Serena Williams takes to tennis court in a designer tutu after her catsuit is banned

The guy just said the outfit was a disrespect to "the game". He really didn't explain how and why it's disrespectful though.
Kinda shocking considering how big she has been for the game. Sounds like cranky old people being cranky old people to me. Or a bunch of Eric Cartman's are in charge. Respect muh authoritie

Funny thing is......the catsuit is more athletic for a woman to wear than a mini skirt.

This outfit is similar to these

Ah. So the catsuit shows too little ass, and they are worried it will become a trend.

Yep! It shocked me too. It'll be like the NBA in the late 80s telling Micheal Jordan to wear shorter shorts that don't come pass mid thigh because long shorts are disrespectful to the game of basketball.

For example look at these comparisons

The controversy is in the fact that this is a NEW DRESS CODE!!! She didn't break the dress code. They are creating new Serena rules! They created this new dress code AFTER they saw her catsuit part II. How do people not understand this? And this catsuit was the 2nd best cat suit. She wore the Gold Medal cut suit like 14 years ago.

Then they are simply enforcing the traditional dress code, big deal. Would anybody would be making a big fuzz about this if it wasn't a black woman athlete who broke the dress code?

Maybe, maybe not. But don't forget that she's also the best woman tennis player in the world, so that has more to do with it.

Honestly, I'd say the shorter shorts look better. Even though the bigger ones are probably a lot more comfortable. And while I personally feel like it doesn't matter, sports traditionally have had various strict dress codes and you'll still see ridiculous ones today even, like this case or the handball ones in terms of color matching.

So? She's not bigger than the sport. And tennis associations want players to dress like tennis players. There are dress codes, deal with it. She did.

Functionally, that outfit makes more sense than skirts. They shouldn't hold her body type against her.

Should note that I don't find her attractive one iota. It just feels like her front and back humps offended some snooty rich dude's sensibilities.

Are you asking us to stop caring about the change of a dress code?

Another "incident" with Tennis a woman's clothing.

US Open chiefs on Wednesday said they were wrong to sanction French player Alize Cornet for removing her shirt on court, a bizarre warning which saw the tournament accused of sexism.
Cornet slipped off her shirt, revealing a black sports bra, after realising she had put it on back to front while off court during a 10-minute heat break before the third set of her first round defeat against Sweden's Johanna Larsson on Tuesday.
However, there was a storm of criticism for umpire Christian Rask's decision to issue a code violation to 28-year-old Cornet while male players were free to change shirts to combat Tuesday's 38-degree heat.
"All players can change their shirts when sitting in the player chair. This is not considered a Code violation," said organisers in a statement issued Wednesday.

"We regret that a code violation was assessed to Ms. Cornet yesterday. We have clarified the policy to ensure this will not happen moving forward. Fortunately, she was only assessed a warning with no further penalty or fine.
"Female players, if they choose, may also change their shirts in a more private location close to the court, when available. They will not be assessed a bathroom break in this circumstance."
The tournament was blasted for double standards over the Cornet incident, especially as it came just days after the French Open said it would ban Serena Williams from wearing her 'Black Panther' bodysuit again at Roland Garros.
"Alize Cornet came back to court after 10 minute heat break. Had her fresh shirt on back to front. Changed at back of court. Got a code violation. Unsportsmanlike conduct..... But the men can change shirts on court," tweeted Judy Murray, the mother of former world number one Andy Murray and a leading coach and respected voice in the sport.

Former Australian player Casey Dellacqua replied to Murray's tweet, saying the decision was "ridiculous".
The WTA sais the code violation handed to Cornet was "was unfair and not based on a WTA rule, as the WTA has no rule against a change of attire on court".
A spokeswoman added: "The WTA has always been and always will be a pioneer for women and women's sports. This code violation came under the Grand Slam rules and we are pleased to see the USTA has now changed this policy. Alize did nothing wrong."

Many on social media were quick to point out that just a few hours after the Cornet incident, Wimbledon champion and two-time US Open winner Novak Djokovic sat courtside on Arthur Ashe Stadium with his shirt removed and with an ice towel draped around his shoulders. Last week, French tennis federation (FFT) president Bernard Giudicelli sparked claims of sexism when he banned Williams's black body suit from next year's Roland Garros.
"You have to respect the game and the place," said Giudicelli who added there will be "certain limits" on clothing for the 2019 French Open

I've never understood why females insist upon playing tennis in a skirt. It is just so odd to me.

Eh, it leaves their legs free. The mini-skirt at least.

What I never understood is the pants length "shorts" that basketball players now wear. I get it, it's fashion, but I would think they would be hot and get in the way.

Hopefully Serena's tutu is banned and they make her wear baggy clothing instead. I'm sick and tired of seeing her disgustingly flabby arse and thighs corrupting my innocent eyes every year I watch Wimbledon. I swear the people operating the cameras are instructed to zoom in specifically on her lower half at all times during a match to try and make the viewers lose their lunch.

