haha the guy who loses his shit in the comments is golden
I don't know. I'll do it myself to find what I like. Thanks though. How many seconds would you like? For reference, the entire gif is 4.1 seconds long.
Edit (literally):
An interesting read but it doesn't change my opinion much. Some of the logic is a tad shaky. Also that isn't really meant to apply to forums.
Forums are by their nature places for news and discussion, and one thing that article doesn't go into is the ability to use spoilers as a way to shut down discussion on demand and the toxic effect such a trigger has on a community when allowed free reign. You have people innocently posting normal things being shouted down by a vocal minority who exploit the reasonable person's willingness to be accommodating and considerate. It's an actual slippery slope as there's no end point to the claims. There's no point where you can't "err on the side of caution" further. An interesting read but it doesn't change my opinion much. Garbage. Watched a couple minutes and shut it off. Music sucks, drawings are meh, doesn't have that old feeling I loved about the original series.
I can't trust people's opinion on the new Sailor Moon
Speaking of which, I wonder if Viz will use the same dub cast for the original SM and Crystal?
They've already confirmed that will be the case.Speaking of which, I wonder if Viz will use the same dub cast for the original SM and Crystal?
So one more week of no new ep right?

Obviously some people do go over board to silly degrees, like the person stump was talking to. Yikes, that would be three episodes per year.Yeah, only one episode every 14th Saturday.
Yeah, only one episode every 14th Saturday. No episode this weekend, but next.
GAF
Is this streaming anywhere with Japanese subtitles?
I thought it could possibly have Japanese subtitles on NicoNico, for the Japanese hearing impaired or something. But NicoNico's Japanese Sailor Moon webpage blocks my US IP address.
Crunchyroll as usual
I'm not seeing Japanese subtitles on Crunchyroll. I only see English, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles on the Crunchyroll website.
I almost never use Crunchyroll, so I might not be looking in the right spot for them.

It's actually one episode on every first and third saturday of the month which means it will have two or three week breaks depending on the number of saturdays in a month.
wait why
Again, that's not entirely correct, it airs on every first and third saturday, which makes it biweekly most of the time but not always. August has five saturdays which means there will be a three week break between episodes on August 16th and September 6th. November, January, and May 2015 have five saturdays too, so we will have 4 three week breaks over the next year. The final episode should air on July 18th 2015 if there are no preemptions. The show is airing biweekly!
Oh my god, I just realized my English COMPLETELY failed there.
I meant every second Saturday, so two times a month! D:
Sorry to scare you with my previous post.

I find the two week breaks annoying, the three week breaks are going to kill me.
So I watched the first episode.
The Good:
The first episode was extremely faithful to the first episode of the original manga.
The Bad:

As much as I loved this show as a kid... it's just really hard to stomach as an adult. There's no way I could of sat through that without the whole nostalgia factor.
Fixed.
The story will get more serious by the 6th episode or so. We don't know if it will follow the manga 100%, but it's definitely not going to follow the previous anime.
It was... okay. Not nearly as bad as I was braced for it to be, but not nearly as good as it deserved to be.
Logically, no group of reincarnated thousand-year-old wizards should care how some committee (that has never personally been to the site) decided to classify the land where their castles currently stand.
"Oh, Mr Wizard? You say your castle is on twelfth street? That just can't be possible, because it says right here in my survey guide that twelfth street is a commercial district."
*Wizard performs a mind crush on the bureaucrat and goes home to hang some tapestries*
Really, really liked the first episode. But, on a somewhat different note, is this whole reboot aiming to cover the entire manga from start to finish? Cause even if they get rid of the inanimate object turned into the monster of the week filler that the OG anime had, at 2 episodes per month, this is gonna be a very long-term project no?
No, there are 60 chapters (originally 52), so just over 2 years if they keep at the same pace.
Wow, Jadeite's not gonna get much development is he?
Heh, one amusing development of this show coming out is all the people who will discover that the "filler" in the old anime actually isn't.
Cardcaptor Sakura's anime version was good. There's even less need to change anything about it or do a reboot than there is with Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon is episodic magical girl, not sentai. It doesn't take itself as seriously and isn't as concerned with the same themes and issues.Oh come on, I can admit there was good stuff in there, but let's not pretend there wasn't a huge chunk of filler in a SENTAI show.
Luna had the voice of old lady with weird accent
Well to be fair, Japanese Luna sounds like a nagging old lady. I really like the new voice in Crystal for her!
Uh... original Luna had a high voice too.
Keiko Han Luna?Well she didn't sound young at all.
I didn't remember what the episode 20 was about so I youtubed (is it a verb yet?) it and watched the American version. I think this was the first time I watched US version of Sailor Moon and damn, the voices were bad. Luna had the voice of old lady with weird accent, Nephrite sounded as if he had throat cancer (isn't he supposed to be 19 years old?) and Zoisite was turned into woman (wtf?). Also, what's the deal with those weird transitions between scenes and the lesson from Sailor Moon about being good and not judging people based on their appearances and actions at the end of the episode?
Sailor V still looking cute in her cameo.

Completely disagree.
I don't watch a lot of anime now, but I did back then. And whenever I think of "Early 90s anime where the English dub was actually better than the original" Sailor Moon is one of the first to come to mind. The orginal English voice cast was stellar, and primarily because the voices chosen fit the character and not the archetype that character filled.
Luna is the best example of this. The original Japanese voice for Luna is exactly what you'd imagine if someone asked you to imagine what a "cute talking cartoon cat" would sound like. In that sense, it's perfect. However, the English dub fits more to Luna's role in the story. Luna sounds like a nagging old lady because...well, she IS a nagging old lady. She's the adviser and guardian of the sailor scouts, especially tasked with mentoring Sailor Moon, the brattiest of all the scouts. Making her sound like a British nanny was, in my opinion, genius.
Likewise, I loved how confident Ami's English voice is, not just one-tone meek sounding. And I especially love how Serena's season 1 English voice knew how to tap into Serena's hidden intelligence. She knew exactly when to not make her sound ditzy, and I loved how she actually made her voice deeper the few times we heard her as the Moon Princess.
All around, I think the English dub just nailed it. In fact, it's the only anime series to come from that period that I think did nail it with their English dub.
Okay so:
An inability to let quiet moments speak for themselves(instead they're replaced by needless filler dialogue), really lame attempts at emulating the way American teens spoke, changes in dialogue that actively screw up the intentions of the characters.
Amara's VA... also cousins.
I don't even know.
Serena's second VA.
So Naru was supposed to be a total airhead who could barely speak right the whole time instead of a relatively well off and intelligent girl? Also, Ami is a character who struggles with her own insecurity. She is not meant to be confident.
I've seen an old dub episode recently. It's absolutely shit. Nostalgia is a lie.
