Had my first encounter with the weird Prof. Genki imposter. I shot him so many times that I figured he was invincible, so I ran away because he was scary. Find out later he's worth $300,000 and extremely rare to boot. Damn.

I killed him on sight last week and the $300,000 definitely made the game a cakewalk for a bit.

Well I start playing this game over the weekend. It's really fun and over the top, but some sections I would think would be fun aren't as fun as I thought they would be. One instance of this is the predator missile, it was fun to use in Modern Warfare 2, but for some reason it felt lackadaisical here.
Keyboard and mouse was impossible to try and drive with. I started using a controller.
Also having just used the attack chopper to take down a gang location, I don't think I'm ever going to do those without an attack helicopter again.

You have to run over his body to get the money he drops. I found him twice and got 300K each time.
Achivement wise, the only thing that seems noteworthy is the challenge for taunting 50 gang members. Try to get that before clearing all the strongholds.

I may need to write an Epic Poem in order to express how much I love this.
I found the quickest way to do it was restarting a mayhem activity close to a Friendly Fire. It took longer than I wanted to spend doing it, but I eventually got it. Game is now 1000/1000 and I am extremely ready for Genkibowl VII.
None of the achievements become more difficult directly, but a few of the challenges do. Any challenge that requires killing or interacting with an opposing gang becomes much more time staking. Mainly I just think these are the specialist kills and the taunts challenge.

Eh, you're probably right, the pacing is fine as it is. A character growth system is pointless when you can just buy all the upgrades as soon as they're unlocked.
Found Kaneda's bike from Akira. I know everyone else has found one by now, but I'm new to this and little stuff still amuses me. =)

Is there a way for your followers to put away their guns and just melee people when I do? I remember in SR2, your followers would equip themselves on the same level you did. If i went melee they would too. Now they always shooting everything all the time. Its annoying.

About to pick this up, so for clarification, all new copies come with the season pass and all (most?) DLC is free to those with the season pass?

They were talking about this on the 8-4 Play podcast with Cheapy D a few weeks ago. Apparently when if you kill him he drops the second most amount of cash in game (after Genki) that amount being the amount that he paid to get into the game. Kinda a nice touch.
Unfortunately not, the season pass is something everyone has to buy separately (unless some versions come with it extra?) and it gets you the three upcoming major DLC plus two outfits and two vehicles, all the current DLC you have to buy separately.

All the new copies come with an Online pass, and PS3 owners who bought new get SR2 for free for a limited time. The Season Pass is a separate thing, you get the big 3 DLC packs for a one time, cheaper $20 fee. You still need to buy the other DLC stuff if you want it.

Seems a bit steep. Mayhaps I'll wait for the eventual GOTY edition...tho I do want to see just how fuckin' insane SR3 is. I've enjoyed the SR series way, way more ever since they first came up compared to GTA4.PC Download (should work with steam, mentions steam as a min requirement)

It depends on the mod, if it's just a skin re-placer, it should be fine. Otherwise you'll both need the same mod from what I've read.
I just got the game during the last Steam sale and had a few questions. Is there any way to do custom soundtracks while driving in game? My game seems to freeze everytime I launch it in DX9 for the first time, then I have to log off and relog in and it will work. Also when I try to launch it in dx10/11 it just says that it stops working. Any fixes to either of these problems?
When one of your missions is to do an activity-type thing, is that literally one of the activities already in the world? My next mission from Kinzie was supposed to be a Heli Assault mission, but I did a random Heli Assault activity out in the world, and now her next mission looks like a real mission.
I've mostly been doing activities all over the place and buying all the stores/locations to increase my income. Once I get rolling in the story missions, is there any particular order I should try to do it, or does everything pretty much work out the same no matter what?

I think last night when I checked I was sitting at ~38 hours in and the only thing I have to do is about 17 vehicle theft challenges. I had a couple challenges take me a while, like respond to 27 or so of the gang challenges. I would run around forever waiting on the cell to ring so I could get one. But I will have 1000/1000'd it, unlocked everyone and everything, and will be ready for the Genki/CheapyD stuff. Just need to get the Season Pass now.

I've used a 5850 and later a 560 Ti and I still get the same problem. Every 2 minutes or so the screen freezes for about 5 seconds, but I can still hear audio. It's pretty much unplayable.
Same here. Screen freezes, audio still plays.....crash.

Okay, I played for about an hour this morning, no crashes, awesome. BUT, my fps is hideous, even though I should be able to play this on high, no problem (it defaults to that too). Even if I put everything on low, it doesn't go higher than 30fps, and it will drop to the low 20s when driving fast.
Tried that, instant system crash.
Been playing all day, having a lot of fun. But fuck me my fps is super low for no reason. I'm on 12.1 preview drivers, thinking of having RadeonPro use different drivers for this game. Nothing I'm doing in game has an effect on my fps, even putting all settings on low.
It's very frustrating, and is constantly bothering me. Can't just relax and have fun. Doesn't leave a good impression for me.

There's a huge thread on SR3 & Steam forums about the crappy AMD/ATI performance. It's down right sad. But I'm still playing regardless of the poor in vehicle performance.
I haven't had problems with AMD/ATI drivers in the past, but during the lifetime of my 5770, I've experienced so many issues with their drivers.
