Sen no Kiseki III Confirmed to be a PS4 exclusive title

What he said to Jusis was pretty great. Took me by surprise.

One of the strongest parts of this series is the writing aside from the typical imouto shit that drives me mad. I'm absolutely crazy about CS. And I'm glad you talked me into playing it.

Maybe this will mean that if McBurn
goes ALL OF ME
again the framerate won't get into the single digits.

I'm glad Falcom isn't being constrained by Vita hardware anymore if we don't have to deal with that now.

I like Rean. There are some things about Rean that I dislike, but he can give some pretty good speeches!

That's because Rean isn't a character. He is just the voice of the author driving the narrative. Helpful to everyone because that's how you can use him as a vehicle for quests, nice to everyone to justify the party sticking with him, the voice of reason when the story needs everyone to just do something together, the voice of doubt when the story needs ~drama~. There's nothing interesting about Rean. He's a sock puppet who does whatever needs to be written at the moment. Pathetic excuse for a protagonist.

lets pray that falcom is feeling generous and give the script to xseed early next year

so we have altina orion, alisa, rean, sara, 3 new characters

if we go to Cold Steel 2 with 11 playabe characters, then that gives 4 more new party members and the rest is guest

i think millium, jusis and machias will be guest members

I guess the winds aren't in Gaius' favor then. Nobody cares about him.

Scanning for lies. No lies detected. It would be great to see an improvement to this when part 3 comes around

Thank You!

While I've expressed my own disappointment with Rean for various reasons, this perfectly explains why. He's such a neutral and nothing character.

Dengenki details are leaking. From Kondo's interview in the mag, after graduation Class VII have all gone their separate ways, and Rean is still working under Osborne to find a new path for himself. The game will finally showcase Western Erebonia, including the previously mentioned Brittania Island where there is a giant statue like the one in Nord.

He also mentions that they're experimenting with seamless battle transitions now, where the battles take place on the same map as the one you explore. They're also trying to tie the Divine Knight into the battles as one part of various game systems, rather than having it feel exclusively like event battles in CS2.

Oh and he specifically says that some returning characters from Liberl will be -joining the party- this time. :)

Ugh, no. This sounds horrible.

Seamless battles usually lead to a lot of camera problems, I don't trust Falcom to pull it off where other developers have failed.
I really hate the Divine Knights in both Cold Steel games. Plus Cold Steel II already had too many different type of skills and other stuff mangled together. This sounds like they're adding more on top of it.

Is the protag dude of Zero as bland/self-inserty as Rean?

He's kinda like Rean but more cheerful and hot blooded. One of the things that made Lloyd more interesting is that he's doesn't have any special abilities so most of the time he make up plans before he gets into action. Also, the fact that he's not that powerful makes every member of his team feel important and it builds a sense of comradery.

I don't understand what sort of camera problems there can be when it's still a turn based RPG. How hard do you think it is to pull back or swing the camera after an encounter when the rest of the enemies appear? :p

As far as systems though, they're just going to keep piling on. Aside from every single system in CS2, they're added the Brave Order system and whatever else they haven't revealed yet with regards to Rean's individual powers and Valimar, and whatever.

Very happy for the PS4 call. I know some of you are unhappy but I'm a console gamer so upgrading from the PS3 versions of Cold Steel is great. Love the new visuals.

Oh, yeah. lol
Reading this immediately triggered the Zestiria alarm in my head. But I guess with turn-based battles this won't be as much of a problem.
But it'll still probably lead to wider corridors in dungeons to make every enemy fit in.

You've just made me decide to play trails of the sky series over playing trails of cold steel first.

I loved CS2 in spite of Rean, so I guess I'll be okay as long as the support characters and antagonists are good.

It's good that we finally get to see Western Erebonia, it was a bit annoying to see these parts always mentioned in back stories and as a war front, but never getting to visit it.

More than anything, I'm really curious to see where the story is headed, and if we'll see people from other games in the series.

Characters from the Crossbell games will be part of the story, characters from the Liberl games will also be in the story -and- some will be party members in the game. Kondo has been repeating the "we want to bring all the characters back in one big game" thing multiple times now. Last time he mentioned it before this announcement, he said that CS3 is the mid-point climax for Kiseki.

I'd play those games but the gameplay is so bad. I have the first game but I just can't bring myself to play it. I wish there was a mod that lets me skip the battles or something. CS on the other hand has a great battle system.

I personally dont think its bad, but it'd be really really hard to go back. Cold Steel's battle system is much better and more importantly, flows much better and moves faster.

This is a good decision.Cold Steel are good games still though but I consider Sky much better in terms of writing

Oh easily

Im not sure what happened in the transition but writing took a dive in CS

However after reading duckrolls enthusiasm upon finishing CS2 I am reinvigorated to move forward and finish it

There's a way to skip battles. Don't run into monsters.

I liked the battle system well enough but unskippable animations and the games rewarding you talking to everyone after events basically meant I ran cheat engine for a triple speed button to soothe my impatience.

He's just such a bland and generic hero character, it's hard for me not to feel completely indifferent about him. Well, maybe he does some cool stuff later in CS2, haven't finished it yet.

Characters look kinda meh, then again so did CS cast when it was revealed. Those ugly-ass uniforms...

Hopefully they completely redesigned Altina, the more realistic your game look, the worse the more "anime" getup look.

Strange decision to skip the Vita version, but I can understand them a bit, the Vita version of CSII has some serious slowdowns and long ass loading times.

Can't wait to play the localized version in 2020 :(
.
I played Trails SC last year, Cold Steel 1 this spring and I am playing Cold Steel 2 right now (off and on again like all Trails games, they all take an eternity for me to finish). Next year we will probably get Trails 3rd and I am pretty sure Xseed has at least plans for Ao & Zero's Steam versions. Enough Trails for me until Cold Steel 3 hits western shores.
