It was Iwata who said that via last month's Nintendo Direct.I thought it was meant to have 1GB OS reserved RAM, 1GB RAM for games? Where did I read that from?

how this is a good thing?
It's not exactly a good thing but it's not the awful thing that you're making it out to be here either. Think of it in the context of how 360/PS3 games looked progressively better as the gen went on.
If a year from now everyone (aside from the crazies) have the same opinion of the quality of WiU games that we're seeing now then that's reason to worry.
Already solid performances >>> P1 >>> Great performances now >>>P2 >>> Even Greater
P1= Improvement this last year thanks to new dev kits, sdk, engines/middleware optimization, etc.
P2= More improvements to come thanks to additional learning curve. Sources saying whereas their projects are GOLD (finished), that they could still optimize things by a lot because they understood more and more the general organization and how to properly use Wii U components.
Already good/satisfying >>>>> greater >>>>>>> potential for noticeable improvements
It's more promising for the future than:
Meh >>>>>>>> at last good after an exhausting year of release of new dev kit/sdk/etc >>>>> a tad better.
It's an awful thing. period. There is no good thing in this.
Think if Halo3 looked like Halo4(or Reach), think if Uncharted 1 looked like Unch3 and so all the other games...
If the console didn't had the learning curve but the same power the "Meh" games wouldn't exist but only Great Performance>>>>>>>>>>Great Performance with minor tweaks
Yeah but the Wii U is the first case, so the performances are already good from the "start" (at least from the V4 dev kits). So give me a smile![]()
good compared to what? ps360? i couldn't care less then, i want the best (or almost) the machine can deliver to me as soon as possible

At the moment im more excited about finding out the specs for this console and less about its actual release. Its less than 3 weeks away now in NA. The real specs must be around the corner right? Surely some insider tech people should get their hands on it soon and start revealing shit, right?
Sorry, Factor 5 isn't really around anymore.

This is the most stupid things on earth...
so instead of having an huge full library of games with the max graphics we will only have 3-4 games of that quality at the end of the life of the console when maybe no one cares about it anymore...
yeah fuck this and who thinks that is a good thing

You should calm down, you sound quite fraught.
This is how consoles work. This is why Halo 4 is so much nicer looking than Halo 3. This is why people were calling the 360 the "XBox 1.5" around launch. Games look progressively better as developers learn how to use the hardware. Expecting "the max graphics" (whatever that means) at launch of any console is literally expecting the impossible. That just isn't how reality works.
Confirmed again. It happened all over message boards. Its pretty standard for late gen games to look comparable to the first gen offerings of new consoles.I don't remember this.
It definitely happened in the beginning.I don't remember this.
I don't remember this.
It happened. Krazy Ken said it in an interview and the mainstream press ran with it and it got very popular with Sony and Nintendo fans (back then, Nintendo fans did not expect Nintendo to drop out of the graphical arms race). Xbox 1.5, Dreamcast 2, half-leap etc. The X360 launch was very underwhelming compared to expectations for the "next-gen" at that time. Sony E3 2005 and hell just about every other company too had put out BS renders and then you get wallguy and car vault. Expectations back then were way higher than anything we ended up getting.I don't remember this.
It was pretty common for the first year or so, particularly from Sony fans who thought the PS3 would dump all over the 360.
rofl, amazing
For the GPU, i don't have the GFLOP count, but according to the impressions of my sources based on the raw "performances" (a mix of framerate + resolution + what is rendered on screens) of multi projects on Wii U, + considering an intricate use of the Gamepad in addition, it's pretty safe to assume UGPU demonstrate at least 2X Xenon capabilities. Now i'm talking of demonstration. So maybe it will be 390GFLOP in paper but with some more modern architecture there, a few fixed functions here, optimizations, better ties with the other components, it could "fake" a 500/600GFLOP Xenon. And even then, it's more complicated than just GFLOPs. We talked about it already pretty extensively on previous WUST. It was my educated+sourced guesstimation back then, it may be a tad better now after the reports of huge improvements i relayed earlier (they are more explained by developers having a better grasp on the dev kit + sdk than a boost in hardware by the way).
No really, it seems it's a greatly balanced and quite capable system. With a huge learning curve, so it's promising for the future.
I skipped out on the Wii, but really wanted a Wii U.
Retro Studios
Wii U launch November 18th! Right on!

