I am considering getting one for around 200 euros, so I can play all Og xbox and 360bc titles in enhanced mode

Yes or no?

Yes.

I love the Xbox One, and the X is the most awesome model. If you want to put in a game and play instead of messing with drivers and bios and all that jazz, the console is the answer. GTA 5 and everything runs butter smooth. No bullcrap jitters and such.

You should see the One X on an 70" or bigger OLED at 4k, holy crap, it's divine..

I don't game on PC's - it's way too expensive to keep up with the Jones', But a One X for only 200 quid is damn good. How much is a good video card? oh, 700? Yeah, you get the point... It gives you high end PC performance for budget price, and it's compatible with most all your 360 games!

I wouldn't spend money on a dead console. The XSX and XSS can play even more games than the X1X and in many cases at a higher frame rate and resolution. If it was free or if they paid you to take it I'd grab the X1X.

If you are getting it for the OG and BC games, I would honestly just spend the extra 50/70 for the Series S.

- Quick Resume when it works
- much snappier loading times
- possiblity of running new indies that has that nostalgia

The one issue could be one x enhanced games, I also am not sure if any of the og/360 games will get frame boost but it going to be limited to the series consoles.

No. Absolutely not. Buy a XSS instead. You don't want your games limited by the Jaguar CPU. You'll get more games running at 60fps and when they stop releasing games on XOX, you'll still have games releasing on XSS for many more years.

Well in that case he is going to play games on shitty resolution, even the old ones. I don't think it's worth it.

I would say go for it OP.

I love my One X, i've had a Scorpio since launch and i'm still using it everyday. It's still the best looking Xbox. However I had to vote No.

It's still getting new games for the most part but I don't know how long that's going to last. You're better off putting your money towards a newer console that's guaranteed support for years to come. Judgment is a game i'm wanting for the Xbox but it's not being released for the Xbox One, for no real reason as far as I can see. I'd say that's probably a sign of things to come for the old One X.

Go for Series S, I've got both and it's hard to go back to the slower One X, plus with FPS Boost and Auto HDR along with 16x AF you are getting nice upgrades on Series S.

I love my X to pieces but after just buying a series S for zero reason i'd have to say go with the S. It may not have the internal HDD space but you can grab a cheap external for it

Everythings snappier and you still have the option for the SSD. Everything game i've thrown at it ran perfect. Not bad at all for the price..

Lack of a disc drive does suck though but purely from a gaming perspective, I cant fault it.

Series S all day. SSD, quick resume, native 1440p on all Xbox and enhanced 360 games.

Plus in 2/3 years time, if you fancy it, you'll be able to either buy or use Game Pass to play Starfield, Fable, Avowed etc.

The Series S controller is legit better as well; ever so slightly smaller and a much superior d-pad with less latency.

It's a bad idea if you're planning to play new games. More and more of them will support only the Series consoles, even if the Series S isn't very powerful.

Wait a little and save 100 more to get SX. If you need disc support, save even more for an SX. XOX is not the best choice now

I would wait and get the XsX. Or buy the One X if you don't ever plan to upgrade?!

BC on One X is impressive though, and there is some very cool title like Phantasy Star Online 2. Bless Online is also a very fun action mmorpg. It won't be 200 lost euro but the Series X would do everything you want and then more, while being futur proof.

I wouldn't. The loading times hurt it. The Series S is better overall, and its even cheaper than a new One X. It does have a flaw that certain Xbox One games run in OG Xbox One mode, but the games upgraded are usually better in terms of framerate and loading times. One X has a bit higher resolution in some games, but thats it. Most of the times its at the cost of 30fps with no way to run 60 at the slower OS and loading times on top of it (and this a huge difference) and the One X experience is simply worse.

The best choice, since its better than One X at everything, is the Series X but it doesn't come cheap.

Yes if you want to play last gen titles.

No if you want to play next gen titles.

Simple as that. That price is solid for a 6 tf machine.

Usually consoles used to be so much better in last years of their life cycle. But enhanced BC has changed that completely.

I bought XBox One X in March 2019, great Console, still playing it and very happy. But what about buying it now when XSS is available for just some extra bucks ? As much as I don't like the "idea" of XSS and consider it ""an issue"" as it will hold back both XSX and PS5 due to RAM limitations when big massive AAA 3rd party multiplat will be developed, I can tell you to buy a XSS instead of XBox One X if you cannot spend more than 250-299 bucks. By the way, if you ask me, I would rather keep saving money and buy what is the best investment for this Generation if you want a Microsoft Console = XBox Series X. Save some money mate and go for XSX.

nope
and if you want to get it for gamepass
get a good look at your backlog first,

no reason to get an series X for now.
I guess the ps5 is kinda ok?

if you are into souls? hardly worth it too imo...

