Resistance 3 |OT| You ARE the Resistance

playing the game and like it very much. Just wonering how comes that they published a 600MB patch and the game is still buggy. Smaller bugs but still bugs. But I hate the fact that you can play online with out the code.

Bah, weaksauce.

So what's the incentive of New Game+ aside from playing on Superhuman to get the trophy? (and the other trophies that one might have missed the first time out)

Playing with cheats.

I rented this game from Redbox. I played through the first two chapters and returned it. It didn't captivate me for some reason. Ultimately, I realized that I didn't enjoy the combat enough to play through more of the game. I didn't enjoy the Killzone 3 demo or any Halo games either. I wish there was more interactivity with the other rebels in the beginning to make me care about being a hero for these people. I guess console roller coaster shooting gallery games are not my thing. The game was worth the $2.15 that I spent to check it out.

I love the first person perspective though, Portal 2 and Deus Ex are my GOTYs so far.

I've just borrowed this of a friend for a couple of week, my first ever PS3 game was resistance, so I'm looking forward to this!!!

Is MP still OK? I tend to do the SP Campaign's first before venturing online, gives me enough time to learn all the weapons etc..

You should have stuck with the game for a couple more chapters. You really didn't get to see anything the game has to offer visually or combat wise.

I'm surprised you stuck with Deus Ex, that game takes at least an hour to really get started. :p

I just killed the Widowmaker in New York, how far long am I till the end ?

So far this game is on par with KZ3's epicness.

Though I hate those annoying little cockroaches. They even spit shit. :/

edit: chapter 17 IIRC.

2~3 hours more? Whole campaign took me 10:30, as per the in-game stats. I'm not sure if it counts deaths/retries though.

Certainly some big fights still ahead of you :)

I believe I am only half way through the sp. But it gives off such a nice half life 2 vibe I am totally into it. I just got through the "ravenholme" like area. The variety of guns is so fun. Sometimes I die and I try a completely different take on beating the section with different guns.

Okay, page 4 for Resistance..

anyway, just played the demo.
I really liked the gameplay. A challenge right away and very resistance 1+.
In also like what i read about a HL2 vibe.

However, i have to ask: is the game as blurry as the demo?? cause woaw.. i haven't seen a game this blurry (and jaggy) in a while..

When there's half a dozen enemies around you, their accuracy has to be toned down if you want to present the player with any sort of challenge.

Half a dozen? Try one. During the big hold the oncoming enemies off on the second floor of the bar scene, I wiped out everything save for one lone Chimera that was actually firing on the position of two of my fellow humans.
They both sat their crouched by the window, and I had to walk over and take it out myself, so the game could continue onto the next setpiece. They're useless.

Also had my first game stopping glitch, while protecting the priest. Just about finished the whole thing, and was using the Cryo gun on enemies, when suddenly he's crying for help even though there weren't any enemies around him.
The game was telling me he was in bad shape, and all I could do was walk around trying to find any baddies that I needed to take out so I could move on. I found two, but it didn't make any difference, and just had to exit the game. Sucks, cause I hate "protect the character" parts in games, and I'll have to go through it all again.

This is really some minor shit though, as the game has been fantastic so far. I read the GI review, and can't believe they made a comment about the game not having atmosphere. Did they even it? It's got atmosphere out the ying yang.

Again, i have to ask: Is the entire game as blurry/ jaggie as the current demo?

If you thought that it was unusually blurry/jaggy for a console game then yes, the entire game is like that. I thought it was beautiful.

Well, yes, the art direction is great. The atmosphere is great. But i was surpised at how blurry and jaggie it looked. Especially since Resistance 1 was pretty crisp.Maybe it's because i'm playing Gears at the moment, where the graphics have been bumped in fidelity in every new game.

Gameplay wise, i loved the demo. searching for health, ammo and the return of the weapon wheel are all fantastic. I was fighting to survive. Awesome feeling.

This is defiantely the angle they were going for and the overall feeling in the game from the opening scenes. I haven't had much time to play but I'm in
Penn
now and I'm loving the campaign.

