Still having problems with getting all that loot into a shop?
Going into a serious firefight and need a wheelbarrow to carry all that ammunition?
Dont want to install the weight mod because it feels like cheating?
Well, your problems are over! Just use the steps below:
1)Kill a bad guy
2)Loot to your hearts content
3)Put the excessive loot into the bad guys corpse
4)Press Shift-F while looking on the corpse to drag it around
W00t! I sneaked into the military building but got a bug where I made a quickload and the alarm kept ringing so killed every single military guy in the area. It also helped that they stayed close to the entrance, a good grenade killed 6 at once.
Also shooting at longe range can be done, just takes a few more bullets to hit.
I had the same issue, what it is, is that the game spawns you and when it does you make the landing noise on the ground which alerts everyone. Such a horrible mission. I ended up killing the patroling guard around the building with the briefcase and then two of the sleeping guards and then just taking the other two out as they wouldnt go back to bed afterwords.
I spent like 2 hours trying to get it perfect. I didnt even notice the tree downed on the fence for the first 50 or so minutes :lol
No real spoilers here but:
Im at the Army Warehouse now. Theres a mission off to the left of the starting point where you have to clean a town out of Blood Suckers. Pretty creepy at night, and hot damn are they fast! I got a video up of it, its pretty short and clocks in around 50MB. You'll need an x.264 decoder ( http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm install this and select H.264 in the decoding options )
and its superb. I was debating for a while which faction to join and I ended up not joining either. However, I did
kill the sniper with a knife so that noone would know I did it
and then met with Skull to begin the raid. I just sat back and let them kill each other and then collected all the weapons.
Afterwords I went to the Freedom mission man and told him of the raid (which had already happened) and told him I took care of the Duty guys already (even though THEY did). He was fooled and I got the bounty, freedoms respect, and duty's respect :lol
I have a special SSP-99M suit which thus far has been the best in the game. You can get it by -- MAJOR SPOILER --
retrieving Ghosts healing armor when coming out of X16
and then taking it back to the scientists in the mobile lab. He will have a mission for you to retrieve
Ghost's armor
and will give you this suit in its place which is much better.
The first real bug I cant get around is, at Agroprom complex I got an unsolicited mission to protect the base from the bandits. i did, and won. I then went into the underground to meet
Doctor
and upon exiting, I was tasked with taking out the Bandits base at Agroprom. Except I killed every damn bandit in sight and I can never complete it. Ive gone around the whole map and there are no bandits. Ive even left, and then came back killing every group I can find and still nothing. So that'll be my first mission failed which really sucks :\
Also, does anyone else still have "Wolf's Scouts" or whatever as a target from the first damn eliminate bandits mission? The damn things still there on the guys corpse :lol

God damn it! I was thinking of that (in desperation and frustration) back at that secret lab when I had to decide between carrying the new guns and leaving the two RPG launchers and my shotgun stuff. Grrr... Great find, though. :lol

Here's the db unpacker if you're not satisifed with the color of the trader's eyebrows or whatever. Also found a mod preventing the armor from degrading. And a mod increasing the weight limit. You can easily edit the max weight to whatever you want.
While my buckshot-firing sniper machinepistol is fun and all, I'm thinking it just might ruin the game. So I'll just stick to the above two modifications.

The game is crazy good, but damn, sometimes it is also borderline broken.
·I have to find some dude's family rifle, yet the sucker won't show up on the location indicated by the map. Apparently that's because I already got the reward
(a rather awesome protection suit, I believe)
during a different mission, escorting a doctor.
·Every time I visit the wasteland I have to fight some bandits at the very same places. Always. Those are impromptu missions I didn't ask for, yet I have to endure (I don't want to fail more missions) Even worse, I have to come back to the first area to pick up my shitty reward.
·Kill the mutants/wild dogs missions - For some reason they won't end even after I kill every single living being on sight.
·The interface is shit. Dear developers, I'd like to know the bulletproof grade of all my armor. I'd also like to unload my weapons from the buy/sell screen, not to mention the fact that a fully loaded rifle with a scope shouldn't cost the same as a crappy, unloaded, vanilla one.
Yet it is still so awesome. Like Diablo in first person with guns. I am constantly looting and dragging worthless crap to the bar because it is that fun. Maybe some day, you know, I'll start following the real objetives.

No, really, it is not like they are there and I have to fight them, the shop keeper calls me and tells me to protect a bunch of stalkers from a bandit rush. If I don't, I score a "failed mission" It is pretty retarded.
So I have to deal with this snitch however..when I go to the cabin where he is, hes being attacked by dogs. They kill him if I dont help him, and I get mission failed. However if he spots me he attacks me.
Im told to wait for his contact to arrive but I waited quite a long time and he dies via dogs (who somehow got INTO his cabin)
Edit: Ah, Ok figured it out. The game did bug up, If your stuck:
Go up the road a bit more and kill all the Mercs. one of them is the guys he talks with, so kill all of them and then go back and kill the snitch if it tells you.

You'd better learn to ignore them, since they'll come up at really inopportune times throughout the rest of the game. And if you're that bothered by failed missions... this probably isn't the game for you.

