Yeah this needs to happen! And add PayPal and the $10.000.000 is in the back after a few months.

Yu Suzuki, my friend. Do it.

are there many stats for how much games have collected from having a paypal afterwards? I could see it getting to 10mill if there's a huge bomb like sega announcing 1 an 2 HD but I wouldn't expect it to get millions of dollars through PP otherwise.

but hey I could be wrong, and i'd be happy if that were the case :)

IMPORTANT INFO FOR NEW PLEDGERS

1. Any pledge $60 or more allows you to choose between:

- PS4 Physical Copy
- PS4 Digital Copy
- Windows PC Physical Copy
- Windows PC Digital Copy

2. You will get an email after the Kickstarter ends asking which of the above versions you would like.

3. Any pledge $80 or more gets you the S3 World Telecom phone card.

4. Changes to the reward tier text on the right side of the screen are not allowed after someone has pledged at that tier. Please consult the tables below for accurate reward info.

For a given price tier, you get all the rewards with black icons, while you choose 1 of the items with blue icons:

I'm in for $100. I still have fond memories of playing Shenmue on my Dreamcast hooked up to my vga monitor. I've never finished part 2 but I guess I need to get on it now. This has been a great time for kickstarter recently with Bloodstained fulfilling the dream of a full console version of an Igavania game for the first time since 1997 also.

If this has been asked before sorry but if I pledge $5 after its over will I be able to up my pledge later to the higher tiers through backerkit?

I think the biggest thing to be gained by post-Kickstarter funding is having a dedicated Japanese funding page. I'd imagine a lot of Japanese people have been put off by the fact the Kickstarter payment system is only in English. Over 40k people watched the niconico stream so there is certainly potential for a lot more backers.

There is no official way to pledge any money at all after it is over. They might set up a system to do so, but it would be outside of Kickstarter, and they may have different rules or pledge levels or whatever. Very few Kickstarters ever keep taking pledges afterwards.

For what it's worth though they were considering it. But it's by no means assured.

Just went from 30$ to 100$. Just to make sure, I will get a physical version on PS4 and the trial on PC right? Also get the telecom package as well?

Great stuff so far.

I predicted 6-6.5m when it started with 7.5m being the top end if everything went perfect. Was wondering if Sony may stump the rest if it reached 7.5.

Makes me sick to think how much more this would have got it they announced Xbox One support. Still, $6 Million is a very good amount but I'll always wonder what we would have had in the game with all the stretch goals hit...

I'm in for the phonecard reward, anything higher than that isn't appealing under 500.

Less than 1000 posts left in the thread before we reach the GAF limit.

That would be a perfect close to an epic Kickstarter. The Kickstarter ends with a huge record-breaking amount (for a videogame) and reaches 20,000 posts on GAF to close the thread at a high.

Come on SEGA, me and my friend need Shenmue HD Collection so we can join the Shenmue III hype train!

After Kickstarter is over which is the best way to campaign so Sega brings out the HD versions?

I'd imagine all the current community efforts from Shenmuedojo/Teamyu etc. will transfer to hounding Sega each month for the HD ports with monthly tweetathons etc. :P

we're going to need a new thread long before the campaign is over. who's going to make it? shall we just copy and paste the op in this one with information about the tiers/ps4 physical being available for 60 and up?

Someone should absolutely make a thread specifically for hounding SEGA to give us Shenmue I and II HD in a few days time here on GAF. Strike while the iron is hot!

Do you guys think that Shenmue 3 is going to be in any way technically impressive?

The first two games, particularly the first, are always lauded as being ahead of their time in terms of graphics/scope. That kind of thing plays an important part of the way certain games feel.

I know it can't be the new Crysis but something about it's scale/scope/visual impression needs to have a "wow" factor in order to replicate the impact that the first games had, no?

Since you were the most active poster, I nominate you but yes we should include all that info.

We should do some consolidation while we're at it and a FAQ on top.
"SHENMUE III kickstarter |OT2| (PC/PS4) - FINAL DAY WE STILL HERE SON"

Just backed for the physical PS4 copy. I've always wanted to play through Shenmue I & II but never have gotten to it. I'm definitely going to before III is released for sure.

Makes me sick to think how much more this would have got it they announced Xbox One support.

Even if every single person who bought an Xbone in Japan last month played $100 it would add less than $20k to a value of $5.5+ million.

How many Shenmue fans that don't have a PS4 won't buy one for it or don't have a PC that will likely run it?

This is awesome! Leave for a couple hours and this motherfucker isn't slowing down! I'm at my limit right now. Got $600 on one account. $80 on another for PS4. $80 on another for PC! And finally $29 on a digital. $789...Totally worth it!

Loving this.

God bless you, ryo hazuki

Shenmue fans are really something else. I'm proud of you all.
I knew this game was special from the moment I played this game in 2000 on my beloved Dreamcast.
That feeling you get while playing Shenmue is (after 15 years!) still unsurpassed by any game.

You didn't play as Ryo Hazuki, YOU WERE Ryo Hazuki and the world was full of life. Unlike some open world games with braindead NPC's moonwalking all over the place.

I feel sorry for everyone who didn't own a Dreamcast with Shenmue back then.

Shenmue for life!!
