Haven't watched it recently, but I always thought it was ok, mainly ruined by not quite getting a main story going along side the origin story. And doom being kind of petty and not so power hungry megalomaniac was a misstep (though he was better in the sequel - going after the power cosmic is something doom would do).

Thought the characterisation of human torch and thing was spot on but alba was miscast.

I know these movies messed up both Doom and Galactus, but it's safe to say they nailed Silver Surfer at least, right? He's better than a lot of the characters from the MCU.

Say what you want about this movie, but Chris Evans is a fantastic Johnny Storm.

I agree, Chris Evans was such a good Johnny Storm that Marvel insisted he come back and play Captain America. They went back to him repeatedly until he said yes. He just embodied that Marvel feel.

I really enjoyed the 2005 Fantastic Four when it came out but I also loved the comic so I'm biased. The Kirby homages when they get hit by the cosmic rays were pretty great.
