I can't remember a 3DS game in which I said:"Wow, it truly shows this console has 128MB of RAM!". Texture wise 3DS have been a dissapointment, lot's of games has PS2 texture quality...
Played New Leaf?
All the textures are pretty damn good.

The textures in Resident Evil: Revelations are definitely Xbox-level. Also, even if a 3DS game uses the same textures as a PS2/Xbox game, they won't look as good at a distance due to 240p vs 480p. A texture is a 2D image and the amount of detail you can display out of it will always be limited to the display resolution.
BTW, the PS2 had only 32MBs of RAM and the Xbox had 64MBs. The 3DS uses the same texture compression as the Xbox (the PS2 could only do 4-bit and 8-bit color textures).
All credit goes to xxbrothawizxx who compiled all of these:
Holy shit, get in my veins.
Please.
Is this ALL the 3DS screenshots? I was looking for a complete archive.
When I said PS2 textures I was thinking of this:

I don't know about texture compression and all, but seeing things like that is like PS2 is live and kicking on the 3DS...

The DS had slightly sub-N64 3D graphics. It actually looked more like PS1 with lower poly counts than both.

Your comparisson is worthless. Mario Golf was never a graphical showcase on the GC, unlike the 3DS version. We have games like Star Wars: Rogue Squadron or F-Zero that while lacks direct competitors on 3DS also shows the strenghts of GC over 3DS in some areas.
IMO, while RE:R looks really good it can't compare to Rogue Squadron greatness.
Edit: Also original Luigi's Mansion has so much better lightning compared to the flat one on the 3DS...

pretty sure that was just placebo effectAlso, it's framerate is much improved thanks to the 6.1 system update.

I agree. That particular shot looks worse than a lot of N64 games. 3DS seems more like a cross between N64 and Dreamcast for me.You're being pretty generous calling that ground texture PS2 level. It doesn't even properly blend in places, yikes. It looks like N64 textures with some shading effects applied.

PS2 or Dreamcast is a better comparisonLol. You should replay N64 games. BTW, After seeing games like Dead or Alive Dimensions, Kid Icarus Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations, EX Troopers, Castlevania or Smash Brothers, how can people seriously use N64 as a way of comparison for 3DS ?
I'm surprised at how good Arkham Origins Blackgate looks on 3DS.
It's stunning.
Also, Smash Bros. 3DS looks super clean.

Mmm, that difference.
3DS games don't look that bad, Jesus.3DS seems more like a cross between N64 and Dreamcast for me.
Honestly they should have made it a selectable option screen when booting up a DS or VC game.
"Do you want the game to take up the whole screen? (Image may appear softer)"
"Do you want to play the game at it's original resolution? (image will not take up the entire screen"
Tap which one you want.
It just feels like you're using some kind of exploit when you hold the select button as the game launches. Definitely not intuitive at all the way it is.
Ehh, that's a bit too optimistic IMO. I think the 3DS' poor early sales numbers will deter Nintendo from launching a handheld anywhere near, let alone over $200 for the foreseeable future. They'll probably try to put out a system that's still profitable at $150-170, and that would translate to something around the 360's power in 2017. For reference, the iPhone 5S' GPU pushes roughly 75 Gflops, still a far cry from Wii U's 350.Just to say, it's not implausible to expect next Nintendo handheld to be stronger than Wii U, by a good amount (especially on the RAM front).
Man... why has nothing released on 3DS since Resi Revelations even come close to matching it graphically?
Man, the low-res screen is making people say some strange things. Comparisons to N64 and Dreamcast? You guys must either have been playing the wrong games on the system to say things like that, or not own one at all. I don't see any other explanation.
MH3G, MH4.
It's gorgeous. They have that running at 60fps with AA? Crazy!
Is this going to be a Retail Game or a eShop Game?
Curse Nintendo for keeping the resolution of the 3DS so puny.
I've said this many times, but I'd rather they just ditched the home console and made their portable more awesome. Why compromise on both?

I guess I'll have to wait for direct-feed screenshots and gameplay footage before praising the visuals too much, but I love it when I get more ammo for 3DS graphics arguments.
I wish the Wii U version looked like that. It feels like they are wasting resources by making two Smash games instead of one that can work with both systems (like PSASBR and Sly Cooper on PS3 and Vita). Maybe I'll eat crow when they are released though.
VD-dev said that on October 28th they will release technical info and a trailer.![]()