Yeah. It's slightly sub-HD with AA. 960x704 or something. The blurriness will stay. Though I still think it's a good looking game. Great use of color, lots of detail everywhere.

finished, well it was awesome. but the ending was
underwhelming :/ The fight before you escaped and enter the Terra Former was intense. Combine that and the non-regen hp was pretty good experience and to be honest I miss that since all the shooters now have auto-regen. Only gripe is the ending..I mean the fuck was that. :lol.

Also
the part where you're in the dark areas where the only light was your flashlight, those parts have tons of potential for being an interesting level with lots of scare moments.

Wait, if 1.04 fixes the major hitches, what does 1.05 fix ? I thought jstevenson mentioned that 1.05 has been scheduled ?

Probably other low priority fixes like audio lag, network polish, scripting errors, or the dual log-in issue. That'd be my guess, at least.

Finished the single player campaign, boosted out all weapons, found most of the pickups.

The story is weaker than the previous games. Joseph simply isn't as interesting or motivated a character as Nathan was. The lukewarm ending was a disappointment, as were the lackluster supporting characters.

Wished there were more crazy weapons to get from subsequent playthroughs, but there aren't. Multiplayer is still pretty much a hit and a miss affair - playing the BF3 open beta on PS3 today made R3's misgivings even more apparent.

I was contemplating a platinum run for this game, but somehow I have lost interest for it now. The very end of the campaign is pointless and boring, one killroom after another, not even properly designed. Plus by that time the arsenal is so bananas, nothing can stop you.

Gears looks sharper, but the art direction of R3 is just great and the effects are also very nice. The weapons do have a great recoil. When shooting the Lancer in Gears I almost "feel" like the bullets don't do damage, when firing the Bullseye, it really feels like a strong weapon.
I really love the weapons of R3 and prefer the graphics of the SP, although they are a bit blurry sometimes. The haven level is awesome btw...on superhuman you really have to fight to survive. I never had that feeling in Gears 3 SP, but maybe that has to do with the healthpacks. Loosing health will make the game much more thrilling than constantly hide and wait till your health recharges.

Yeah sure,
in easy / normal xD
. I'm currently doing coop with Lince in superhuman, and the game its so fun! Things are getting really heated
damn those grims in the Ravenholm-like level, I think New York its going to be fun
. And where is my Move patch !? >:|

Is there a demo coming to PSN? I could swear I heard there was, but the game has been released for a while and still no sign...

Well, I gave up on my Move playthrough... The ADS is busted alright. I'll give it a go after the patch, hopefully soonish. The first 4 chapters are just great. The levels feel huge and let me choose different approaches to the fight. The weapon wheel is such a game changer that I must ask what was on Insomniac's mind to not use it on the second game.

Same problem over here :D
I spend more time on Gaf and thinking what to play than actually play the shitload of great games that are being released. Before I can check out the MP, the next blockbuster is in store . I also tell myself to concentrate on one game, but I can't.

OT anyone know when to expect patch 1.05?

I really want to thank for my lost time, thanks. My R3 savegame wont load anymore. That's it for me. Hope i can fight my anger and give the game a second try next year. Dear Insomniac: One thing is the most important, the savegame. I do not need trophies or fancy blings, i just want to enjoy great games i bought for 60$ (Switzerland here). No worries about loosing my saves! I already lost my savegame once in R2 and started a new run. I never had any issues what so ever with savegames, besides R2 and R3!

Yeah that's a bummer for sure. It happened to me with Ratchet&Clank ACiT. If you were enjoying the game let it pass a few days and start another run (the first levels that you already played will be faster), but backup your previous save on a pen just to be on the safe side.

I started the campaign on a different PS3 from what I normally play on and copied the save to a flash drive, then pasted it onto my normal PS3. The fle was there, but the game would not recognize it, theredore I had to start from scratch again anyhow. frustrating, but it's easy enough to get back where I was previously.
