Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

This is my favorite Zelda tune of all time.

Ancient Hero

Especially at around 2:25

Yes it's a remix but god damn so good.

Beat me to it GAF!

I love Majora's Mask, but I barely remember it's music. Beyond Termina Field anyway.

STONE TOWER TEMPLE

Termina Field
Astral Observatory
Deku Palace
Song of Healing
Clock Town

fucking soundtrack rocks

It's atmospheric for sure but I'd have to listen to it extensively to remember "how it goes" if you know what I mean.
Yeah, there's no melody to remember.
It still gives me the chills every time I listen to it however.

Yeah, it's an OK track. Don't think they did any dis-service to the series by leaving MM out of the CD though. I just barely remember the music outside the game for some reason. I think the game's use of sound and music is really effective, but I only notice when playing really.

Yeah, atmospheric nails the entire soundtrack for me. Perfect for the game's mood, but kinda irrelevant outside of the game.

You are a scholar and a gentleman.
Is there a video version of this gif? I need it!

can't believe the reviews skyrim gets, i honestly thought it would be the flop of the season, it looked terrible in screenshots and videos. now i must play it too damn.

That depends on how many game-breaking bugs it has? Maybe after Oblivion the reviewers are more tolerant. Or paid off.

I don't think any of the tracks Anth0ny really fit that description, that's more like what I'd say about the dungeon music from TWW/TP.

I'd say it's true for all three games dungeon music. Woodfall especially. But the track's Anth0ny mentioned, eh, all good, but I still think it's one of the few areas of the game which isn't god tier.

As long as nothing in the game feels held back or compromised- and Nintendo are masters at ensuring that their games never feel gimped- there won't be any such complaints.
However, if reviewers choose to engage in counterfactuals, such as 'how much better would this game have been with the power of an HD console?' then I have nothing to say to them honestly. Don't review the game for what it could have been, review it for what it IS.
I'm pretty certain that several publications will critize the technical part of the game. The German GamePro magazine already started with it, actually -- they pretty much said that Skyward Sword looks less impressive than Twilight Princess and that they sorely miss voice-acting.

I think that paints an accurate picture of many upcoming complaints of the technical side: It's not only the sub-HD resolution, but also the controversial graphics style -- let's face it, a huge majority nowadays prefers realistic-looking Zeldas -- and the lack of some features that are regarded obligatory in today's games such as voice-acting.

Personally, I don't care about any of it. I love the style, and the text bubbles have a nostalgic charme to me, but it's easy to see that there will be quite a few people who disagree.

Yup, Gerudo Valley was incredible, but my personal favourite on the evening was the Wind Waker medley. The gameplay footage really added to it. Hoping for a Majora's Mask movement in the 2012 concerts.

I'm hoping they release all of their music re-orchestrated Nintendo style. The CD is 45 minutes of bliss.

It would probably be in everyone's best interests if there was zero discussion about any game leaks. Things can go downhill quickly.
Totally agreed.

I'm fairly sure it has been leaked. Don't want to say anything more than that, and I don't want any PM requests. But something is out there at least.

Oh man, the game has made me laugh out loud so many times already. Zelda games has always had a nice share of funny stuff, but god damn, the shopping "center"/bazaar here is really something.

If the Xenoblade thread is anything to go by, even people on NeoGAF are going to make some very poor decisions soon.

There was a reason that thread was named "Piracy is still bannable, guys!" :(
