Obama on Putin and the current situation. He expressed frustration that Europe largely ignored the annexation of Crimea despite his pushes to take it seriously.

“We forgot that the post-WW2, 50-60 year stretch—that’s the anomaly. There is millennia of brutality and pillage and violence and displacement and cruelty. We created a set of institutions out of 60 million people dying in WW2 and tried to reconfigure how we might organize our society. But it is not self-executing. It is something we have to continually nurture and respond to new circumstances.”

Germany seems to insist on being on the wrong side of history when it comes to wars (possible world wars). Disgrace from them. While I understand it would be impossible for them to suddenly stop taking gas etc... from Russia, delivering the tanks should be a no brainer. Thx Merkel.

oi, strange headache strange headache ! Where you at? Your kin need their shitty actions defending.

Ah, whatever. It's not like I see your messages anymore. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
In fairness, this is a general shitfuckiness of the German government. Everything has to be filled in triplicate, then signed by 4 different idiots.

And the vast, vast majority of German politicians are absolute shite, due to some fundamental flaws of the general post-1990 mindset. Which will take several years to fix.

I've tried to raise some awareness for Ukrainian devs, this being a gaming forum and all.

This is the second time now that you're trying to needlessly antagonize me.
Two times I've already stated that Scholz sucks, here long before our discussion and here.

But it's not as if you'd care, you're just here to rile people up with your childish behavior.
Have some dignity!

I guess it's the drawback on their parliamentary organization, where everything has to be based on compromise between parties and coalitions. It has its qualities in peaceful situations, where you can take time to decide between mild decisions, it's less appropriate at war time where you have to be more reactive and decisive.

First new music from Pink Floyd in 28 years. All proceeds to Ukraine humanitarian aid.

Very cool!
Gilmour has a personal stake in this war as he has a Ukrainian daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

newFile-3.jpg

But it's good to see that Floyd are still rocking the anti-war message and Gilmour still remains a god on the guitar with those string-bending solos.
Too bad a second "The Wall" is not in the cards, make you wonder what modern artists would be capable of doing something similiar.

The lyrics are from a Ukrainian protest song from World War I.

The singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk conscripted into the Ukrainian army and is currently in hospital because he suffered a shrapnel wound.

In the meadow, there a red kalyna, has bent down low ,
For some reason, our glorious Ukraine, has been worried so.
And we'll take that red kalyna and we will raise it up,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!
And we'll take that red kalyna and we will raise it up,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!

Do not bend low, Oh red kalyna, You have a white flower.
Do not worry, glorious Ukraine, You have a free people.
And we'll take that red kalyna and will raise it up,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!
And we'll take that red kalyna and will raise it up,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!

Marching forward, our fellow volunteers, into a bloody fray,
For to free, our brother - Ukrainians, from hostile chains.
And we, our brother - Ukrainians, we will then liberate,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!16
And we, our brother - Ukrainians, we will then liberate,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!

Oh in the field, of early spring wheat, there's a golden furrow,
Then began, the Ukrainian riflemen to, engage the enemy,
And we'll take, that precious, early wheat and will gather it,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!
And we'll take, that precious, early wheat and will gather it,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!

When the stormy winds blow forth from the wide steppes,
They will glorify, through out Ukraine, the Sich riflemen.
And we'll take the glory of the riflemen preserving it,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!
And we'll take the glory of the riflemen preserving it,
And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!

For someone keen on pointing out they don’t like to be antagonised, maybe you should think a little more about calling other people’s comments on Germany ‘reductive’ when they point out the terrible way the country is responding. That seems pretty designed to rile people up, wouldn’t you say?

Germany is certainly playing a weak hand (which nobody denied in the first place), but the hot takes here are still reductive.
One doesn't exclude the other.

I've criticized Scholz way before you even talked to me, but you don't care. You just want to validate your EU hate boner.

Now that their are harsh political consequences and new santions placed on russia, Putin has sent in new orders to cremate and hide the bodies of their civilians they're murdering.

“There are two people coming out of the grove in civilian [clothes],” an unnamed Russian soldier reportedly said in an obscenity-strewn recording, which was made public by Ukraine’s SBU security service.

“Take them all f***ing out!” his superior yelled in reply. “Off them all, f***!”

It comes amid mounting global pressure to prosecute President Putin for war crimes as new evidence emerges of apparent indiscriminate civilian killings in areas where Russian forces have begun to retreat.