Actually I love the game. It is just that I am a bit of a completist. Speaking of, the whole family rifle thing is getting on my nerves. Where the **** is it?
The map tells me that it is near this area
I should be pointing at it (I believe)
However, there's nothing on the floor or over the roofs, and the lockers contain nothing of real interest (just a secret stash with some junk). I've used the flashlight to see if there was something under the cabins/wagons and I can't find a single thing. Any clues?
every time i get into this game it manages to piss me off beyond belief. It has a very Deus Ex feel but its just not as fun imo. I got to the place surrounded by Garbage, helped these guys in a warehouse kill some bandits then walked up north but the guys wouldnt let me pass, then i realised I was supposed to go back to the warehouse I was in and head west, so I get there, head out the back of the warehouse and am greeted by over 7 enemies with high powered, incredibly accurate rifles. Even my own high powered gun which has a tiny amount of ammo cant match the accuracy of the AI. Makes me want to punch the devs..

Just don't pull your hair out if you complete a mission and it still shows up on your to-do list. That and important NPCs just love to get themselves killed before you show up. The game's buggy like that.
And the mission objective is actually below you. Look for a tunnel nearby. Just watch out for nasties.

About that family rifle mission, I did it and now a few hours later he wants me to do it again, except the rifle is already in his posession. So i can complete it...Same thing with the Duty rifle guy right behind him.
Also Im getting some major crashes now when the Duty guys at the Lab in Yankar fight with anything. Im trying to complete some sales and the damn game keeps crashing when they start shooting at something -_-
Oh God, the rifle was actually a sawed-off shotgun that was inside of a container located in *that* tunnel I've raided twice because I couldn't carry all the cool artifacts there were over the place. I thought it was a crappy gun someone left there and I forgot about it, because I was looking for an actual rifle, maybe something elaborated, anything but a POS shotgun.

You guys may find this interesting if you re-created user.ltx after installing patch 1.0001
This line in user.ltx :
cam_inert 0
controls crosshair "lag" - it was set to 0.7 by default in patch 1.0001 and caused a noticable delay in crosshair/mouse responsiveness.
Also most of my crashes apparently are related to me setting the texture setting all the way up (it uses something like 544megs of video memory at max texture settings). Tuning it down a notch made the crashes go away for the most part.
(edit) the crashes may have something to do with full dynamic lighting and/or texture sizes not liking my videocard.

Yeah, it's definitely a gem. I haven't beat it yet (started over with the patch), but it's one of the best games I've played in the past five years. Playing through portions of the game a second time made me realize how opened-ended it really can be, even if some of the areas are fenced off. And A-Life (or whatever it's called) rocks. I like how you can never really "clear" an area. To me, that makes things so much more alive...and interesting.

I'm gonna give that "mouse lag" setting a looksee, as I got the game after the patch came out and only played it with patch installed. I never felt there was something wrong with the aiming, though.
As for the game itself, yowza its a blast. I get a Diablo vibe but obviously as a modern FPS. I am playing this with a laptop, and I would love to get a nice desktop to play this from, but seeing as this is a Vista/Directx10 transition period that'll have to wait. I've seen screenshots of dynamic lighting in action and playing this in static is somewhat annoying.
I'd REALLY love to see this done on next-gen consoles. Come on THQ... this shit would sell bucketloads on the 360 (or PS3 with mouse/kb support).
Holy cow, those screenshots are awesome in that thread.
I'm having a blast with Stalker on my laptop but man, seeing those screens really make me want to upgrade my desktop this year... especially with Crysis coming out too.
Here are a few of the nicer pics I grabbed. I have to run in 800x600 with medium settings to get a playable framerate with ODL on, and it's not even that playable, I just can't go back to static lighting. I think I had bloom turned on here.
Just finished the game, and it's one of my favorite FPS experience since F.E.A.R. Normally, I remove games once finished, to reinstall them months later, but I just feel like replay though it again and doing all the missions that I missed.
I experienced one weird bug in the last stairs before
meeting the wish granter
. The enemies were all in this room and they were going one by one though the door, and I shot them in the head one after another. I didn't encountered an enemy after that :lol
I didn't want to use any mod to increase weight though, fells like cheating, is there any private stash that we can use? Aside from dead people, something like the chests in Resident Evil.

I didnt realize that boxes could be smashed until hitting X16 :lol
A word of warning for Duty mission do-ers:
Poker Bandit mission is bugged. The spot where your supposed to find the guy (underground in the ..angroprom complex) is wrong. Hes not there and only a target maker is. The mission is impossible to do.
Can anyone tell me if finishing the Freedom quests to the end gains you anything? Im at a point where I have to kill a LOT of Duty guys and that would certainly turn them from friendly to hostile in the future....so..is it worth it?
So I noticed just now that S.T.A.L.K.E.R is thirty bucks at Amazon.com with free shipping... Should I pick it up? I usually don't spend more than twenty dollars on a game (since these days I tend to lose interest in most games fairly quickly and also I'm cheap, lol) but I've kinda had my eye on this game for a couple of years now. I'm kinda worried the game won't run too well on my laptop (3Ghz P4, nVidia 6800 Go, 1GB ram) and with it being really buggy and all... What do you guys honestly think, is it worth it? Should I go ahead and pick it up or wait for them to patch it up a bit more?

The game will run just fine on that system with static lighting. $30 is a good price I think. I have a love/hate relationship with it, it's incredible at times and buggy hell the rest of the time. I say buy it and if you don't like it, eBay it.