Yes, i have ps5 and xbox one x, i would love a series x though as i still play my xbox more than ps now ive completed DS & spiderman.

If you got your GPU a couple of years ago (between the 2017 mining craze and the pandemic/2021 mining craze) any decent gaming PC is just fine.

Get a Series S. Don't listen to the haters, listen to all of the praise people who actually own one give it.

Why are we bringing up PC? OP didn't mention it in the slightest.

If you have any desire to get a Series S or X, then just do that since it will play all the same games as well, in addition to future titles. Otherwise, XBO-X is fine.

Getting one to play OG Xbox and 360 enhanced games is a cool idea. But I wonder if they'll stop bringing more enhanced games to One X and only add them for Series.

If you goal is OG and 360... get a those consoles. I mean this seriously. Or at least go and verify the games you want to play are actually compatible. I got at X1X in 2019 for this very reason. And having a lapse in judgement I believed the folks on here that "almost every game" was BC.

Reality is about half on 360 are compatible and less for the OG. And for salt in the wound, the majority of the games I wanted to play were not BC..... so it often sits unplugged so my 360 can have that HDMI slot.

If you want it for X1 games.... and then go buy an XSX. It should play all the X1 games (right?) with better performance and give you access to XSX games.

As others have said, go for the Series S if you are skint. Yes you won't get 4K there, but framerate is far more important anyway and you at least know it will be relevant and not dropped for several years to come, assuming it sells enough for Microsoft to continue it of course :p Now if you must have 4K gaming, then I guess the One X isn't too bad, but it should be cheaper than what they are charging you, why do you think they are selling it?!

For a couple hundred bucks sure why not? Play it and enjoy it for a few months. Save up to buy a Series X next year when they are more widely available. Sell the One X for about what you paid for it or keep them both n put the One X in your bedroom. There you go.

Series S is useless, it will cost him more or about the same in the long run (storage upgrades).
No it wont, both can use an external HDD for storage... he just has to transfer his games in and out of the ones he want to play... he's obviously trying to be budget conscious why recommend something older that will eventually stop getting support... be logical man

He trying to play 360/ and OG X games, most of those top out at 1080P why recommend buying something that has a near EOL or something that isn't going to improve the performance beyond what those games already target.

I swear people hate something and have no justification for it. 360 games were DVD based, even a two disc game would be around 15gigs... thats alot of 360 and OG Xbox games to fit on a .5TB SSD (not to mention the faster loading)

At 200 it's a no brainer. It's still a very strong console, and the Xbox ecosystem is awesome. I sold my PS4 Pro for €250 a few weeks ago and felt like the king of the world, only to see that stores are selling new PS4 Pros for fucking €450!!!

I would hold off. Don't spend money on an Xbox One X now when you could put that money towards an Xbox Series X. Even though they're hard to come by now, in a few months I imagine they'll be much more available. You'll be able to play whatever games you were going to on the One X with your Series X. That's just me though.

Short answer, Nope.
Why? Because it's lifetime is almost up for game release and support. I'd go for the Series X but if you want the much cheaper model that isn't a pushover either the Series S is also a great choice.

Some pros and cons:

One X
Has a 4k UHD drive. Game discs for old games can be obtained on the cheap. Also plays movies
Can sell your old or unwanted games.
Has "X Enhancements" on more than 400 games.

Will eventually stop getting releases.
Has HDD so load times are slow on a lot of titles. External SSD doesn't help much

Series S
Plays "Next Generation" games.
Has SSD natively, so new games will load very quickly and some old games also benefit.
Has Auto-HDR for backwards compatible games.
FPS Boost might be applied to many more BC games in the future.

Has no disc drive. All your games will have to be purchased digitally at whatever price the online store wants to charge.
Can never recoup the cost of those purchases through reselling.
Locked into base Xbox One resolution, graphics, and framerate (when locked to 30). Some of these are pretty bad. A few select cases will be improved.

I bought a One X in January 2020 as an upgrade to my One S. After a little more than a year, I'd say that I wish I had just waited for a Series X. There aren't enough improvements in the games I care about for it to have made much difference. A huge number of Xbox games either never got any X enhancements at all or only got a resolution bump. I was hoping for far more 60fps titles (especially since the X has more than enough power to do it). I suppose if you REALLY love high resolution and have a pretty large 4k tv, then the X can be a worthy upgrade. A Series S, though, would be completely worthless for me. My Xbox library is nearly all physical.

One year from now it won't get any games. Grab Xbox series S . If you want space you can always use external hdd for your old of games . But Xbox one x ? Fuck no

I personally wouldn't as a day one X1X owner. It's great for what it is, but a Series S will do everything the X1X can except for the 4k.

60fps alone is worth more than 4k imo.

Why not just grab a Series S? The SSD and quick resume is life changing. Plus you will be able to keep playing new games when they cease to be cross-gen in the next few years.