So you like skinny boy bodies?

Nothing about Serena is flabby. She's fit and after having a baby, she's more fit and STRONGER than probably you. And most women in the sport.

I mean let's be real, skirts just give a large majority of guys that tease appeal (extremely common in porn). Catsuit just goes straight for the jugular. It's just different tastes.

Acting like skirts are somehow more honorable garb is laughable. Not saying they aren't either, look at kilts.

I guess I just never realized Tennis had such a strict dress code. Where men wear bandanas and 70s shorts and women wear mini skirts common in every porno since the 70s. Just sayin'.

If a man can beat another man's ass in a speedo, or a woman can flog another woman in pasties and a thong, who cares? Why is a catsuit a big deal?

I don't think it's a matter of this or that, it's just dumb overall.

Might as well be pantsuits for everyone, or naked.

Maybe the French Open should take their name more seriously.

Dont get it personally. Shes a professional athlete competing in a sport that doesnt have any form of official outfit. She can wear what she wants, people can call it hideous if they dont like it, but its not like its exposing anything or pushing amy boundaries. Its the same sort of outfit you see in a lot of pro sports.

No reason it should be out of place the tennis court.

This one is just stupid. She made a mistake wanted to correct it and got penalized while men can change their shirts on open field with no problem whatsoever. She was not even naked she was wearing a sports bra something some people only wear in the summer XD

It is stupid, but I assume she got penalised for changing her shirt on the court, rather than on the sidelines. It’s the same for men.

US Open officials said all players could change their shirts when sitting in the player chair, adding that women could also change their shirts in a private location near the court if it was available without being assessed a bathroom break.

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-30/rules-for-taken-shirt-off-in-tennis/10181776?pfmredir=sm

A male would have got penalised just the same. It is a rule. A stupid rule, but a rule.

Jesus, this place needs full time fake news police with people claiming women get penalised for being women and women being “forced to wear mini skirts”.

It’s like some people are trialling for a job at CNN. (Not a shot at you Dunki)

Skinny boy bodies? So women who aren't fat look like men is what you're saying?

If I'm watching a sport with athletes who are in peak physical condition it isn't that far-fetched to expect them to at least look like they've been to a gym recently.

Nothing about Serena is flabby.

Those camera shots and slow motion replays tell a different story.

She's fit and after having a baby, she's more fit and STRONGER than probably you. And most women in the sport.

Obviously you haven't seen a Serena match. After the first few games she's already winded and starts slowing down. This eventually leads to Bambi mode when she pretends to be on an ice rink and starts slipping and sliding everywhere, trying desperately to slow the match down so she can have a breather. At this point her opponent's could easily run her off the court if she didn't hit the ball back so hard.

Shortly after Bambi mode commences she will then start yelling after every point to try and get the crowd to start clapping so the players have to wait for them stop before the next serve. All so she can have more time to rest.

Yikes she really let herself go. Her legs rival Yao Ming's tree trunk legs.

Those are just strong\thick legs. She didn't let herself go. She also just had a baby.

She obviously has muscles but she's also quite overweight, especially so for an athlete. She probably has a very high fat percentage, wouldn't surprise me if her diet isn't the best.

Come on, that is not from the same time frame, we are talking about her current form. Many athletes gain weight during injury or after time off periods. In the pictures from the game we are talking about, she's overweight and needs to lose some to get back to the shape she's in here.

Why are you feeling bad for women? Athletes have to be in great shape to compete, such a ridiculous statement.

Serena has always been chunky, but was also much more muscular than in those pictures, so she looked dominant in the court.

And well, I'm sorry but I don't know how having a baby is relevant to how she looks overweight performing her job. If she's not in shape to get back into the court, then she shouldn't.

And Rihanna is fat in those pictures, that's the truth. I don't know how shielding people from the truth is something to strive towards.

She lost in the Finals in the last Championship tourney, so how is she out of shape? Her ability is why she's back on the court.

No I didn’t. Read it again. The umpire adjudicated the rules correctly. The organisers of the US Open think it was “regrettable”, but it was following their own rules. The WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) is saying it was “unfair”.

The article itself lists the key points as:

Key points:
  • WTA says penalty for removing shirt not in its rulebook
  • US Open organisers say Cornet should have returned to her chair to remove her shirt
  • Cornet was given a warning without penalty or fine
The WTA don’t make the US Open rules.

So what does this mean?

That's what I was talking about. The US Open seems to be saying they screwed it up.

They “clarified” the rules because of people like you screeching on the internet. In other words, they are changing the rules so it doesn’t happen again. They are doing the typical thing of responding to the backlash. The original rule was adjudicated correctly.
