This is coming in piping hot so take with a grain of salt, but seems impossible they didn’t have a ton of casualties if there were substantial munition detonations onboard

Sinking confirmed by Russia now...

Guess it's not on fire anymore :D

Good. But could someone please explain the Russians that no matter what the actual facts are there's no one left on this planet believing their absolute scraping the barrels psychopathic fantasy stories anymore.

Edit: I was drunk for a second and added the wrong picture, deleted.

Not a nice way to go drowning in the sea. But they attacked civilians so....

Roman Tsymbaliuk: 14 sailors from the destroyed #Moskva arrived via speedboat to #Sevastopol late last night. Ambulances were already waiting for them at the docks. 496 crew members remain unaccounted for.

So what will Putin respond with after a humiliation like this? How close are we getting to him dropping the first nuke over Ukraine?

After reports speculated Moskva was being towed to Sevastopol in Crimea this monument stood out as a point of interest made more appropriate now.

The monument was erected in 1905 on the 50th anniversary of the Siege of Sevastopol, during the Crimean War, in which many ships of the Imperial Russian Navy were scuttled, most of them part of the Black Sea Fleet.

I haven't been here for a month.
It's amazing how Ukraine has resisted, from the beginning I though Russia was the second army of the world and would just steam rolled Ukraine in a week.
The Russian army is certainly not a first world army, their image was just propaganda.

I don't think it's a possibility right now:
- would be a sign of desperation
- it's a last resort weapon, things could escalate beyond his control
- he's still repeating his fairytales about liberating and helping ukrainian people, even the most fanatical russians would start having serious doubts
- would result in burning all the bridges down in relations with most countries, even those that are friendly/neutral right now

I see no gains, he's not that dumb.

The thing you have to remember is what the response would be. If Putin were to drop a nuclear weapon anywhere, the retaliation would likely be instant and terrible. He doesn’t want to die. If he launches a nuclear weapon himself, he knows his chances of dying increase hugely.

If Russia did indeed lose their flagship to "ammunition fire" then they should take it as a clear sign everything is working against. What are the odds?

As much as people like to bandy around borderline conspiracies, getting footage of combat just isn't a priority. Why risk losing an asset just for some propaganda (not necessarily the bias type)?

It's good to be skeptical and critical, but often there isn't some big cover up.

This isn't for our entertainment.

First off, it was the Ukrainian defence minister himself that disclosed the operation against the Russian flagship. This was later walked back by his adviser who would not confirm nor deny the event happened (it happened).

Secondly such footage would further highlight what a colossal failure Russia’s military is (something we already know), as well as serve as a huge morale booster especially in the shadow of Mariupol’s imminent fall and continued Russian war crimes across Ukraine. I assumed that Ukraine haven’t disclosed this footage due to OPSec reasons, and perhaps even the footage was not that good given the operation was conducted during stormy and difficult conditions.

Yep, like I inferred earlier — such an event is catastrophic and is the death knell of a ship (or any craft or vehicle really). There was a tweet earlier that indicated that rescue operations were underway in the least known position of the Moskva: are they Russian vessels being shown there? I'm assuming it's her escorts and support vessels.

Moskva, our latest secret submarine.

Boy, it'll take a few generations before the rest of the world look at the Russian armed forces, with anything but sad humour.

Bunch of farmers, led by a idiot, trying to remain relevant on the worldstage.

Now, get some spies in there to find out just how many of their nukes are still viable.

That doesn't mean they have footage, and as you admitted, if they do it may well not be good quality. Considering even footage of ground forces firing on drones often isn't of good quality, you know, it may just well be they have better things to do than film it.

As I said, tone the skepticism down. Most things aren't lies. Well, unless your Russian then almost everything is.

Mate, not sure why you seem to be on my ass, when from day one I've been team #ukraine. WTF mate, thought you were one of the decent ones on this site.

And just because we're with the Ukrainians doesn't mean we still can't ponder or exercise rational thought on the news coming out of that warzone. Tone down my skepticism? What in the fuck. Read through my all my posts and then say it again. And who the fuck are you to tell me what I should do or post? Holy shit at your gall.
