Great, now unless you can tell me that what they were on wasn't a PED that might be relevant.
One of them was oxycodone.

Wasn't that Venus (auto-immune disease), or did Serena have something too?
I was kinda hoping the harsh stance towards Russia and doping would result in a backfire like this. Always suspected most top level sporters are involved in doping and thought it's hypocritical to point the fingers at Russia.
I'm not saying anyone did anything wrong until more information. That being said if some quack Doctor gave Simone some BS medical condition to let her take PEDs then I consider that cheating. If she has a medical exemption for allergy meds then no harm no foul.
If you want to assume they're doping with zero proof and/or that the governing bodies of the Olympics and professional tennis are in on it that's your prerogative, Sharapova. Keep fighting the good fight.Great, now unless you can tell me that what they were on wasn't a PED that might be relevant.

So they had access to the whole database and released exactly three files?
Seems like a good way to make something innocuous and common look scandalous.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) has condemned Russian hackers for leaking confidential medical files of US Olympic athletes.
Athletes affected include tennis players Venus and Serena Williams and teenage gymnast Simone Biles.
If people could get some "quack doctor" to sign off on PEDs and all you had to do was disclose it, everyone would do it.
🤔🤔🤔Hmmmm strange why these 2 was targeted..I wonder what they have in common

Russia's track and field team were banned from the Rio Olympics over an alleged state-backed doping programme. All of its athletes are barred from the ongoing Paralympics.
"Let it be known that these criminal acts are greatly compromising the effort by the global anti-doping community to re-establish trust in Russia," Wada director-general Olivier Niggli said.
US Anti-Doping Agency chief Travis Tygart called the hack "cowardly and despicable".
"In each of the situations, the athlete has done everything right in adhering to the global rules for obtaining permission to use a needed medication," he said.
The US Olympic Committee has had "zero adverse findings from the Rio Olympic Games that weren't 100% within the medical guidelines set forth by anti-doping authorities," spokesman Patrick Sandusky said.
Earlier this month, Mr Niggli said Wada was experiencing almost daily cyber attacks originating from Russia.
Fancy Bears, which is also known as Tsar Team (APT28), has pledged to release confidential records from other national Olympic teams.
They also hacked Elena Delle Donne, but Serena, Venus, and Simone are going to get more clicks.
Doesn't sound like they did anything nefarious as athletes
Serena is my fav
🤔🤔🤔
Obviously, white people don't do doping, duh.

Cause they live strong
I read them both - there was one mention of a treatment for ADHD (which, again, is perfectly fine and allowed as long as you follow proper protocol) and nothing else. So I'm wondering where you're seeing this supposed proof.I mean, the proof is the article. Unless you are saying that the leak is illegitimate, which is fine and might be the case.
Except they weren't the only two who were targeted, rather the ones being used as examples because they're the biggest names. I was trying to figure out what all the posts on the first page were going on about, but then I remembered a lot of people don't actually read the articles posted.
2 vs 22
How is Serena ever going to keep up?
I guess that's my fault for just reading the NYT article and not the BBC one as well.<sigh> read the article people.
I find it funny people actually buy this. That these "conditions" are so severe and legitimate yet they can somehow compete as world-class athletes in the mean time as long as you give them the a-ok to use illegal drugs.
You don't have a clue of what you're talking about. Being a world-class athlete does not mean your body is invulnerable to any and all conditions.
I mean, the proof is the article..
So people with a medical condition are allowed to have an advantage over those who don't? That's nice.
I believe if you have ADHD the drug does not quite have the same effect on you as it does on a healthy person. So people with a medical condition are allowed to have an advantage over those who don't. That's nice.
If Simone was taking oxycodone, as a gymnast I would consider that cheating. The pain and recovery in gymnastics is insane and being able to take that would be a huge advantage. Like I said though I will not pass any judgement until its public knowledge what she was taking and I am not going to look at her medical records.
Just find a doctor that will say you have a condition and there you go.
ADHD - that life threatening disease that require medication in time for Olympics.
If everything is legal doesn't make it also fair or moral.

These have been the rules for years, if not decades, and they're the same for everyone.ADHD - that life threatening disease that require medication in time for Olympics.
