Job listings will list technologies/services even if they aren’t using them all. If you have experience with one it usually makes it easier to learn another since the companies tend to follow the same patterns for their APIs and software gets designed usually around the same way. Basically what they are saying is we want someone who’s worked on an online game before.

So after you pay for online for PS which is what Essentials which is $80 a year since online is included with Game Pass and you buy 1 game at $70 leaves you $90 for one more AAA game

So 2 AAA games and online vs Game Pass library which will now include COD

Silly arguments either way

I'm not saying the game isn't coming to PS5. In fact, I'm kind of expecting it to. I'm saying that MS counting experience with online platform - even ones they don't own - as a plus for a network programming role is incredibly flimsy evidence that it will.

IIRC back before Sony started porting their games to PC there were a number of job openings at Naughty Dog specifically asking for programmers experienced in working with DirectX and Nvidia GPUs, i.e. it was a requirement, not a plus. That was way more of a hint than something like this.

On job postings, they tend to cast wide nets in order to attract the right developers. If they made it too restrictive, the number of applicants they would get would be vastly reduced as you're halving the people who can apply.

Sure, it wouldn't make much sense to only post for applicants who have experience with internal, proprietary systems... although, given the current tech market and all the layoffs at companies like MS, they may well find a waiting talent pool with Xbox Live platform experience, including some who were previously doing this very job...

It's my favorite Xbox console. I guess I'd say that the success their first two console generations were marred with costly missteps and Xbox leadership took the wrong lessons forward with the One that put them into an unrecoverable tailspin.
