Sadness uses same engine as Oblivion? :O :O

I've always maintained two things:

1. Chances are it's completely fake;

OR

2. If it is real, the game is going to be absolutely horrible.

soooo, guess I'll just stick with number 2 now.

whatever gets you through

well should we now start directing all the nibris hate towards them?

Yes, GAF hating gets things done it seems and they appear to be taking on a lot more than Nibris so theyll need all the hate they can get.

I'm just glad they were hyping up their game a year before they had even chosen an engine to build it on. It makes the wait worthwhile.

I'll be quite happy to be "owned" if this game does end up seeing a release, but I'll believe it when I see it.

well you cant say it'll be a low profile release, you cant buy the level of free publicity sadness has had

This whole thing is the greatest PR stunt ever. Now I really hope that this game (if it actually exists, I'm still not convinced) turns out to be some new kind of awesome.

This was supposed to go out tomorrow, but the cat is out of the bag so to speak. Some rocking news for Emergent!

So, yeah...they're really licensing it.

rakka said:
wait, the pr is now on emergent's site?

Yeah. The reason it wasn't there before is because it wasn't meant to be announced until tomorrow. But seeing as it went up on GamesPress, Emergent pushed it forwards too.

It's pretty much everywhere now, and Emergent's involvement makes it official, I'd say. I am flumoxed and flabergasted.

We need a thread title change, stat!

Well at least if Sadness is real, gets released, and makes nibris super popular and the new hot thing on the block, when they are receiving an award for outstanding innovation in a game title or something like that they will say "...yeah and SCREW THE HATERS WHO SAID WE WOULDN'T MAKE IT WHAT NOW BITCHES?" and GAF can collectively stand up and go "WOO! HATERS!" and pat themselves on the back for getting a shout out.

Well, I'll be... :lol

At the very least Nibris has an air of credibility now. I'm looking forward to how this pans out. I'm still mainly pessimistic, but hey, baby steps.

this thread is amazing. i can wait to see more, since i've been waiting, drinking the Kool-Aide all along, but this reaction is priceless. :lol

Are there any other announced Wii games that are using this engine?

I'd be interested to see how it looks on the Wii.

I doubt I'll get my dream of a Fallout 3 with pointer controls, but perhaps a side story or something.

As for Sadness, if it does get released (big if), I'll probably buy it out of curiosity alone.

What the fuck do we do now, GAF? Must we concentrate all our hate on Too Human?

When I see some screens and video of an actual game, then we can stop laughing. Until then, it's just a license.

It costs enough that you wouldn't want to license it just to perpetuate a joke.

As far as im concerned Sadness was confirmed to be real the minute this post went up.

Lets hope its a good game.

Didnt Matt say on last weeks podcast that Nibris wanted to meet with him to give him screen shots, obviously so IGN could have the exclusive reveal?

I thought it was that Matt once had an interview with them but Nibris was a no show?

Then again I'm missing out on the threads these days cause of the name change..

Nibris asked to meet Matt at GDC, but Nibris never showed up.

Could you imagine if Sadness actually gets released, and it turns out to be good? Like Eternal Darkness or REmake or Silent Hill 2 or Fatal Frame good?

My brain would fucking implode.

The more interesting thing about this is that a Wii game is using their engine. Are there any other Wii games that use it? What does this mean for porting other games on 360/PS3 to the Wii? I get the feeling that was the ultimate purpose of the press release, but I could be wrong about that.

I still don't believe it. They fooled me back at E3 and got me hyped only to make blunder after blunder and BS PR messages. Lets wait till E3 and see.

Truth. Nibris has been promising screens and footage for two years. The "screen" they released didn't look much like a game screen to me -- not so different from all the art they passed off before -- and licensing isn't getting anything done.

I love the idea for the game and it would be great if it DID come out and was awesome. But I'm still skeptical that anything is going to come of this. It would be easier to not scoff if they wouldn't keep making promises. Who wants to bet May comes and goes with nothing, after they promised assets?

I'd just go buy the damn game. On my side the hate was never personal it was just put up or shut up time. In fact this is the first time I've ever replied in a Nibris topic afaik. I have never had a problem admitting I was wrong. Being able to admit you are wrong is one of the most important things an individual could ever do. GAF's massive ego is it's biggest weakness especially the veterans here who would never admit they were wrong about the fate of a company, console and or game like for instance the success of the Wii and DS. Pretty sad to watch someone deny or ignore reality when it's smacking them right in the face.

Epic fail?

Are you guys retarded?

PhoenixDark: Don't post in the gaming forum, thanks.

Yeah, I don't see how it's "epic failure" to be a bit sceptic when it comes to this game actually.
