I don't know. I still don't know how it works. I mean I do, but I don't. Sorry, that's confusing as fuck but it's 2:30am here and I'm trying to figure out if I want to unwrap Skyrim or take it back and get Assassin's Creed on Tuesday.
...You play a song on the Ocarina and your game is saved permanently. You can do a temporary save on an owl statue that goes away after you resume the game.

Zelda: 8
Zelda2: 4
ALttP: 10
LA: 10 (my first Zelda)
OoT: 10
MM: 8 (the third temple gave me massive motion sickness so I never finished it)
OoA: 9
WW: 9
TP: 9

Thanks!

By the way, what's different about the save system in MM?

You have a three day time limit until the moon crashes into Termina. You can slow down the time using the song of inverted time, speed it up using the song of double time, or play the normal song of time to go back to the start of the first day and start anew.

When you play the song of time and go back to the first day, it saves your game. This is the only way to properly save your game - however, you only keep your main weapons, and the boss masks from completing the dungeons (similar to the medallions in OOT/LTTP) . Any progress in dungeons or sidequests is lost and reset.

Apart from this, there are various owl statues which temporarily save your game if you need to quickly go out or turn the console off or whatever - but they arent permanent.

Since i'm going to try and be on good behavior, can anyone tell me what happens when you get banned? You just can't log in and post I take it, but you can still browse GAF?

I just want to know what our fallen comrades are going to be in for.
You have to log out.

But Jesus Christ just relax, you won't get banned

You just want people to quote you....Fuck.
nah, i use the whole ten point scale. 7 means it's good. 8 means it's great, etc. a 6 means i liked it but it's probably something i wouldn't recommend to someone else.

below a five is what i consider bad game territory.

If I remember correctly, I sat 70 hours with TP... does this mean I'm bad at Zelda-games :(?
It probably means you're apreciating the game.
Rushing, and it IS rushing, the game in 20 hours or less is a waste of time in a modern Zelda game. Best not to play it at all.

I love Phantom Hourglass for its characterization (Linebeck in particular was great), its great use of the DS and its abilities, and because its simply flat out charming and fun. Spirit Tracks on the other hand is the total antithesis of Phantom Hourglass.
I respect your opinion. I still think Spirit Tracks did better just because it got rid of that temple you had to revisit many times. Spirit Tracks train was a drag, so I give you that :p

What stops you from just using these own statues all the time? If you can turn off the system and come back and load your game, then it should count as a legit save, right? :o

Huh?

Fake Edit: Anihawk too? What's with the huge score discrepancy between these two games?

I love Phantom Hourglass for several reasons. One, the touch screen controls were novel and inventive, and they made the game incredibly fun, so much so that they could mas the flaws that the game had simply because I was smiling all the time. The game was charming, it had some great characterization with Linebeck standing out as a highlight. It made some great use of the DS's abilities (blow out the torches? Taking notes? Putting your DS in sleep mode? GENIUS). It was a charming fun game that allowed you to explore the world at your leisure and take whatever pace you wanted to for your adventure.

Spirit Tracks flat out sucks. The exploration is limited, it failed to capitalize on the foundation set by Phantom Hourglass, it lost all the charm of Phantom Hourglass, and nothing about it except for its music is good. It stands as one of the most disappointing games I have ever played.

I wanted to finish Xenoblade before the reviews hit. Meh...

Dude, aren't you on like level 94?

spoiler if it IS you I'm thinking of:
you will beat zanza in three hits, no fucking joke - you're supposed to be level 80 when you fight him....surely you've got to prison island 2? That's the end area.

Yes, Temple of the Ocean King was very annoying. I hated having to go through it again and again, but I gave it some leeway because that temple had the best dungeon design in the game.

Level 93. I need to get to 94 so I can get that monster outside of Colony 6 and finish that quest so I can finally make peace and move on.

I also need to be 94 to finish the La Luz Church and Giant quests. So yeah. Ugh.

I'm literally right in front of the end cut off. I needed to finish stuff up beforehand to finish in good conscience.

It's like anti-taste.

I liked Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass, but only as one time through games (which means they didn't stay in my library, as I replay everything). Honestly, the only portable Zelda I liked enough to keep was Link's awakening. I do still have Minish Cap, but I really don't remember it very well, and will be replaying it eventually to see if it's a keeper or not.

