook. They'd teach you about culture, fashion, and self-care. They openly demonstrated why the world was a better place with them in it.

The trans movement you see on places like Era (and I want to emphatically state that this DOES NOT represent transpeople as a whole) demonstrates the opposite. They constantly push transpeople as being miserable, uptight dictators who force people to walk on eggshells around them, and they have the audacity to say they speak for the community as a whole. In doing so, they're accomplishing exactly the opposite of what they claim to be fighting for.

My personal experience, the gay community is usually portrayed as victims, because overall they are wonderful people, non violent, non aggressive, wonderful people. The trans people at our work place, are extremely aggressive and angry. They appear unhinged at times. Just like on ERA, honestly. They are also untouchable and get away with murder. They are heavily protected, in the same category as indigenous people to be honest. I realize my work place is only a microcosm of the world and not an accurate reflection of the trans community. At least, I hope not.

But you know what, Rome wasn't built in a day, change, actual change takes time. Just ask the Gay or Black communities.

I've come to the conclusion, ERA is just not real anymore, it's people pretending and pulling strings. Emperor Palpatine would be proud at this masterful puppet show. I just can't believe this circus is real and anyone could be that unaware of themselves.

With Cyberpunk they simply misfired: they took old-ass tweets as undeniable proof that CDPR are transphobic, and are trying to prove it by looking at every aspect of the game and its marketing through bias-tinted glasses. The way they handled the entire incident, with the bans and thread closures, is embarassing, especially in light of the fact that all the main activists of the game who fought to get the game banned... are now playing it. Yeah, a friend bought it for me. My brother's wife account. I got a code from my GPU. A copy of the game fell onto my roof.

They played a performance based on a prejudice, not based on facts. And to think that they could have had legitimate reasons to make outrage about the game, like the crunching. But no, they preferred to create their own narrative instead, and once they played out the drama, they proceeded to play and discuss the game as if they weren't claiming it's a literal nazi game 24 hours earlier. This may just be me, but if I spend hours fighting against a company that discriminates people, I would not buy their products. These folks opened up the champagne for disrupting discussion on a video game forum, that they banned folks who didn't agree with their means, and now they're playing as if nothing's happened.

How can I live with the more extreme views that are present on Gaf? Well, I can discuss with those people and try and put some sense into them. I can put them on Ignore. I can report their posts. I can avoid the threads where it happens altogether. Power is in my hands, I don't need overprotective moderators to permaban anyone who "dismisses concerns" or "could possibly be a troll". All discussion on boards like these is done anonymously and without faces, and Era mods would be surprised at the amount of dishonest trolls that populated this entire CDPR incidents. But I mean, if they can look at the mental gymnastics they produced to justify them insulting folks who play the game, then end up playing themselves... it's their doing.

For example, as someone who leans left (who believes resetera as a whole is clinically insane), I've decided I don't want to frequent the Politics forum here, because I honestly find it a cesspool and not worth engaging in. You mean, the more diverse views that are on GAF? I don't feel this place is extreme at all, more balanced if anything. There are extremists on both sides, but I have never witnessed a place as extreme as I have ResetERA, where every thread is infected with weak, victim-minded people that have absolutely no tolerance for outside views or discussion. Which is hilarious because they claim to be so tolerant an open minded about everyone in their echo chamber of "diversity".

Even as a liberal you have to admit that ResetERA is FARRRR more extreme than this place. Any place that considers 50% of the US population to be racist, hateful, nazis is totally naive and out of touch. It's so bad that I'm sure posters over there alienate friends and family on the basis of political fervor, and that's downright sad. To be fair, at every company I've worked at, we get bonuses based on financials and sometimes the wishy washy personal goals and objectives thing. It has nothing to do with product reviews. Not even the marketing managers in charge of their product lines get bonused on how great a gadget reviews. Their entire line of brands can get 5/5 Amazon ratings but if it sells crap sinking the corporate ship, we all get zero or a shitty bonus.

And some departments traditionally get very low or zero bonus no matter what.