President Volodymyr Zelensky last night accused Russia of covering up evidence of civilian murders as troops flee for the east of Ukraine, where Ukrainian officials are expecting an imminent attack.

“We have information that the Russian military changed tactics and that they are trying to clear the streets and basements in the occupied territories of the bodies of the dead people, dead Ukrainians,” he said in his nightly video address.

Meanwhile, Mariupol City Council said yesterday that Russian troops have started deploying mobile crematoriums to erase evidence of potentially “tens of thousands” of civilian deaths in the southern port city.

“Murderers covering their tracks,” city officials wrote in a post shared on Telegram. Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko compared the scenes to “Nazi concentration camps”.

That's the danger of throwing around a label like Nazi loosey goosey. Ok, who is more Nazi like, the people who say mean things and promote their race, or the people who invade another country and wipe out the civilian population when they realize they can't control them? I also freely admit that the Ukraine "Nazis" may be doing just as bad stuff, but you can only deal with the information you know.

I had a talk with my brother this past weekend when he said he'd heard there were Nazis in Ukraine. I asked him to explain what that means and he just didn't have an answer.

I don't care about the labels or people that want to RP as hard. Judge them by their fruit; what they've actually done.

Being able to see the atrocities does hit a lot harder and make prosecutors jobs a lot easier.

But you can't hide people being missing or abducted. And while the war crimes of torture or murder may be harder or impossible to prove, the removal and destruction of the bodies is also a war crime, as is abduction.

This isn't the 19th century. There are records and copies of them everywhere.

As long as civilians are being killed or even just forceably moved, there's plenty of ammo to take on the Russians in terms of war crimes.

‘Playing a weak hand’.

Bloody hell.

Have no issue with the vast majority of EU countries, just the ones that control it.

We are trying to evacuate my wife's mother from a Russia occupied city in the south right now. I have no idea if it'll work out. It's impossible to get her out westwards so she has to go via Crimea (!) then to Georgia (!) and to EU. I have no idea how to sleep this weekend.. If it works well it'll be a miracle. There's a chance she'll be abducted or even killed. There's no words to describe how I feel about what Russia has done to Ukraine and Ukrainians..

It just gets fucking worse and worse.

We knew about civilians gathered at the station from mainstream news outlets. And yet the Russians still attacked.

I hope the Ukrainians kill as many of the invaders as they can. No empathy or even sympathy for Russians who in any support this or question the atrocities from me.
They also used a tochka-u rocket which is supposedly retired by russian army but still used by ukrainian army. Except, there are videos of russians moving these "retired" tochka-u launchers to Ukraine. Obviously, russian propaganda is already claiming that ukrainians hit that railway station themselves while hiding behind the whole "we retired these rockets" bullshit. This is a blatant planned attack on civilian targets.

Imbeciles even claimed they launched "precision strikes" against "targets near Slovyansk". Then quickly tried to delete all evidence.

UK Defence Select Committee Chairman accuses NATO of being too weak and easily spooked by Russia. Says that differentiating between defensive and offensive military aid is a waste of time. Military aid has been unilateral and disorganized because international organizations are not effective.

Germany isn’t doing itself any favors.. why should the Ukraine only suffer? Just cut ourselves off from gas , and see what happens, people tend to get creative.. but whatever.. most are paralyzed by the idea..

Messed up is a vast understatement.
"Bomb this train station full of civilians to save the children."

"But sir, I see a bunch of strollers and children among them."

"...it's for the children"

"Oh ok!"

Ok, will use that ..and yeah, it's like a lockdown on steroids. Significant that I can just see China getting up to no good to distract it's population from it by doubling down on Russia.

I don't see how it's related. China has a stubborn zero Covid policy and it is struggling to maintain that with variants like Omicron.

That's the best spin those lying candy fucks could floss.
Russians want peace quick before their invasion is completely scraped.

Considering the depravity the surprise Russian "special operation" turned out to be(after being called exercises during positioning) Ukraine retaking Crimea should be part of the negotiation to end the war. That would help stymie those Russian ambitions in the future as well as easing tensions and setting up long term peace.

Olaf Scholz press conference in London was a load of rambling nonsense.

Cause he's a shitheel.

I am really getting pissed at Germany at this point. It's not just him, it's their collective body. How dare they really. They made the WHOLE WORLD sacrifice, twice, because of their stupid murderous wars. Now, when their neighbor is being slaughtered they couldn't be arsed to sacrifice even a modicum of comfort - not even plan for it.

They just don't get it. They should be sanctioned.