And every single dungeon in Spirit Tracks had better design than the entirety of the Temple of the Ocean King, and most 2D Zelda games too to boot

I really liked Minish Cap a lot. I think it ended up having some unfortunate weaknesses, but a lot of that game really brought back the magic of something like Link to the Past. A lot of people say stuff like Link to the Past is only magical or whatever because of nostalgia, but no, Minish Cap really gave me that "feeling" again that nothing has been able to exactly replicate-- I'm hoping Skyward does this for me.
And that is why: minish cap >

The Legend of Zelda - 8
The Adventure of Link - 4
A Link to the Past - 9
Link's Awakening - 7
Ocarina of Time - 9
Majora's Mask - 9
The Wind Waker - 7
Twilight Princess - 8
Phantom Hourglass - 7
Spirit Tracks - 5

Legend of Zelda - 8 (amazing classic, great music, sense of adventure, freedom)

Adventure of Link - 6.5 (solid game with some great things, yet some flaws)

A Link to the Past - 10 (near perfect 2D action adventure game, great music, memorable characters, tons to explore)

Ocarina of Time - 10 (a truly remarkable achievement, an epic tale with great pacing, incredibly memorable characters, great music, and an eerie sense of mystery)

Majora's Mask - 9.5 (one of the most unique game concepts ever, an amazing foreboding and creepy atmosphere, best NPC side quests in the series, great music, some slight flaws regarding ease of boss fights and non ideal save mechanics and some recycling from OOT)

The Wind Waker - 8 (a great sense of adventure and simply oozes charm, beautiful game, too easy, too short)

Twilight Princess - 7 (a solid game with several flaws regarding pacing, difficulty, and sidequests. some of the best dungeons in the series, yet they exist in isolation with little integration between each other and the overworld. meaningless side quests, not enough character development, too much recycling from previous entries)

Phantom Hourglass - 3 (some neat concepts for weapon usage and controls. DS hurts the beautiful windwaker style, very little incentive to explore, too easy, generic music and atmosphere)

Spirit Tracks - 5 (definitely some of the more creative puzzles the series has seen in a while, a lot of unique mechanics, a lot of integrated and creative item usage. the overworld is a disaster: the train is too slow and never gets upgraded, it is tedious, no exploration, overworld music ok, not enough to compensate. a slow tedious transport method was a terrible decision for a portable game. literrally on a train waiting for my train on the game to arrive to its destination, very tedious and meaningless side quests.)

That's a straight up fact and completely undebatable. Has nothing to do with objective values, Spirit Tracks really does have better dungeon design. You have to be delusional to think otherwise

Today I'm actually getting the second part of my Zelda tattoo done. I have to be at the studio at 11AM. Reviews will be released at 9AM where I live.

If the game's metascore is below 9.5 at 10AM, I'm staying home and taking a knife to the parts of the tattoo that are already finished.

EDIT: Holy crap, I'm no longer a junior!

You'd end up running out of time. Finishing the second temple for example takes me usually a day in-game, and then there's an extra two days of sidequests (to get the gilded sword, for example). After then...you are almost out of time. You HAVE to reset time and save, otherwise you're fucked and the moon crashes into the earth, destroying everything.

I actually *really* liked Spirit Track's dungeons. And it has one of the best Zeldas. It's too bad that the Locomo were really fucking stupid, the villains were childish, and the overworld was a disaster. Some gem ideas in there, though.

I already have Dark Souls and Skyrim. I hope the reviews tell me if I need this too - as I don't know myself as Nintendo are an unproven entity with this franchise.

Minish cap is decent at best. It is a very unfulfilling Zelda game. No major set back like Phantom Hour Glass, but I would say it is my self least favorite portable Zelda.

Same here. If they just had a decent overworld I think the game would have been a lot better. That train killed me :(

And Minish Cap is my favourite Zelda ever next to Majora's Mask ! Let's see if we both get some fresh bread flavour with SS.

I actually agree with you. The problem with Spirit Tracks is how it fails to capitalize on everything that it *could* have done well.
Tell me, for instance, why were those dungeons such a drag to play through? Why did the game not captivate me at all? I obviously am not bored with the Zelda formula, so why did Spirit Tracks' objectively superior dungeon design fail to hold me? Because the game was a drag. It wasn't fun. It had no soul. It was like the Gran Turismo 5 of handheld Zelda games- the best design, maybe, but it lacked the soul and the charm that makes it FUN.

This is a highly subjective argument, I recognize that. I am just putting forward my opinions on this matter.

There's a giant rar file of gifs from the anime Nichijou.

There's literally a gif for every single occasion in there, I swear.