Watch someone post a thread saying "Wii U confirmed 390GFLOP GPU" lol
I know all of this you don't need to tell me that's why i said best or almostStuff
the GC worked out quite wellThis never happens. It takes time to learn the machine and what it can do.
Baby? lolYou said possible and it is possible around 5 years so you get it then. Or did you mean as soon as you want it? In that case stop being a baby. If you don't have a good pc then tough shit stop asking too much of consoles next you will be asking the PS4 and XBOX 720 the same things.
Actually is my fourth.lmao
This is your first console launch... confirmed.
I'm not entirely convinced that they are "copy/pasted from WarioWorld". Until I see a screenshot off of that website, I'm gonna remain skeptical.

look at the GameCube some of the best games are launch ones even the Wii with Galaxy1 realeased in 2007 and Galaxy2 released near the end of the life of the console don't differ too much, if they made a better console (not in terms of power but ecosystem and easy to use) the "possible" would've been in 1 year from launch but no if IdeaMan is right we have to wait half a decade to see what the console is really capable of... good thing huh? we should be happy about it because at least the console is well balanced rofl

The learning curve most definitely comes from the custom "Nintendo made" features of the GPU and the fact that this will be the first console with a OoOE Multi-Core CPU. Just like when sometimes you get a bad running console port on PC with greatly overpowered specs, the Wii U is the same yet different all over again for developers. It's just nice that it's not so different that it prevents ports from coming over in short periods of time.
I could see a lot of developers having fun learning what this system can do if they actually put forth the effort. Bayonetta 2 should be interesting........hmmm.....
Game cube? Serious? You have a bad memory.I know all of this you don't need to tell me that's why i said best or almost

Game cube? Serious? You have a bad memory.
Game cube start with Rouge Squadron II and end with Rouge Squadron III, that is miles more advanced than RS2. Nothing in NGC launch lineup comes close to RE4.
And your example of Wii is out too. Mario Galaxy is a launch game, but MG2 utilize the same engine. And again, nothing in the launch of Wii comes close to Xenoblade.
Any new console has a learning curve. But it's not like the games can't impressed from the launch until the end.

However that said, it was obviously still a leap over the previous gen at launch and many people were impressed with CoD2 and PGR3 at the time (Kameo being thought of as impressive came in retrospective)
Today, Ubisoft Montreal was holding a huge launch event for the release of their new AAA title, Assassin's Creed III. IMGMR was honored to attend the event and we got some exclusive information regarding the Wii U version. According to a Product Manager from Ubisoft, the game is playable in 3D with the help of 3D glasses. With a 3D enabled television, the game can be enjoyed in full 3D both on the big screen and the Gamepad screen at the same time.

Um, how is that possible? Didn't Nintendo specifically say that the pad is not 3D capable?

I'm actually leaning towards the WiiU hidden feature being the release of mind altering drugs.Makes...no...sense. Pad not 3D. Therefore you need to remove glasses to look at it if TV game in 3D.
I guess it will come packed with clip on gyros opically triggered mini hydraulic glasses lifters.
Don't be skeptical. That's the summary doc that went out to developers. It's pretty non-specific, isn't it? So Nintendo![]()

Should make for a hell of a Yoshi's Island sequel.

If you are going to connect Wii U with a home TV capable of displaying 3-D images, technologically, yes, it is going to be possible, but that's not the area we are focusing on... When it comes to 3-D, we already have the 3DS, and each owner of the Nintendo 3DS is capable of viewing 3-D images. However, when it comes to the home console, it depends upon the availability of 3-D TV sets at home, which, unfortunately, is not expanding enough. And rather than pouring a lot of energy into that kind of area, with the Wii U we'd like to focus more on each Wii U owner being able to have an equal opportunity to enjoy it.
