Still on the fence between the Note 4 and the LG G3.
I have a Galaxy S4 now and I can't say that I'm sick of it or I can't stand it anymore. So I'm looking to go for something that is significantly better. Going with the G3 would be just for the sexy look and the .5" bigger screen. But I'm not completely convinced that getting a .5" bigger screen is enough "change" for me.
So that leaves me with the Note 4. I can't think of a million things I'd like to do with the pen, but I'm on my phone now a ton. Maybe I will love it, I love messing around with things and spending time on my phone, so that may be the "change" i'm looking for in a new phone.
I dont know, just some inner monologue here, but I'm leaning towards the Note 4.
Mine's really good. Very close to the G2 if not around the same. But this also depends on the version I think. Some people seem to have bad battery life. I personally can get around 20 hours of battery life with about 4-5 hours screen time.
will be using my note 3 for another year i think..
my note 2 never dropped my pen.. but on my note 3, the pen lose itself, and ive been searching under the seat of my car x times now. since the pen drops from the phone
really hope they made the pen stay better on note 4 =)
that edge design looks pretty cool though, but i wonder how it actually works it your hands. 160pxs seems too small to do anything actually useful besides just a simple app launcher or date/time thing. and the sides of your fingers might hit something on the side if you're holding it with two hands
I'm continually amazed at how ugly Samsung can make a phone both by physically and UI wise. My workmate just got a Nexus 5 and I'm stunned at how incredibly nice looking it is compared to my rather nice looking One X, which already makes my mom's S4 look like crap.

I know I'm going to be leading the Leather Back Defense Force for the next few weeks.... but I felt the "NEW" Galaxy Alpha leather back (that this has) and it feels great. Much better than the Galaxy S4/S5 and Note 3.

Is it weird that - more than anything else - I'm glad they decided to color the aluminum frame on the black model to better match it? I mean, I could do without the shiny frame period, but I do think making it darker helps the aesthetic of the black version.

Is it just me, or does the back look more like the BB Bold's old leather backing and less like the S5's? I like the look, even though it has historically not looked great coming from Samsung. Thank god they've improved.
And I for one prefer a physical/off screen button.
In the case of the edge, they might actually have solved some of their left handed issues with on screen buttons. Sammy have done really well with the Note 4, I'm genuinely impressed in a way I haven't been since probably the S2.
If they insist on keeping with buttons, they need to put them in the right order (Back > Home > Multitask) and go full capacitive. No idea why they still insist on that physical home button, which is a throwback to the iPhone.
I think I found my new phone in the note 4. Have a galaxy 3 right now and note 4 just seems amazing. Little worried about having a larger sized phone, but it is something I can get used to in order to get everything else the note has to offer. Still interested to see what apple will do next week, but I am 99% sure the note 4 is my next phone.

I don't see what the GN4 does that's so thrilling coming from a GN3... Am I missing something?
The most interesting 2 things to me the GN3 don't offer (Yet) are the Oculus Rift compatible headset and the Ultra Low Power mode (Both things that could easily come to the GN3 via software update)
People complain that it's slow and/or laggy. A complaint I honestly haven't seen make sense, since the Galaxy S4. Most complain because it looks too different and often delays the handsets getting updated Android versions.
I use an S3 often and havent seen a problem. I even use the stock launcher. Only thing I disabled was S-Voice and a few other auto-startup Samsung services. The fact that you'd have to spend a minute to mess with settings to do that often disgusts phone purists.
It's slow to update than stock, has dozens of gimmicky features that no one uses, and comes with dozens of samsung apps that are shitty shadows of other better apps
It's not the worst skin...but it's not the best. It's hovering somewhere near that middle ground

Well for me, there are a few reasons. While my S3 is nice, the screen is cracked and I am due for an upgrade/contract renewal. Better camera, build quality, battery and a much better screen. Overall, it would be a nice step up from the S3.
Now my S3 doesn't seem like a dinosaur or anything like that. It actually runs well and if the screen wasn't cracked and I wasn't due for an upgrade, I could certainly wait a while to upgrade.

1) Subjective, but most agree that visually it's worse than stock Android. It's been given a makeover recently, so it's not as bad as it was.
2) Performance. The Touchwiz skin is notorious for slowing down Android. Noticeable frame drops, and sometimes taking a while to load apps such as the camera or gallery. Even to the point where UI performance on the flagship S5 has been trumped by low to mid range handsets. Hopefully Sammy has optimised the UI on the Note 4 so it may be a thing of the past. Reviews will let you know.
3) Delay in updating to the latest version of Android. Due to the sheer number of changes Samsung make to the Android framework it can take a while for updates to come to your handset of choice. Amongst OEM's Sammy are by no means the worst and are usually good (eventually) for supporting Android updates on their flagship phones. They have recently been put to shame by Motorola and obviously, Nexus phones.
4) Software bloat and gimmicks. Samsung tend to duplicate the Google Apps, in many cases for debatable value, with most inferior to the Google alternative, for example S Voice. Then there's gimmicks such as smart scroll (scroll using your eyes rather than your fingers). In theory sounds awesome, in practice it doesn't always work and isn't particularly practical. It's a case of Samsung throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. They can be disabled, but it does lead to the impression that their software execution can be shoddy.
I think that pretty much covers it. Much of this may be corrected in the Note 4, time and reviews will tell.
Ah, thank you kindly. Never used stock Android either (other than playing around on other's phones), so a lot of the stuff you're talking about I'm not familiar with. Thinking of jumping ship from ios to this though so I was curious. Thanks for the responses.
