5070 = 4090 is a scam. Especially given that:

even 5080 will likely lose to 4090 and by quite a margin.
That's not a scam. It's a mediocre upgrade. The marketing tactics are scummy, but the cards themselves are improved, even if it is not setting the world on fire.

Yeah, a bit overhyped by Nvidia, no shock there. But these new cards are hardly a "scam".

Difference in upgrade is still $300 vs $400. And I'd rather keep that $100 for a difference I can see rather than spend $100 for difference I can't see. So your equation of "value" doesn't work for me. Why should I give a shit what some folks on YT say? I have a Pro and I can decide for myself.

It's good that you happy with your purchase. Still doesn't change the fact that Pro is shit value, and worse value than 5090 (vs. 4090) based on mathematics.

I was telling this few months ago.

That's not a fact. That is your opinion. Again, value is subjective.

Since they are on the 5000 series they should release an nVidia 5150 with EVH color scheme

So still I'd really like a new card with enough VRAM. But 16Gigs with house buying with wife coming up is really not worth the upgrade from 4070Ti, which besides some specific games really does handle surprisingly well to power the 4K 240Hz OLED I got last year. Then by the time super upgrades dropping it's just too close before 6xxx series.

It's a fact based on numbers. Compared to X1X and PS4 Pro this is the worst mid gen refresh released so far, more expensive and weaker in comparison. They also TOOK AWAY disc drive from it, compare it to X1X that had UPGRADED disc drive vs. One S.

None of which has any basis as to what someone considers of value to them

To you maybe not but its not up to you or Topher Topher or anyone else here to tell me what I find value in

Spoken like someone who has taken Econ 101. (Yeah, more people should take that class in college and I was a stem major.)
Kinda GIF

People should always add "to them" when they say something is of value or not

Indeed. Not going to try and define value for anyone other than myself. Thought I made that pretty dang clear.

The numbers I presented were factual as well. That doesn't mean what I see as value is fact. It simply isn't and neither is yours.

People can find value in anything - this is purely subjective. But we also have such things like price/performance ratios that give us hard data - same can be done with price/features.

$2000 ($400-$500 difference) for 33% +/- boost in performance?

Man, and I remember us arguing like retards about a $700 ($300 difference) for roughly the same performance gain ballpark. 🤭
Usual suspects gave laugh emojis when I suggested a 4070 to 5070 jump is smaller than a PS5 to PS5 Pro jump just last week. Ignore those fools.

Apparently the DLSS Transformer upgrade coming to all RTX GPUs makes Performance DLSS the same as Balanced according to PC centric so if your fine with that you'll get more juice out of your current cards.

So the 4090 gets x2 frame gen and performance mode becomes Balanced and Balanced Quality. That's pretty impressive.

Having said that I am still tempted but may wait until second wave of stock like I did the 4090.

Exactly

You don't find value in these products that doesn't mean someone like me agrees with you

Its subjective

Thinking about whether or not I should wait for the 5070 Super variant or just wait till the 60 series cards drop & I'm leaning towards waiting till the 60 series drop considering all the software upgrades we're getting. I'm currently on the 4070 Super so it'll be good enough till then for sure, and the 60xx cards will be on a new node as well before considering architectural improvements, so I might just wait it out. Gotta see more third-party tests & benchmarks though.

Look man if every time a company overhyped their product is a scam everyone is scamming.
They have expensive lawyers working on this.

Just wait for benchmarks.

I'm still holding out for raster of the 5090.

I have a 4090 and it was enough for 4k, but with the move to 5k machenima, and I can't use DLSS, I'm hoping it will be enough to get me to 30 fps with ray tracing.

Not to mention I hope topaz AI stuff will go faster

Will be riding my trusty 3090 through another generation, and hopefully the 6000 series will be a bit more compelling.

"falling for scam" is exactly the kinda language that makes the internet such a bad place in the last 10 years :/
i know u are not stupid enough to actually think that, but many just read and actually think that.

Just watch reviews and decide urself, GPUs are so extremly easy to inform urself about in terms of what u get for ur money, there is no potential to scam as long as we dont get another GTX 970 3.5gb + 500mb situation again.

I'll buy the 5090 so I can put the 4090 in my Sim Rig that has a 3090. Running games at 120hz with a 3090 creates a loud fan noise that I don't like.

I'm gonna build a new computer for 6090. Currently have a 13700k/ 4090. Might even sit that one out too if I'm still happy with the performance.

I think I'll be keeping my 4090 and buying a 5090 for my small form factor build. Or maybe put the 4090 in the sff and 5090 into my office pc.

Went with a 4080 last time which had the similar price/performance in my country as the 4090. Had I splurged on a 4090 back then I would have sat this one out.

But since I now game 90% on my TV I will probably upgrade to the 5090 this time as 4k is getting a bit challenging, not least path tracing which is impossible at this resolution, or at least not worth the FPS or image quality cost.

I would guess it's somewhere around a 75% increase in raster performance which is a worthwhile upgrade for me. And I have already noticed some games like SW Outlaws where 16 GB of VRAM isn't really enough anymore at 4k, at least with cranked up settings.

And contrary to many true frame purists I feel like frame gen is something very useful. It is only getting better and DLSS4 frame gen will help with the longevity of the card.

But I am eagerly awaiting reviews.

Had a chance to get a RTX 4070 Ti Super for like $520 before tax.

Looks like I goofed, as RTX 5070 is only 4% faster than RTX 4070.

Lol what games you playing. Cos I'm gaming on a 3070 at 1440p just fine.
It's more the fault of my Samsung Q70. I could also probly push to 1440p as well but I have to do weird things to Windows for my TV to get in 1440P mode. I've done it a few times, but it causes the screen to flash black sometimes. I know it might be the HDMI cable or my Receiver, or 120HZ mode or any number of things.
So, I just keep it either 1080P or 4K.

~30% uplift from 4090 which is in line for a normal generational leap. Plus the extra VRAM is invaluable for machine learning which I like to dabble in. The price is crazy but hey, if only AMD wasn't such garbage.

It'd be about 50-60% faster in raster, plus 2x the VRAM.

I might do the same upgrade, so I am curious about this as well.

But If the 4090 is around 35% faster than the 4080 from what I gather. And the 5090 from early impressions is around 30-35% faster than the 4090.

Say 30% and the 5090 should be 75% faster than the 4080 in raster, although we don't have the actual 5090 numbers yet.
